Saturn and Neptune are Retrograde in Pisces, bringing a period of deep introspection—and potential emotional pitfalls. The energy feels foggy, exhaustive, and heavy, putting our defenses to the test.

This astrological transit can stir up old fears and delusions, making past, unhealthy coping mechanisms sound like logical solutions. Be aware: the temptation toward escapism will be high, whether through old addictions like drugs, alcohol, and food, or behaviors like doomscrolling, overeating, or toxic relationships.

This is a cautionary time. Your nervous system may feel frayed and exhausted, and your internal "check engine light" is on. It's a real danger that you might romanticize destructive behaviors.

In this episode, we arm you with spiritual and practical defenses:

  • Double Down on Recovery: It's time to double down on asking for help and proactively activating your support systems.
  • Tap Into Community: We discuss why friendships and community are your most vital resources against the loud, delusional inner voice.
  • The Antidote to Self-Serving: Learn how being of service to others is the antidote to feeling selfish and stuck—a powerful way to get out of your own head.
  • Facing the Mental Health Storm: We address why voices of depression, anxiety, and worthlessness may get louder now and remind you that you are not alone.
  • Spiritual Defenses: Practical ways to talk to your higher self and ask for support from your guides and spiritual troops.

Don't let old delusions lead you into a darker place. This transit is an incredible evolutionary journey, but you must be mindful. Listen now to learn how to proactively safeguard your sobriety, mental clarity, and spiritual well-being.

What is one specific recovery tool or practice you're committed to using more in the coming months?

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Hi, everyone, it's Amanda Rigor Green. Welcome to Soul Sessions.
There's something really important that I want to talk to
everybody about today and share with you, because it's been
one of those sticking points in my own spiritual and
energetic practice. Especially astrologically, both Saturn and Neptune are retrograding

(00:31):
back into Pisces. Saturn has already been there for a
hot minute, so it moved from Ares back into Pisces.
Neptune on October twenty second will retrograde from Aris back
into Pisces, and they will be there for a while
as they're retrograde station direct, and then into twenty twenty

(00:52):
six they will start moving. They will be moving direct,
they'll move back into Aries and they make this big conjunction.
So astrologically, that's what's going on. And I have a
whole blog that outlines the dates, the times, the energies
and what's happening. And if you want the astrological specifics,

(01:14):
check out that blog. The link is in the show description.
But what I want to talk to you all about
and share with you is it's kind of freaking me out,
and I'll tell you why. It kind of feels exhaustive,
And it's not that I am self sabotaging with that
thought process, but having both Saturn and Neptune moving backwards

(01:39):
into Pisces, I know that that energy is going to
feel foggy. It's going to bring up old fears and
delusions and the pitfall in this energy. And if there
is one pitfall that actually scares me to death, and
it's not the kind of scare me to death, why

(02:00):
I am paralyzed in fear or I'm gonna be stuck,
But I'm very mindful and cognizant of this. It's that
old addictions will feel like the right answer, whether that
is drugs, alcohol, food, toxic relationships, any kind of addiction

(02:25):
that you may experience. And if you are someone who
actually is in recovery and has had a challenge with
drugs or alcohol, this is like cautionary time to dive
into whatever your recovery is. But if your addiction is relationships, codependence,

(02:45):
if it is workaholism, if it's your screen time and
doom scrolling, escapism, zoning out, over eating, sex like, addictions
come in a multitude of and we all have them
in varying levels, and some of us do have that

(03:06):
attic brain that has been flipped on that cannot be
reversed in a multitude of ways. But this phase of
time really says watch out, like be mindful because our
brains and our consciousness and I think what's going on
from a reprogramming standpoint and an evolutionary standpoint in our

(03:26):
growth and evolution, It's like, there's this real danger of
entertaining or romanticizing our addictions as a solution. And even
though logically we know that, ah, that's probably not a
healthy decision, or it's not a good idea to decide

(03:47):
to have a drink or do a drug, or pick
up the phone and text this person from this relationship
who abused me four years ago. Like whatever, whatever the
behavior is, it almost feels like our senses and defenses
are going to be numbed or dulled. And I am
saying this with a lot of seriousness, and I'm saying

(04:11):
this to you all, and I'm also saying this to
myself because I know, for me, I'm very dedicated to
my personal recovery. As many of you know, I have
been in recovery for alcoholism and addiction for quite some time,
for a long time, and I'm very dedicated to that path,
and I know for me to choose alcohol or drugs

(04:32):
not only is part of my disease, but it also
dims me from my soul's evolutionary path, my conscious contact
with my higher power and the universe. It's not a
choice for me, but my addictive brain may say you're
having a bad day, well maybe just this would work.

(04:54):
And that's the way the addictive brain works is it's delusional.
And I'm sharing this with you all for any kind
of addictive behaviors knowing that our senses and our defenses
feel a little bit dulled. So instead of resting on

(05:14):
your laurels and saying I'll be fine, I've got enough,
you know, spiritual practices in me or recovery or growth,
or really good tools, communities, resources that I use, it's
not a time to put those aside. It's actually a
time to double down on asking for help exercising your

(05:37):
tools and resources. So think about that as we enter
the holiday season especially, and as we shift into the
last couple of months of twenty twenty five. Energetically, there
is this compounding of energy and it's speeding up, so
our nervous systems and energetic systems already feel frayed, exhausted,

(06:02):
kind of on the fritz, a little bit like almost
like too many plugs have been put into the power
outlet and it's about to blow. That's what our energy
field feels like. So anything that you struggle with personally,
any kind of addiction, any kind of coping mechanism that
you know hasn't been healthy for you. And again, like

(06:26):
I said, whatever behaviors, relationships, addictions, know that those things
may come back up as a logical choice or solution
in the months ahead. And I'm saying this out loud
to everyone to start now telling on yourself. If you're
romanticizing ideas of oh I should pick up the phone

(06:48):
and text this person, you know, this person who was
a perpetrator or an abuser or psychologically abusive, maybe it
would be a good idea to meet them for lunch.
Like those those are the kinds of things that are
gonna that are gonna pop into your mind as really
logical and feel really good in the moment, but actually

(07:09):
are gonna be destructive. Or if it is alcohol or drugs,
oh I can just have a drink or maybe just
one time and I'll be fine, and then you know,
if you play the tape board where that goes. So
whatever your resources are, and the best resources in my
experience are friendships and community, support, community and telling on myself.

