Speaker 1 (00:04):
Happy Tuesday, everybody, Welcome to the Fifth Thing. I'm Amy,
and I've got my best friend high school. We met
when we were thirteen years old. Andrea here with me. Hi.
She flew in from Austin with her son to hang
out with us for the weekend because my husband was
on a work trip and we thought it'd be fun
for our sons to hang out and they'd be so

(00:24):
peaceful for us. But they've been awesome, but also, you
know boys, so we haven't quite got the relaxing weekend
we were hoping for. But it's also been really great
to catch up and spend time together. So that's some
encouragement that will throw your away if you have the
opportunity to catch up with an old friend or get
together with a friend that you can talk to them

(00:44):
about anything and there's no judgment and they can be
there for you and you can be there for them,
Like we recommend that, right, Yeah, absolutely. And then Andrea
knows that we start the Tuesday episodes off with a quote,
So why don't you start the fifth Thing off? So
I teach kindergarten in first grade, and I always talk
to my kiddos about and my students about making mistakes,

(01:08):
and mistakes are okay. Mistakes mean that you're trying. So
my quote is mistakes are proof that you're trying. Boom
kind of reminds me of Bobby's book Fail until you Don't. Yeah,
absolutely true. I mean not the exact same thing, but
you learn something every time you try right, right, and
so you'll want to check out that. That's I'll plug

(01:29):
Bobby's book here. He's not paying me to say this.
This is not an endorsement, but we'll get into the
emails that y'all have sent in. The first one is
from Sarah. Hey, Amy, I know life this year is
extra crazy and we all have to take time for ourselves.
I was wondering if you were ever able to find
a hobby or how you find a few moments to reset.
And Andrea noticed this big box in my entry way

(01:53):
and she said, what's this And I said, oh, that's
my new easel. My friend Gracie and I are going
to start painting together. So she ordered this exact easel.
So she sent me the link and I ordered it
and then she got me some paint and brushes and whatnot,
and we're gonna be getting together soon to start on
our first masterpiece, and I have painted before. That's right,

(02:14):
you painted that picture of like Taylor. Didn't you go
with me? Yeah, and we forgot the ticket, so, and
I don't know, early two thousand tens, so it was
maybe two thousand eleven or so. Were we were in Austin.
I lived in North Carolina, but in North Carolina, I
took art lessons with the sole purpose of painting Taylor

(02:38):
Swift's album cover from that time. I don't remember which
one it was, but her hair was all curly and
it was her face, and so I did it. And
then I took the painting with me to Texas and
Andrea and I had tickets to the meet and Green
and the show, and the whole plan was, and of
course this was a bit on the Bobby Bones show,

(02:58):
was that I took these lessons, painted this portrait of
Taylor and was going to give it to her in person.
So and I wanted to film the whole thing because, yeah,
we wanted to put it on our Bobby won't show
YouTube channel. I don't even think we had Instagram yet
at this point though. So then yeah, we get all
the way to the Frank Growin Center and Andrea is
with me. We're together, right, Yeah, we happened, and we

(03:21):
realized like halfway there, we forgot the time. I forgot
the tickets. Yea, yeah, me common, duh. And I think
Andrew's fallaly, like, okay, this is typical, but whatever. And
I was like, we have to get to the meet
and greet. And so I don't know if we called
my mom. We called your mom. She met me with
the tickets, but you had to go in. Yeah, becaun't
have anybody to film you. Yeah know, but even if

(03:42):
the thing was I thought we could film. But when
we got into the meet and greet, Taylor's people said,
no cameras, put them away. You can get a photo
with Taylor, but we will be taking it and then
it will print out for you when you leave. So
there was no cameras. So I had a little flip
cam at the time, and I think I just hit
record and add the audio rolling in my purse, so

(04:02):
you could hear Taylor saying I'm sure the audio t
She said thank you. This is what she said, you
were so talented, Oh my goodness. And I was like,
thank you. And then I think she said she loved it,
and somewhere in there. I heard she was going to
maybe hang it up somewhere, and at the time I
thought that maybe we had this connection and she was

