Speaker 1 (00:02):
Sources say. You know what sources mean. It means nobody
once owned this statement. It came down to Shapiro having ambitions.
I mean, he's two ambitious. I don't know, just reading.
I'm reading the scrolls across the bottom of my computer
screens a television monitor. Harris' sources say was worried that
Shapiro is ambitious might Upstager, and so Tim Wallas is

(00:24):
a pick. I don't know if that's true, but shocking
to me. I think a lot of folks shocked by it.
The Trump campaigns immediately and the other people have already
done their op research knowing that it could come down
to him. This is an interesting and I'll tell you
how my beauty little brain works. Christinome, governor South Dakota,
talks about her neighboring state over there, Minnesota, not far

(00:45):
down the road, says Wats is no leader. He's a radical.
I served with him in Congress. He pretended to be
a moderate, then he showed his true extremist colors as
soon as he became governor. And that Christie Nomes said,
South Dakota has been kicking Minnesota's buddy economically for years.
Last year nearly seven thousand Minnesota, AND's moved to South
Dakota because Walts took the people's freedoms away. Harris Walls

(01:05):
would be the most radical left wing ticket in American history.
And I wanted to see. I scrolled down further to
see if Christy Nomes said I just to see if
she says uh, and he has a pet dog or anything.
I did Christie didn't know if Christy Noman looked into
that yet. So anyway, there's that's just how my brain works.
I'm like, does she say anything about his dog? Because

(01:26):
if so, if I'm Tim Waltz, I'd keep the dog inside. No,
look it up. If you don't know what I'm talking about,
it's it's a Christinome joke.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
All right.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Glad to have you here on the radio show. Jimmy
is my name? A lot of comments coming in. Fascinating picky,
just a fascinating pick Now what I would expect. Let
me bring in Laura Carno, one of those brilliant minds
in politics. At least that's what she told me. Laura
Carno on the hotline the Lauracarno dot Com, also with
Faster Colorado dot org.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Laura Karno, good morning, how are you?

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Good morning. I love being on with me Laky during
breaking news Breaking Tuesday.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
I feel like we should have like an intro music
and stuff and if I was a big time radio
that have breaking news, but I'm a red headed step
child in talk radio, so nobody gives a damn.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
So anyway, welcome to the program.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Cardo.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Tuesday is resurrected for at least one day.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yes, yes, and I'm with you, Jimmy. I think this
is a fascinating pick for Kamala Harris. And the gossip
or rumor or whatever it was that you heard about
Shapiro maybe being too ambitious and might stage her, I'm
kind of hearing been hearing some things about that. Not
with the Walls pick, obviously, but just generally speaking, what

(02:40):
she needed to look for in a running mate, and
it was definitely somebody who wouldn't upstage her. And Josh
Shapiro is really really well spoken and can you know,
string a very complex sentence together without being word solid,
And you know, I think that's the problem for Kamala Harris.

(03:00):
If people are looking at the ticket and saying, hmm,
maybe it should be the other way around, maybe Governor
Shapiro should be on top of the ticket. So but politically,
I think this is a very very interesting pick with
how far left Tim Walls is anti police. He was
a defund big defund the police guy, if you'll remember,

(03:21):
during the riots, and similar to our own governor wants
to get rid of all fossil fuels by twenty forty.
So he's not if anybody tries to sell him as
a moderate, I think he's actually as far left, if
not further left than Kamala Harris.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
It's going to be arc Usually you kind of look
at a pick and say he's bringing balance for a geography,
you know, he's not. I think Minnesota probably would probably
already have gone for Kamala Harris. People say, well, he's
very popular in Michigan or whatever. I don't know if
I buy that. I mean, how many people know who
the surrounding governors are unless you're really a junkie. It's

(03:59):
like saying old New Mexico governor's really popular in Colorado.
Most Colorados don't know who they held the New Mexican
governor is. So I don't buy that she thought she
could win Michigan or Wisconsin with his governor.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
But maybe I'm wrong.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
No, I'm with you. I think the assumption being made
is that the Minnesota governor can pull some of those
swing states, like you know, like Michigan and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania,
maybe because the voters in those areas have some similar
interests economically, that sort of thing, you know, I don't know,

(04:36):
I don't know about that. I agree that Kamala Harris
is going to very likely win Minnesota. And it's such
an interesting choice when Pennsylvania seems to be the state
that both of the contenders are going to be vying for,
that that the Josh Shapiro pick wasn't made. It was

(04:56):
interesting too. I don't know if you if you saw this,
but the big her big rally is going to be
tonight in Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia mayor came out over
the weekend with a huge endorsement of Josh Shapiro for
vice president or for the vice president presidential nominee on
the Democrat ticket. And you know a lot of people

