message and I will do my bestrespond and or read those d or share
those accordingly as necessary here on theprogram. All right, good to have
you here on the radio show.We got the debate tonight. We'll talk
more about that throughout the course ofthe morning. But some other topics I

(00:47):
do want to get to. Itseems like every time I turn on the
news, every time I look acrossthe scroll at the bottom of the screen,
someone is talking AI. They're talkingartificial intelligence, and a lot of
us are just kind of catching upon what that all means. We heard
last week that the news broke thatNvidia is now the most valuable public company
in the world, surpassing Apple,Microsoft, Amazon. They're kicking tail,

(01:12):
and a lot of you are going, I don't know what Nvidia does,
but wish I went about that stocka couple of years ago. I want
to welcome in the program Robert H. Bork Junior. He's the president of
the Anti Trust Education Project and recentlyreissued his father's book, Robert Book.
Robert books book, The Anti TrustParadox, A policy at War with Itself,

(01:32):
And I want to have them commenthere. As Nvidia goes and becomes
a very valuable public company, theFederal Trade Commission comes out and says,
oh, by the way, we'regoing to do some investigation here. We're
going to look up the AI sector, including Nvidia, and we're also going
to look at Microsoft's investment in openai and the makro Chat GPT. And
so all of a sudden, AIbecomes very, very prominent, in Vidia

(01:55):
becomes a very valuable company, andnow the federalies say, hey, we're
going to be looking into you dosome investigation. We'll find out what's merited
and what's not. Robert H.Mork Junior, Good morning, Welcome back
to the show. Great to behere. Thanks for having me. Well,
help us understand the Federal Trade Commissionunder two different investigators say they're going
to look at the Microsoft involvement withopen Ai, and then you've got to

(02:16):
Nvidia also going to be looked atfor their AI chips. What's the investigation
form? Well, that's a verygood question. First of all, the
FTC is going to take Microsoft andits investment of ten billion dollars in open
AI, and the Department of Justiceis going to look at Nvidia, which

(02:38):
makes chips. It makes the AIchips which are very now suddenly very very
valuable, and that's why the stockprice has gone through the roof. I
don't know that it'll stay up thereforever, but that's where it is right
now. So when you got bothof these anti trust investigatory acies saying AI

(03:01):
needs a look, that's when Iget a little bit worried about where things
are going. You know, thisis as so many things are in Washington,
the government being jealous of wealth andpower and trying to figure out how
to get its hand in the tiltand also how to control it. You

(03:23):
know, one of the problems withthe last century anti trust enforcement was has
started with the presumption that big isbad, and it has returned to that
now under the Biden administration. Inthe meantime, the last forty five years,
we've had my father's principle about antitrust in place. Basically, the

(03:45):
Supreme Court said that it had adoptedhis view that the consumer should be at
the center of anti trust enforcement, and our economy flourished and wealth creation flourished,
and innovation flourished. But then yougot this socialist crowd has come in
and they want to basically put theirhands around to the neck of innovation in

(04:05):
this country because they don't like competitionfrom the private sector. So what's going
on is you've got these companies beingpunished not because they've actually in this case,
not that they've actually done anything. They're not a monopoly in AI.
There's no monopoly in Ai. There'ssixty four thousand AI companies. They've got

(04:28):
some big ones, though, andthey're being punished for something that they might
do, which reminds me of thatmovie. But you know about pre crime
has started, you know, tryingto investigate things that may happen in the
future. And that's what these guysare doing. You know, America leads
the world in big things, andyou don't see innovation like this coming out

(04:53):
of Europe. They have a stagnanteconomy and so I don't. But that's
where these innovative, these enforcement peoplewant to go. They want to be
like Europe and and so that's whythey're trying to put their hands around the
neck of this new technology. Itis fascinating that you mentioned the pre crimes
because when I was just reading aboutthis investigation being launched, it said they

(05:15):
just want to look around at theinvestment that Microsoft has made into open Ai
and at the investigation of the Nvidia. It's almost as if they're going fishing.
We're going to look at some things, We're going to call some witnesses
in and we're going to see ifyou are doing something wrong, and evidently
you've got to prove yourself innocent. Here almost it seems to be backwards for
what it should be exactly fishing. They are fishing. It's you know,

(05:40):
pre crime. I guess the moviewas called Minority Report. If that brings
a bell with anybody with Tom Cruise, Yeah, so they're they're saying,
we think you might do something inthe future, and so we're going to
jump in now and try to stopit from happening. Well, that's not
how the law works, and that'snot how new process works in this country,

(06:00):
didn't until recently. And so whatthey ought to do is track this
technology, which I understand can bea little scary, but they should track
it, and they should look forsomeone to actually have a real monopoly that
you can prove with economics and facts, and then bring a case if that's

(06:23):
what you want to do, orstart an investigation. But I think this
crowd really, really really doesn't likethe idea that something could take some of
their power away. David m Davidmckaye wrote in The New York Times that
he thinks that this progressive crowd isthe crowd of the ftc or wherever they're

(06:44):
at in the government now, they'rejust kind of have a little case of
envy. They think that hey,we're behind Europe. Europe has already really
regulated AI. We're behind, sowe better get after it and show them
who's boss. Is there any meritto that that we're just have a case
of European envy? Absolutely, you'reabsolutely right. You know Europe has if

(07:04):
you want to talk about you knowsomebody who's innovated in ni trust. These
guys have innovated the regulatory powers ofgovernment so that they can find a way
to tax essentially and find any companythat does anything that that would benefit the

(07:27):
consumer and make money and make thembigger. So, you know, so
you have our companies coming under attacknow by our own regulators who are coordinating
with Europe and other countries to makesure that there's a sort of global regime
of regulation uh designed to control innovation, control uh, you know, the

(07:53):
creation of wealth and jobs, becausethey're not the kind of jobs they think
that we ought to have or it'snot you know, they're worried about rich
people doing things with their money thatthey don't like. The voice of Robert
Hborg, Junior President of the AntiTrust Education Project, has recently reissued his
father's book, The Anti Trust Paradox, A Policy at War with Itself.

(08:18):

the book, The Anti Trust Paradoxor your father's book. Where do they
go? Well, go to AntiTrust Educationproject dot org. They can follow
us on Twitter at anti Trust Edu. And the book is available at Amazon

up at Amazon. Robert Hborg Juniorthe president of the Anti Trust Education Project.
You can find him an Anti TrustEducation Project dot org. And again