(04:25):
going to do that. But now here we are nine
years later, and I'm pretty confident that it was donated
somewhere or putting the dumpster with probably a bunch of
other stuff. And even somebody ever label had given me
the impression that she was maybe going to hang it
on her tour bus, but I think that they were
just trying to make me feel better. There definitely no

(04:47):
the way that was happening. So anyway, all back to
my my new hobby that I'm trying to get into
because I know that I need to find something and
that I can do that will give me a dish
diraction from everything in the world. And and the fact
that my friend Gracie wants to do it and something together.
I love that you're doing it with another girlfriend. I

(05:07):
think that's great. Yeah, girls need time to bond, women
need time to bond. I think that's awesome that you
guys are going to do it together, even if you
paint nothing. Yeah, well, or just some kind abstract or something.
What what's your hobby? So hearing that you were seeking
a new hobby, like my my wheels are turning now,

(05:28):
and I'm like, man, I just feel like the only
time what fills my cup is like meeting up with
my friends, my girlfriends, and also just like going to
you know, a gym class or something like just to
try to, you know, distract myself from the rest of
what's going on or release some energy. So I don't know,
I'm still looking for that hobby right now. I don't know.

(05:49):
I'll order that easel, I have to know of painting,
handwriting classes. Maybe I'll take calligraphy. I need that. Andrews
really awesome, not great. So and then also, Sarah, you
asked how we find a few moments to reset, so
we'll both answer this. And for me, it's that I
do my breathing exercise, which is breathing for four, hold

(06:12):
for seven out for eight. My husband and I both
have been doing that a lot lately. But finding time
to breathe or going on a walk for me is
what I can do to reset. What about you? All right?
So I'm really big on a change of environment. So
even in my classroom, if a student is struggling or
needs to reset. If I can't take the child on

(06:33):
a walk, I will call somebody to come take a
student on a walk, and it helps me, especially through
distance learning. I've been working with my own child, and
any time we got frustrated, we'd put everything down and
just walk to the end of the block and back.
And it's it's amazing what the change of environment can
do for you. Good reset. Next email is from Alyssa. Hey, Amy,

(06:54):
I've noticed that when conversations on the Bobby Bones Show
come up about outweigh or eating disorders or Kyleie Short's podcast, etcetera,
Bobby either tries to make the conversation funny or doesn't
understand the seriousness of the topic. The way you speak
on eating disorders makes people like myself feel comfortable in
acknowledging our own issues with food, But Bobby's comments do

(07:15):
the opposite. Do you ever feel the same way when
he makes these comments? And Alyssa or I just realized
maybe it's a Lisa. What I'll say to this is
when you don't know, you don't know any better. And
Bobby's doing his best for where he is, and I
feel like he's in a place that a lot of
people are, So I don't know that I feel the
same way he makes when he makes the comments, but

(07:36):
I do understand where you're coming from. I think I
just also understand where he's coming from because not too
long ago, I was one of those same people, because
I didn't understand the seriousness of the language around it
and how important it is to choose what you're saying
about food and weight and disorder eating. All of that
is can be triggering to people or upsetting to people,

(07:58):
and you know, unless you're really in the world, I
don't think you know that there's a lot of that
happening and that there is a way to talk about
it that can be respectful to everybody. We grow up
with such a diet culture mentality that it's okay to
talk about how Bobby talks about it. I don't think
he's doing anything wrong, but I personally, in the last
several months, have made an effort to change the way

(08:19):
I talk about it on the air, and I know
that I haven't always been that way. So I have
grace for other people that don't because they're just not
in it, and if they were to take the time
to get into it or maybe follow some people that
are educating us on how to unlearn and relearn what
we need to. Then they'll get there. But this isn't
their lane. So for the sake of the show and