(05:19):
are saying, was it was that leaked out? It wasn't
supposed to be out yet, and that sort of thing.
But you might think that that the kickoff rally would
be in a state, you know, maybe like Minnesota, where
you just got your VP nominee. And so I wonder
what happened in the last you know, twenty four to
forty eight hours, if it did come down to you know,

(05:41):
Shapiro's ambition or his ability to upstage her, and you know,
not knowing much about Tim Walls, you know, certainly he
comes across as as fairly Vanilla isn't going to set
the world on fire, and maybe that's what they were
looking for.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
Yeah, I think you bring up a good point.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
And I'm kind of scrolling around the inter Googles right now,
the interweb, looking around, and it seems as if there's
a couple of things that people are saying that Kamala
did not want to risk Michigan and even Minnesota by
going to Shapiro, who happens to be Jewish, and so
that was that was a downside, but also his ability
to speak and his youthful appearance. She didn't want to

(06:22):
be upstage because she's not necessarily known as a prolific
speaker when she gets off teleprompter. And so I think
it's a good point. Other people are making it online
as well, that she didn't want to be out there
and people say, well, maybe he should be the top
and she should be the bottom of the ticket. If
you've looked at Tim Walls, if you haven't seen his photo,
he looks like probably a younger version of like a
Bernie Sanders. He's got that gray, tossled hair, and so

(06:44):
he's he's definitely not going to upstage her with some youthful,
vibrant kind of guy, and so she can be the
I think she can be the rock star with him
on the stage, and it's all that's what she needs
and that's how the campaign.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Wants to position her.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Yeah, and you you bring up a good point with
Shapiro being Jewish, and you know what was this part
of you know what went into the decision over the
last twenty four to forty eight hours is what does
the Hamas wing of the Democrat party think about this?
There are significant populations in the States that you mentioned

(07:22):
that aren't aren't big fans of Jewish people and our
big supporters of the Palestinian side and what's going on
in Israel, and that's a big problem for them, and
you have to look at that admission. We are too
anti Semitic to pick a Jewish guy, even though he

(07:43):
would help help deliver the state that we need. That
that's a pretty big admission that's told between the lines there.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Yeah, the voice of Laura Carno is it's not a
it's not your imagination. Laura Carno dot Com joins me,
it's a it's a makes version, an impromptu version of
a Carno Tuesday, jumping in on this breaking news Tuesday,
as Kamala Harris has chosen.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Her VP to be Tim Waltz.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
They have an aerial shot going on one of the
networks now of a procession of limos and secret service vehicles.
Tim Walls, I'm sure has been scurried away heading off
to fly to meet up with Kamala Harris. So that's
the blocked off the interstates in Minnesota, and that's happening
right now.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Breaking news. All right, Well, we.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Can continue to talk about this as a develops, but
you send me a story. And I saw the same
thing our Governor Jared Polus, who's not been picked as
the VP because, in his own words, unless she needs
a fat, gay Jewish guy from Boulder, Colorado, I'm not
the guy. So evidently she was not looking for that.
Those were his words, not mine. But he put on
Twitter or ex he put up a weird photo of

(08:47):
himself and I don't understand the Dawn of Dark Jared,
and he's got glowing eyes and American eagles in America.
What the hell is this picture that Jared Polus, our
governor has put up.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
You know, when I first saw it yesterday, Jimmy, I
made an assumption that it was some sort of a
parody account because it is so ridiculous. And if your
listeners will remember the Dark Brandon memes that came out
after the Let's Go Brandon chance and all that sort

(09:20):
of stuff, that Joe Biden came out with this dark
Brandon meme that showed him with these red glowing eyes
and that sort of thing. This is, you know, months,
if not a year ago, and so apropos of nothing.
Jared Polus posts, and you're right, the background is like
eagles and American flags and the Statue of Liberty. It's

(09:42):
all very very patriotic. And then Jared Polus with these
glowing red eyes and it says the dawn of Dark
Jared with no other explanation. There are as of right now,
there are three hundred and fifty eight comments. I scrolled
through what was there last night, and almost everybody's like,

(10:03):
what is wrong with you? Delete your account? We have
so many problems in the state, and you're doing this.
There was not a lot of lots for Jared Polis
last night on this meme. Yeah, this meme, I guess
I would call it. It's still up there with really
no explanation of what's going on. I don't know if

