Speaker 1 (00:00):
To the show. Good to have you on the program.
My name is Hime Lagos, Jimmy Lakey. How's everybody doing
out there? I hope you're doing very very well. Hey,
the kids are going back to school. A lot of
you head back to school today, someone back earlier this week.
And how many of you did what you said you
were gonna do this summer? You went to the dentist, right,
you got all the kids of the dentist. I know,
(00:21):
so I know you got busy, right, you got real busy,
and you didn't get that dentist appointment. And little Johnny,
little Judy, you didn't start the orthodonics. I understand people
get busy. The summer's just you know, we some of
used to go through labor day and now it doesn't,
so you're kind of rush. You don't have a lot
of time. Listen, don't condemn yourself, don't but don't stop
doing what you said you're gonna do. Call doctor Sean
(00:42):
Viskren Associates today and go ahead and make those appointments
for your dental care. They've got an office in Johnstown
and Longmond. And by the way, maybe you got the
kids all taking care of maybe there's some things you
wanted to take care of with dentistry. Now the kids
are out of the house, why don't you go see
doctor Sean Viskern Associates again all of your family's dental needs,
from the basic cleanings and cavities that pop up occasionally
(01:04):
to cosmetics whitening. You want to do that. Maybe there's
something bigger, like a dental implants. Listen and maybe you say,
I need to do that, laky, but I don't have
the insurance. They have an in house membership. Ask them
about and that makes some of that dental care more
accessible to you. It's doctor Sean Viskern Associates, two locations,
Johnstown and Longmont. Trail Ridgdental dot com. Trail Ridgdental dot com.
(01:28):
Don't delay any longer. Call them up today, go to
their website today, trailridgdental dot com and make that appointment
for you and the family. Trail Ridgdental dot com. All right,
let's welcome into the program. Mister Dan Woog. He is
a name that might be familiar to some of you
because he has served in the state legislature, but recently
was not serving because a lady by the name of Gennifer.
(01:49):
Jennifer Parenti was serving the district that he's now running
to represent, and Jennifer Parenti recently stepped down for some reasons.
She said, there's too many things going on and too
many bad things, and I can't represent it with my integrity.
So she's out. And so Dan Wug is the Republican
(02:10):
in the race House District nineteen, and he now has
a new opponent. Please welcome Republican candidate for House District nineteen,
mister Dan Wug, Dan Walker to the program.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
Thank you, Jimmy, it's good to be here.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Let's talk about this district that we discuss. It is
parts of Erie. Well, I guess it's almost all of Erie.
You've got the you brush kind of north of Thornton, Firestone.
Frederick Dacono, do you hit up in a long mountain? Mead,
what's up? Give us the parameters of this district House district.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah, you're just about right on. It's Firestone, Frederick d'acono
is all of Erie. So of course the Boulder County
ports in and Welld County, and then it does have
just a little bit of Longmont where it borders Firestone.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
I was right on and my boundaries there. Now you're
the incumbent in that seat. Jennifer Parenti dropped out. What
does that mean for the race? Any word on why
she dropped out there should be This is a slight
registration leade. I believe in Republicans in the district. Any
word on why Parenti dropped out and who your new opponent.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Is, Yeah, a little bit. You know, I only know
what I read and her statement, and this is Jennifer Parenti,
who currently is the representative. She said that the culture
at the Capitol rewards personal agendas and special interests. And
you know, I'll tell you I formally served in a
different House district number sixty three, and I sure didn't
(03:34):
feel there were you know, personal agendas and special interests,
at least not on the Republican side. And so I'm
not sure what her issues were. I mean to me,
that's almost all the more reason to run and to
try and serve your constituents if there are issues down there.
I mean, that's that's why we do it. We feel
like there are issues and we want to go help
resolve them. So that's all I know as far as
why she dropped out, And yeah, they did just appoint
(03:56):
someone a few days ago out of Longmont, and of
course the demo that I will be running against. I
know very little about her. I hate to say her name,
but her name is Jilaire McMillan, and yeah, I know
very little. I don't believe she has served any political
seats and is new to this.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Let's talk about why you want to be down to
the state capitol. You're a businessman, You've been down to
the capitol before in District sixty three. Then they read
true and to put you kind of in nineteen Why
does somebody want to put them through the misery of
going down to what I call the Dome of dummies,
the Gold Dome. And you make very little money. You
kind of don't get to work on your real job
(04:33):
because you're down there of these long hours, sometimes twenty
hour sessions down there. Your Republicans have traditionally been a
recently a minority, so you don't have a lot of control.