(08:41):
how many people we reach, I hope maybe one day
he'll get there because I also, and I tell him
this all the time, I worry about you. I don't
want you weighing yourself all the time or not eating.
But I know that he takes care of himself, and
I don't think he's doing anything to harm his body.
Are there some disordered methods in there? Yes, And again
all this is stuff that I have said and would

(09:03):
say to his face. So I'm not I mean, I'm
on his podcast network. I'm not talking bad about him
at all by any means. What I mean is you've
got to have grace for people in your life that
maybe aren't there yet with it, and society as a
whole is not there yet. So I don't think that
we can expect that from people, especially in the public eye.
I also think the best way to reach people and

(09:23):
for people to understand is by you know, kind of
leading by example. Right now, we're like in such a
culture of like getting angry at people for saying the
wrong thing or maybe saying something that might upset you
instead of having grace and then leading by example and
you choosing the dialogue that you want to put forth
in the words that you want to say. I think
that has a huge impact on the people, especially the

(09:45):
close people around you. They notice. So, you know, it's
just it takes time. And I'm still new to this too.
It does. It takes time, and I catch myself slipping.
I'm like, oh, but that's on me. You know, it's
not my job to change anybody else. It's my job
to just be me and and change my vocabulary so
that it maybe it impacts some of the people around me,
right right. I don't stop Bobby in the middle of

(10:07):
tell him, Hey, you shouldn't say that, you know, I
just do my party. I either let him say what
he's going to say, and I hold back because I
don't want to get into him to think I'm debating,
and because that's not the place if he's trying to
share a story. And here's the deal. A lot of
the prep that comes our way or news articles or
there's articles up every day, so the whole show submits

(10:27):
prep every day, and we all have this word document
that we can log into, and some prep is sent
by email you don't see what other people send. And
then we have a group doc where you see everything,
and everyone is submitting articles that are diet culture related
or this study was recently done that you should be
doing this if you want to lose weight. I mean,
there's always stories, and that's what people want to hear

(10:49):
because that's what we're used to hearing. I don't anymore,
but I used to, so I could also see why
Sometimes that's what Bobby brings to the table because it
is an interesting study that was on and he wants
to share it. Now I have started to not share
those here on the podcast because I have complete control
of my content, so I've shifted the way I do
things here. But yeah, I have no judgment or anything

(11:12):
with how Bobby is handling what we do on the show.
But I hope that you just understand that not everybody's
going to be on the same level when it comes
to every single major issue. Now would it be amazing
if we all were. Yeah, but every go Alyssa for
recognizing that that isn't positive self talk or positive way
to go about talking about bodies. I think just by

(11:32):
recognizing that, that's great. Yeah, and you don't have to
cancel anybody or cancel culture anything, I think. But if
something is not serving you well and it's not making
you feel good, then yeah, you need to take a
break from it. But hopefully on the Bobby Bones Show
at least we have a balance of different viewpoints and

(11:53):
you can agree with somebody at some point, and hopefully
you don't have to not listen to us completely, but
you're on the podcast. If it's me putting together all
the content, and all of it's on me, then if
I ever do anything that could be triggering or makes
you feel that way, then I could totally see you
not listening anymore, and that would make sense. But I
hope that if you'll feel that way, you would send
me emails, because I know people have sent me emails

(12:13):
before and I have appreciated it. So thanks for the note.
But that is how I feel when it comes to
Bobby's comments related to that. I understand where he's coming from.
I used to do the exact same thing, so I
get it, and that's just where we are with it
for now. Next email is from Chandler. Hey, I remember
a long time ago, you talked about how you can't
drink coffee, but I've seen you post stories with coffee

(12:34):
and coffee creamer. So I was wondering what brand or
products got you back on the coffee train, or if
something medical changed for you. And Chandler, I will say
this probably comes from my I don't know disordered eating days.
But I got one of those tests done where it
tells you what your food sensitivities are. UM and this
was maybe four years ago. And while I think if