(07:35):
And am I always the best at doing that? No?
I always think that I can mastermind it in my
own mind and my own head. And this feels like
a season where that madness of masterminding things is gonna
that voice is gonna be really loud and delusional. So

(07:55):
now is the time to determine or discern who your
supports are, who your allies are, what your spiritual and
personal and recovery type toolkits are, and setting them in
motion now, putting them in place, having some fail safes,

(08:15):
even saying to the people that you love, whether it's
your spouse or your mom, your dad, a zibling, Hey,
I'm feeling a little off, like I'm feeling a little jankie,
I'm feeling a little squirrely in my head or I
can feel it coming on a little bit. So check
in on me and hold me to telling the truth,
hold me to saying hey today I'm not okay, and

(08:38):
not needing to fix or change me, but giving me
a safe space to be accountable. So figure out you
know who your go to people are that you can
tell on yourself now with who are those people who
love you no matter what, but that are there to
truly support you. And then also on the flip side
of that, who do you support If you can see

(09:06):
some of your friends faltering or struggling, it's not your
job or responsibility to fix, rescue, save them, but you
can reach out and let them know that you are supportive,
or you're thinking about them, or you can offer them
tools and resources, whatever it may be. Where you can
keep your own boundary strong, but reach out and be

(09:28):
of service to other people. And speaking of service, and
this is the note I will close on with this.
For me in my recovery journey, I know that a
lot of my disease, my disease in alcoholism and addiction,
it centers in my mind and it's very selfish and
self centered. So the antidote to that is being of service,

(09:52):
meaning getting out of myself and being of service to
someone else. And it's not about not taking care of
myself or not having self care, but looking for ways
that I can reach out and be supportive to other people.
Whether that is out in public in the world, or

(10:13):
reaching out and connecting with someone who I know may
be struggling. How can you be of service? And so
asking yourself over the course of the months ahead and
especially through the holiday season, when life gets busy, things
amp up, the energy is already amping up. Where can

(10:33):
you be of service where it doesn't feel like it
collapses and overburdens you, but where you can lend your
time and your energy and it actually feels revitalizing and
connective and it gets you out of the own, your
own dangerous neighborhood in your head. So just be mindful.

(10:55):
I guess this is a podcast truly about awareness are
in energy and some of the tricks and delusions that
I feel like are going to be very loud in
the months ahead. And you know, I've obviously talked about
addiction and alcoholism and whether again it's overeating or toxic relationships,

(11:16):
however that shows up for you, an eating disorder that
could be it too. This is also too regarding mental health.
I think that in the months ahead, the depression and
the suicidal thoughts and ideation will also spike because a
lot of times, with all of this bottoming out energy.

(11:38):
What accompanies it is depression, anxiety, and feeling worthless or
like we don't want to live, or nothing matters, things
are meaningless. And I think those voices are going to
get really, really loud in the next couple of months.
And I have felt it in my body and in

(11:59):
my meditation over and over, and instead of just pushing
that aside or trying to rewrite the program that's coming through,
it feels more imperative to share that with you all
and for us to remember that we are not alone
and that we are on these incredible evolutionary journeys. But

(12:21):
the energy is getting quite intense and dense, and I
feel like old stories, paradigms, illusions and delusions and coping
mechanisms are going to sound really sexy, like a great idea,
but in the cold light of day, they're not, and
they may lead us down darker, heavier pass and it's
going to be harder to climb back up out of

(12:43):
the hole. And that's the energy that I'm feeling, is
like falling back into old addictions and patterns that really
really dampen our light, our spirit, our connection with source
and our higher self. Falling back into those patterns. It
may we may not be able to crawl back out.

(13:05):
And I don't mean to say that to be any
kind of apocalyptic or discouraging or that you can't reset
and begin again. Of course you can. But there's something
in the energy that's saying, this is your time to
toe the line. This is your time to really really
arm yourself with your spiritual defenses. And that means telling

(13:28):
on yourself, being honest, asking for help from other people,
being of service to other people, and really really checking
in with the people that you love and with yourself
so you don't feel alone and praying for goodness sakes
talking to your higher self, asking your guides for help

(13:50):
and support for some reason. And when the energy gets
heavy and intense and we get into bottoming out and
low depressive type energies or the addictive of rhetoric starts
to really chatter in our head, we think we're alone,
and then we forget to talk to our soul, to
talk to our higher self, to get quiet and pray

(14:11):
and ask for guidance and support, to ask the troops
to come in. So really exercising your spiritual muscles right now,
but being honest and asking for help and surrounding yourself
with supportive people. If there was ever a time to
do it, the months now and the months ahead, it's

(14:34):
pretty imperative, all right, everyone, and give me some feedback
if this stuff is coming up for you, or if
you know someone who's struggling, or you're struggling yourself, what
you're doing, what's working for you. Just sometimes sharing your
story and your energy just changes the whole dynamic, the
paradigm and the energy field. The sharing sometimes is the shift.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