Or why is it what drives your dan to want
to go down to the capitol.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, that's a great question, and I will admit I
do question myself at times being down there, even if
I win, still being in the minority, or even maybe
super minority. But I appreciate that. I you know, really,
I think when I when I think about my upbringing,
I think of my two grandfathers, my late grandfathers, and
once served in World War Two on a Navy destroyer.
(05:10):
The other actually helped help with the design of the
Adam bomb. You actually got accommodation from the Army Corps engineers.
And my grandfather's just instilled that in me. And they
were Democrats, but they instilled in me that you know,
you do it's right. You help your country or in
this case, your state if you see things that aren't
going well or things that are hurting your constituents. And frankly,
(05:32):
I mean the top two issues. As I you know,
as a business owner right now, I see a lot
of things. And as a former legislator and even a
town trustee and erie, the cost of living here is
just going crazy. As you can see, it's skyrocketed. And
as a business owner, I've seen legislation that actually affects
my property management business that forces me to increase my costs,
(05:53):
and obviously my customers, clients, they're the ones that are
going to pay the cost. So that's just one little
I know a restaurant owner locally. I was just in
eating at his restaurant in Frederick and he said, Dan,
I'm we're tasked on top of taxis. I mean, I
have three restaurants. We're barely getting by. We might have
to close one or two. So I just it's it's
every day. All these people are feeling the effects. And frankly,
(06:17):
the other thing is Jimmy. Another key point I'm going
to go down there and work on is just supporting
our law enforcement. I mean, we're seeing criminals that aren't
getting just punishment for their crimes, and then all of
a sudden they're out the next day committing the same
crime and over and over again. And it's just we
can't have a well run state and a good economy,
which is what I want and what I want to
help with. We can't have that when we have some
(06:39):
of the highest crime rates in the country. It's just
it's uncalled for, it's unacceptable. I mean, this has gone
on too long. We've had, as you know, full Democrats
control down there, and things just aren't going well for people.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
House District nineteen Republican candidate Dan Wugu. I will reach
out to jeal Air mcviilli and see if she has
come on the program and to have a conversation. She'll
be your opponent appointed by a vacancy committee. Real quick.
That district, the House District nineteen, you said, it's all
of eerie Frederick Firestone, d'acona and up in departs of Longmont.
I believe if you look at the voter registration that
(07:12):
leans Republican, and yet it's obviously not a guaranteed Republican seat.
Just very quickly, how does a Republican win in that
district that has a swath of Boulder County as a matter
of fact, having Republicans learn to win again in the state.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah, well, of course listening. I've been out walking at
door to door, door knocking, leaving my literature since April.
I mean I've been I started early, and I've been
working hard, and I even have a bigger team this
time around. It's helping me so more than preaching my message.
I've been listening. I mean, what is affecting you, what's
really what are you unhappy with?
Speaker 1 (07:48):
So?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
And I've been talking a lot of independent voters and
Democrats as well, And like I said, the reality is
people are concerned about the crime, they're concerned about the
legal immigration that's come into Denver and it is spreading,
and they're concerned about the cost of living. So just
listening and letting people voice their concerns and letting them
know what I'm about. So I think that's the key.
Just working very hard. I think it's going to be
(08:11):
a close seat no matter what, even with a new
opponent for me. So I've just been out working my
saleoff and fortunately I've had a lot of people reach
out to me that want to help and have been helping.
So I've got a great scheme and we're just going
to keep working through the election.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Hi, right, the website is wo good Woog Colu for
HD nineteen, Woog for HD nineteen, woog fr HD nineteen,
WOG four House District nineteen dot com. Dan, you're always
walking on the show. I appreciate you popping on and
we'll talk again as the campaign season gets underway. Woog
(08:45):
for HD nineteen. Yes, jil Ay McMillan, if you're listening,
I'd love to have you on the program talk about
your candidacy and let everybody meet you as well. And again,
that's House District nineteen, and that is a swing seat
that could actually switch in the LEGISA was redrawn into
House District nineteen. It used to be sixty three. When
they every ten years they redraw the boundaries and so
(09:07):
it changed up, and that is a seat that could
possibly switch. Now, these state legislative seats, you got to
remember the campaign donation limits are so small that anybody
that can get the word out and there's not a
lot of big money going into these to the candidates,
so a lot of packs still play in these House
district races. But anyway, there is a way to get
(09:29):
involved in the campaigns. Most of the campaigns have a
donate button that's huge. There's a get involved button. There's
a lot of different options down there. But hey, it's
election season. And again, rather than cursing about Washington, d
C all the time, remember there's somebody wants to go
down and represent you on a very local level. Why
don't you find out who's going to represent your most
(09:49):
and get involved in those campaigns. Laky on the radio