(12:55):
you do have something wrong with your body, you need
to figure out if there are certain foods that are
going to cause you inflammation, I personally didn't have much wrong.
I wanted to just figure out how I could decrease
inflammation in hopes of losing weight in some way, shape
or form. So I wanted to get this test done.
And I don't think that I would have been as
honest about that back then. I thought, I just need

(13:16):
to know I don't want inflammation because inflammation causes disease,
and I would use that as my disguise instead of
it really being about maybe I can shed more weight
if I don't consume these foods. Yes, and there are
people that really need that if they do have some
issues going on, but I did not. I probably would
have told you at the time that I did. But
coffee ended up on my severe, so did blueberries, avocados, almonds,

(13:41):
lots of foods that I loved, and I cut all
of them out, and I love avocados, and I was like,
I don't really notice that anything happens to me when
I eat blueberries or avocados. But what that test did
to me, which again I think these tests can be
good for some people, but for me, it was bad.
It got to be where I couldn't even eat a
blue berry because I thought something was my face was

(14:03):
going to break out or my was gonna get really bloated.
So I shunned coffee, shunned blueberries, shunned almonds, shunned so
tired all the things. Tuna. I love tuna, and it
was on my severe So that is why I wasn't
drinking coffee. And then, honestly, I did think that I

(14:23):
felt better. Now that I know how our brains work,
I have no idea honestly, if I felt better. I
think I wanted to convince myself that I felt better,
so I have let coffee back in, and honestly, I
feel fine. I just don't allow myself as much as
I used to because speaking of disordered eating days, I
used to rely on coffee to curb my appetites, so
I would end up drinking way too much coffee and

(14:45):
then I would feel tired. But it's because I wasn't
eating enough food. So now I allow myself coffee and
I drink a cup of day and I'm satisfied and
maybe if I have to have another one or like
a latte. Lattees are mostly what I do, and espresso
with some almond milk and then the creamer I've been
using is Califia Farms has a Pumpkins bice one that
I got a couple of weeks ago because I was
very ready for fall. And then at the grocery store

(15:06):
last week, I saw like a peppermint mocha and I
had to get that because I'm ready for Christmas, Like
Who's Mary and I were talking about Christmas the other
day because we're going to do our four things customized
pullovers in the Red and I think for they're going
to go up in less than two weeks, in like
mid October you're going to be able to customize your

(15:27):
Christmas pullovers because people are ready. We want something to
look forward to. That's just you know, Christmas is fun,
it's nice. I know we want to, like you know,
we just skip November. That would be great because that's
my birthday. I love Thanksgiving to Andrea's birthday is on
Thanksgiving this year. Sometimes isn't. I don't know. I haven't

(15:48):
looked this year, but it's sometimes. I thought I heard
you say that it was on but yeah, normally it is.
Let's check it out. No, yours is the day before Thanksgiving,
so it's on Wednesday, and then Thanksgiving on Thursday. So
all that to say, back to the coffee and the
coffee creamer. If you want coffee, drink it. If you
want to put creamer in your coffee, do it. There's

(16:10):
nothing wrong with that. And for so long I lived
in a fear that I couldn't have any of that.
And like Andrew, and I took the kids to Starbucks
today and went through the drive through, and it was
so awesome to just order an almond milk latte and
move on with my day. I used to freak out
about what kind of almond milk to Starbucks shoes. Is
it organic? What are the ingredients? How many grams of sugar?

(16:32):
I wouldn't I do like the milk that I use
at home, And I'm not anti sometimes making sure I've
got my own milk, but I'm not going to go
out of my way for it anymore. I used to
go above and beyond. I would travel with my milk
kind of Oh that I was like, I have a
friend that used to travel a long way to find
really good milk, but she lives in a pretty remote
town and she was traveling to a farm to get Well,

(16:55):
that's different from a farm. That's totally different. I've I
would drive to a farmed in our milk if I could.
But no, I meant I would take my milk with
me on a trip. I would bottle it secure, yeah, undress, yes,
and I would that with cookies. I would promote that
on here to you guys. So I am sorry for that.