(10:24):
it maybe he got his phone call that said, hey, Jared,
it's definitely not going to be you were picking somebody else,
and he felt the need to post something. But I
just don't get it. I don't know if you had
any other ideas on that, Jimmy, I.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Don't know.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
But stuff like this, you know, Jared Polus, let's kind
of go back thirty five thousand fee. Jared Poulos, by
all accounts and all thoughts, has aspirations for running for president,
but he comes out and does some of the dumbest
things and it's like a rich guy gone bad. He
doesn't control his brand very well. I mean the comment

(11:00):
that he made unless she needs a fat gay guy
from Boulder, Colorado, she's not gonna pick me that's going
to come back and buy him on the butt. He
said that publicly. He came out and remember did some
of those parodies during COVID you can win a car,
you can win a car, whatever, all these goofy things
that he does. For a guy that wants to be
the president one day, or at least run for president,
Jared Pouls needs somebody to rain him in and get

(11:21):
a grip on him, because this kind of stuff doesn't
help him. This suff bite you on the butt like
he's some bizarre psychopath from Boulder, Colorado. His brand is
not maintained very well by himself, right.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
And you know, as Democrats are calling Republicans weird, if
you look at something like this and you go, Okay,
that's not weird. You know, the pot calling the kettle black,
so to speak. I'm not sure what they're thinking over there.
And with all this stuff going on in the state
that actually needs his attention, the optics of spending the

(11:57):
time on something like that is kind of ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Yeah, Jared, if you're listening, every move you make, every
step you take, you take yourself out of contention for
a national consideration.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
In anything serious.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
In my opinion, I want to come back to a
story about property taxes in Colorado if we have a moment.
But I know today and tomorrow are the final moments
of the Meat and Heat Sweep Steaks from your organization
called Faster Colorado. Talk about the meat and Heat sweep
Steaks and times running short.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Yeah, and we're actually I had to step out of
the class that we're in Monday through Friday this week
for for some full time security officers at a school
district to take this call, which turns out there's no
there's no self service out of the range, so actually
needed to step off of the property. But yeah, you're right.
Today and tomorrow or the last two days of our

(12:54):
sweet steaks. It officially ends at eleven fifty nine tomorrow night,
and this is your last chance to win a meat
and Heat package as we're calling it. And basically what's
in the package is the meat part of it is
a side of beef. The heat is a Shadow System's pistol.

(13:14):
It's a CR nine twenty Elite, which is a con
stal carry kind of are more compact model. There's also
ammunition and then a chance to be able to take
a faster class alongside of these wonderful people who are
protecting our school children. And so folks can go to
Faster Colorado dot Org and then you're just going to

(13:35):
click on the Sweet Steaks entry button that's there and
it'll take you over there. You can look at all
of the details of the package and that you just
have until eleven fifty nine tomorrow. The entries are twenty
five dollars for one entry, and then you get discounts
if you buy multiple entries. There's some some you're you

(13:57):
have an ability to get another free entry if you
share it on your social media, that sort of thing.
So folks want to check that out again. It's Faster
Colorado dot Org and click on this sweet Steaks button.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Sweep Steaks at Faster Colorado dot Org. Faster Colorado dot Org.
And I'll remind you again before the show wins. But
Faster Colorado dot Org click on sweepstakes and it's the
meat and heat sweep steaks, and nothing better than meat
and heat and combining them together.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
It's extra special. All right.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
You mentioned the things in Colorado that need to be fixed.
We still have a property tax debacle that has not
been fixed. By our legislature. You sent me a story
from CPR Colorado Public Radio asking the question will there
be another special session on property taxes? I don't know
if there will be, because Jared Poulos is too busy
putting out weird memes.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Right, Advance Colorado put a couple of ballot initiatives on
the ballot that have been approved by the title Board.
And now there is word that there might be an
agreement in the process of being reached between the folks
at Advance Colorado who put these ballot initiatives on to
fix the property tax and some sort of an agreement

(15:05):
between them and the legislature saying and the governor saying,
if you take those off the ballot, we will convene
a special session and pick it and fix it. So
my sense of that, and this is just breaking today,
but my sense of that is that they're very concerned
that the Advanced Colorado versions will pass, and they they

(15:28):
don't want to lose that badly, and so they want
to again call a special session try and get some
sort of a compromise that keeps the people happy but
doesn't go as far as the conservatives want. So that's
going to be very interesting. It would need to be
in the next probably three or four weeks, and so

(15:50):
time is of the essence for the governor to make
this decision on a special session. So something to.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Keep our eye on and is always a pleasure.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Again, go to the Meat and Heats swepstakes entry for
Faster Colorado supporting their great work as a charitable organization
keeping kids safe at school in Colorado. Faster Colorado dot org.
Click the sweep steaks button and you can register again
today and tomorrow and then the sweepstakes ends as a
Faster Colorado dot org. Laura, it's a pleasure. Thanks for
