Just because I mentioned something on theZuckerberg side. What is it called Facebook?
It doesn't mean you're gonna see it. You're gonna have to go hunt
it down. Facebook dot com slashJimmy Lakey fan page. The first episode
on the iHeartRadio app is up andit's my new podcast called Critical Mission Podcast.
It's independent of the show, meaningthere's no politics. I mean,

(00:22):
somebody brings up a political topic, they can do that, but it's not
about that. It's about deeper storiesabout the meaning of life. How do
you like that? Yeah, Andthe first episode is up. It's launched
this morning. Go to Facebook dotcom slash Jimmy Lakey fan page and you'll
see the link to that Facebook dotcom slash Jimmy Lakey fan page. I'll
put up the video link. There'sa YouTube channel that's actually these are actually

(00:44):
in video format as well. Andthe new podcast launched this morning. You
could be the first one to subscribe, like it, love it whatever,
you know what I'm saying. Butthe audio only is or the iHeart and
then we'll put the YouTube video up. I'll put that out here in just
a moment. It's called the CriticalMission. It's up on the iHeartRadio app
this morning a new podcast with yourstruly Jimmy Lakey's. We'll talk more about

(01:07):
that throughout the course of the morning, but it has launched. And again
go to facebook dot com slash JimmyLakey fan page to find the link to
the iHeart, the iHeart download orthe iHeart listen. You can do that
on the app. All right, welcome to the program of Friends. It
is the first day of May,and this marks the I guess one week
mark before finally we hit what wecall siny die, which is the final

(01:32):
date and the gabbling out of ourColorado Legislative session. I want to walk
home in the program. Assistant minorityleader from the Republicans. His name is
a Representative Ty Winter. He's onthe hotline as we commemorate and celebrate the
session is almost over. Representative Winter, welcome back to the program. Good
morning, Jimmy, how you doing. Thanks for having me on. I

(01:53):
do it very well. Thanks forhopping on the program. I don't know
whether to talk about the damage that'sgoing to be done over the next seven
days that we have to stopper thedamage that's already been done in this legislative
session. So flip a coin. It's your choice, you know. So
I'd rather talk about the damage thathas been done to be honest with you.
You know, this year we sawtons of green energy initiatives come down

(02:15):
the pipeline. You know, itmakes it hard for somebody like me,
Jimmy who and how Sistrict forty sevenhave tons of you know, American rough
necks that you know, drill, foil and gas. And as they pass
these green energy initiatives, not onlydo they put our grid at risk,
but you know, they pump tonsof dollars, they inflate and bloat the
long Bill with money to go tothese projects, and then they kill good
blue collar jobs in my communities. So you know, we've been fighting the

(02:38):
green energy push, you know. And the problem is, Jimmy, is
is Republicans want clean air and wewant green grafts and clean water too,
but we also realize there's a balance. I mean, in Colorado, our
energy producers do it, and theydo it cleaner than anywhere else in the
world, and they're still getting hammeredconstantly. Y'all out attack on the second
amendments. I mean, we've seenmore anti gun legislation comes to this building

(02:58):
and they've probably seen in the lastfifteen years with an all out attack.
And then you know, the thingthat isn't a build, and I know
we've talked about on your show before, is the guardrails and the curving of
the First Amendment. For the Houseminority, they're the constant. You know,
we're putting guardrails, gabbling, redirectingour members, and I think at
the end of the day that's themajority is so drunk on power that they
don't realize that even though they holdthe super majority in the Chamber when it

(03:22):
comes to number of representatives, thatforty six percent of Caula Radams voted for
Republicans in the last House election. So really pushing back them trying to silence
our free speech and be able tospeak for our constituents and for the values
of our districts. The voice ofAssistant Minority Leader, Republican ty Winter of
the State Legislatures. Seven days fromtoday, we're away from the SIGNI divy

(03:45):
end of the session. Thank god, you know, I said at the
start of the session. I've askedthis some of my listeners throughout the session.
I said, Colorado's wake up everyday wanting their kids to have a
better education. We sit in traffic, we wonder when we're going to first
of all, fix the potholes. Is anybody that see not going to figure
out but stripes on the roads thatyou can actually see? And are we
going to get a restriping program?I mean real simple things. What about

(04:05):
the property taxes that have gone throughthe roof in the last year, What
about inflation? Is there anything wecan do is statewide to lower the cost
of living over all in this beautifulstate. And that's really what people wake
up in Colorado thinking about. Itdoesn't matter their team red, team blue.
These are the kitchen table issues. And every time I see a newscast

(04:26):
talking about what's happening at the capitolor here, have you wanted anybody on
these kitchen table issues kind of seemto be kind of overlooked. The whole
time nobody cared about them. Theywent to these agenda items that you're talking
about. You know, you're onehundred percent corrector and we are constantly trying
to bring it back in the realmof the issues that you're talking about.
The kitchen table issues, the issuesthat I hear from my constituents, and