(17:16):
And again, if you're someone that needs to do that
for your overall health, you have an autoimmune thing or something,
I am not speaking to you. I'm speaking to the people.
If you are like me that used just being quote
unquote healthier wanting to take care of my body as
an excuse to just wear myself out and be super

(17:37):
exhausted stressing out about the latte, which the stress we
cause over what we're consuming could end up doing us
more damage than what we're actually consuming. So keep that
in your back pocket for when you need it and
you're starting to freak out, just breathe and ordered the
dang latte with whatever milk you will milk. I usually
do that. What depends on the kind of coffee I'm drinking,

(18:00):
but so my husband and I use either French vanilla,
you know, the nest Lee's French vanilla, whatever is in
our fridge, or we use heavy whipping cream and it's
good yum, depending on the coffee bean. Though, you know, oh,
I need to get my sister because that's as you
can drink it straight and it's like, it's so good.

(18:20):
I am so proud of my sister, which you know,
channel A part of your email was asked if there
was a brand or product that got me back into coffee,
and it wasn't my sister's coffee, but that is what
we use now and it's so good. And her and
her husband they bought a coffee shop a year ago
or so. And then my sister and her husband also

(18:40):
have something else really exciting happening to them that's really
weird and crazy and I can't wait to share it
with you all. But it is bizarre. It's been in
the process for almost two years, but we've never talked
about it. My sister barely would let herself talk about
it because she just didn't think it was really going
to pan out. And we still actually don't know if
it's going to pan out. But where they are in
the process, it's like thing wheels are in motion and

(19:03):
things are happening, So now it seems very real and
it's kind of crazy. I want to say that my
sister and Hasn't might be having their own TV show,
But they're just such a great couple, and I mean,
they're just real and your sister is amazing and so
has Ben, and their family is great, and I'm excited
to see I know, I don't really know what it's

(19:24):
gonna be like, but they already started filming some things,
and that's all I can say. I guess I can't
give network details about the network is a big deal,
but who knows. My also just My sister is really
hesitant to really talk about it because she's like, I mean,
it seems like a huge deal, but then what if
they get in there, Like it's just put it straight
on the on YouTube. Well YouTube is big not I mean,

(19:48):
it just depends I guess from a network TV show
like go on to put it on your TV channel
watching it. They maybe put it on their website. It's
like a bonus episode or something. But who knows. Their
coffee shop is at Roothouse co on Instagram if you
want to follow them. And then Andrew and p Sprangs. Yeah,
my friend Kate, who also lives in Pagosta Springs, reached

(20:12):
out to me not long ago and she was like,
your friend's sister and her husband have an amazing new
coffee shop in Peace Springs shout out. So that was
really cool to hear. The locals just love it. As
a teacher there too, if you're ever vacationing there there,
or you live in Colorado near there, y'all should go.
It's right in downtown Pagosta Springs and she has a

(20:32):
cute little shop and we have four things totes in
there and four things zip pouches. And then she may
start carrying some pimp and Joy, but then she also
has some awesome products that she shops for. Yes, I
love the matches in the bottle. She has Choose Joy spoons.
So if you're ever wanting to go through there and
find some cute gifts for people, then you can do that.
And Andrew, what's your Instagram for? Are you public or private?

(20:54):
I'm public, throw it out there. I go private, but
it's Tanners. I teaches, And that's because my husband's name
is Austin, but everybody calls him Tanner and that's his
last name. And she's his bride. Yeah, and I'm his
bride and she's so perfect to just be Tanner's bride.
And we switched that. I think it's because you you're

(21:15):
like Tanner. We need because I teach, and I put
I do put teaching content on there. I hook up
with other teachers through my Instagram and find inspiration or products.
So and then she's helping with some of Stevenson, my

(21:39):
son's homework motivation and printing out this chart thing where
and we've done the sticker thing before in our house,
but we also have done the thing where if he
doesn't read his twenty minutes, then he has something taken away.
Andrea and even our therapist that works with us has advised,
like maybe for anything homework related, don't take anything away.
And so now we're just what a building towards stars?