(04:47):
I'm out on the road. Youcan go back and watch almost every one
of us has hit on those issues. You know, let's reduce income tax,
let's fix the roads. Representative MarkCatlan, I know, you know
they closed the bridge and it crossesover blue. It costs his community a
million dollars a day. With thatbridge being closed, there's a six hour
detour. I mean, these arethe things that we talked about. We

(05:08):
talk about inflationary rate, we talkabout the cost of groceries, we talk
about how green energy is cost theyou know, the cost of heating oil
for your home and gas for yourcar. That's where we try to bring
the conversation. But when we're here, we're dealing with issues. I mean,
we spent this year eight hours oneday debating name changes. You know,
for kids at school. Those arenot the things that the constituents of

(05:30):
Colorado are worried about. They're worriedabout the issues that you talked about.
And just know that the House Republicanswe beat on those issues constantly, and
you know, we hope that messageresonates outside the building with the voters.
So coming this November, we canget some balance back in this building and
we can actually do the real workfor the you know Colorados that need help
instead of talking about, you knowone subjects and issues that voters at the

(05:53):
end of the day really don't careabout because they're hurting. It's a pocketbook.
Yeah. I knew that there wasa lack of legitimacy and series to
these those folks down to the legislature. Whenever I found out that they were
debating a bill that would basically helpgrocery stores regulate the end caps of their
grocery store and tell them how theycan put wine and liquor and beer and

(06:13):
the end caps and if they're inthe right area of a grocery store,
I said, you know, maybethat's an important topic some other time.
But when you can't afford groceries, your kids can't read, write, and
do arithmetic, maybe that's maybe that'sfurther down the list of priorities and not
something in the caps at grocery storeis probably not something any Colorado And woke
up this morning saying, boy,I hope they get to the end caps
of the grocery store. I wanta new law. Nobody said said that

(06:38):
so, and you're right, Jimmy, and that that makes it hard to
see. Our bills don't make thelight of day. They get killed in
committee along a party line vote, and then we can't bring that debate to
the floor to the people. Sounless they're getting on committee to either testify,
the people aren't here in our pointof view and our side, I
mean the minority, minority totally shuttingit or the majority totally shutting it out
when it comes to that. Butwhat's unfortunate is we started the week with

(06:59):
about three hundred and sixty three billsin the pipeline. I would say over
the last couple of days, we'reover three hundred bills still and we're sitting
here waiting. I mean, wehave some egregious bills still coming. We
have some stuff that's vanilla and bipartisansstill coming down the pipe. But you
know, we're going to work thislast seven days to try to protect the
people of Colorado the best we canand try to put out a solid message
to the voters of Colorado that yourHouse Republicans had builds. We have builds,

(07:24):
we have ideas, we have fixesfor these issues, and we need
to be heard and our fixes needto be considered. Like I say all
the time in the well, wehave a big toolbox in this state,
and only using half the tools doesn'twork. And the Republicans have a lot
of good tools in their toolbox thatare passed over that would really make Colorado
a better state and really make thelives of Colorado and better all the way

(07:46):
around. Well, you guys, keep fighting the good fight. I know
what happens these last several days. They start fast tracking a lot of stuff
rather than having a huge amount ofpublic hearings. They just kind of start
ramrotting some stuff through and sometimes weend up shell shock going what did they
do in the last three days ofthe session? And so it can get
out of control. So Representative Winterfight the good five. We appreciate you
hopping on the program. And sevendays, my friends, seven days,

(08:09):
that's all we have to do.Tolerate seven more days of this nonsense.
Thanks for hopping on the program. So I appreciate h Representative Ty Winter.
You got a he's the assistant minorityleader for the House Republicans at the State
House, and do keep a sharpeye on that legislature, because that's what
happens. They put all these bills. Why do they say three hundred bills
still haven't even been considered yet.I mean, I bet you consider at

(08:33):
your kitchen table, and you couldprobably come up with some things you would
like if you were king for aday in Colorado, big picture items you'd
try to fix, and you couldn'tcome up with three hundred items, I
really really bet. But that's whatthey have left now. Still, as
of last week, they had almostfour hundred bills, and that's not even
mentioning what they've already tried to shovedthrough the legislature, and much of it.

(08:54):
Do you you find out when didthis happen? When did this bill
start? When did this fee comeinto Oh? That happened in twenty twenty
two, that happened in twenty twentythree. Some of it happened so quickly
and not a lot of coverage, and you don't even know what hits you.
And it's sc scary, scary, scary. But again, kitchen table
issues obviously being ignored because every timewe talk about it, todaint about the

(09:16):
kitchen table issues. I got totake this break. I'll come back in
just a moment. Don't forgive Mybrand new podcast is up on the iHeartRadio
app right now. There's a directlink to it. Facebook dot com slash
Jimmy Lakey fan page. Go likeit. Don't listen to it during the
show. You can listen to itafter. It's episode one of my new
Critical Mission podcast, and that isup at iHeartRadio right now. You can

(09:41):
listen to it. I'll give youthe video link a little bit. But
Facebook dot com slash Jimmy Lakey fanpage. Everybody stand by Jimmy Lakey.