(22:01):
You can't just build. You can't lose anything. You can't
lose your tablet, you can't lose anything. You just won't
get your star. Yeah, and it's it is extrinsic, right,
I mean, but that's where you have to start. It's
it's very concrete. And if he reads for twenty minutes
and does his assigned homework or just reads for twenty minutes,
then he gets a sticker. It could just be start
with five, right, So five stickers he gets to choose

(22:23):
from a list of things that he wants to do,
and that just might be like date night with mom
or a movie night with mom, or it could be
like a small toy, right, And then you build it
to ten stickers and then twenty, and then eventually it's
going to be very intrinsic because you're reminding him as
you go. Doesn't that feel good to get get done?
And doesn't it feel wouldn't that fun to read together?

(22:45):
I loved hearing you read. So it's just becomes habit
and it becomes a piece of him, like, this is
what I do because I'm responsible, And this is what
I do because I'm learning right, and I do that
every time I get gas in my car. I need
This is what I do because I am an adult.
So we need stickers right now. But I will say,

(23:10):
just to reiterate the part of that we were doing
wrong was if he did not complete, we were taking
things away, and so now we are just focusing on Okay, Well,
that means you won't get your sticker, So he'll circle back.
It may take a little bit, he'll eventually come back
and be like, Okay, I need my sticker. It won't
be that of us. You'll have your nights right, escalating

(23:30):
it to World War three by removing something that he loves.
So teach your point, go ahead. Homework should just be
an extension of the day, right. So if there's parents
out there struggling because your child cannot finish their homework
because they don't understand the content, please reach out to
your teachers. Let them know they don't understand the content,
they didn't learn it because it shouldn't be something new.

(23:53):
Homework should always be, if it is right, an extension
of the day. This is my personal opinion, but I
know it's the opinion of a lot of teachers. Homework
from kindergarten through fifth sixth grade should be an extension
of the day, and it shouldn't take longer than about
twenty five minutes. Don't battle alone. Reach out to your teachers.
Oh and then with the battle, I will say, I've

(24:15):
been listening to a book. I've been listening to two books.
One called The Connected Parent, which is specifically if you've
adopted or maybe you're fostering lean into something like that.
I had already read The Connected Child, but this is
The Connected Parent. But then I'm also listening to The
Self Driven Child, and there's a whole section. I don't
know how many because I'm not through the book, but
at least in the beginning, there's a whole chunk that

(24:36):
is about how to create children to motivate their own
selves to do their homework and not you, Because when
you're the main factor that's driving it, it's doing them
a disservice into their adulthood. It will be a challenge
for them when you want it and you shouldn't fight
them on it if they're not ready for it. It It
needs to be their decision to want to do it.

(24:57):
So I'm paraphrasing, but the Self Driven Child and I
really enjoyed that book as well, so check that out.
And then before we go, I'll just say to Laura
Bishop from Laura Bishop Coaching, I think I had emailed
you back saying I was going to share your email
in the fifth thing, but we're already at the thirty
minute mark, and I try to keep these episodes at
fifteen minutes, but since I had Andrea here with me,

(25:17):
it's a little bit longer. But I will make your email,
which I just thought was really inspiring and I wanted
to share with everyone who wasn't really a question but
more of a personal story that you wrote, and it
was about how you hold on to hope during this
crazy time of uncertainty. So I will just be making
that a thing this coming Thursday as one of the

(25:39):
four things that I share on Thursday's episodes. So if
you were listening for your little story here, it'll be
up on Thursday. And thank you Andrea for coming hang
out with me for a few days and for doing
this with me. This was awesome. I'm proud of you.
I'm proud of you. Yeah. And then if you'll live
in Austin, go to the Culver's up in North Austin, Breaker, Breaker, Breaker,

(26:02):
and Cramer on the corner and to the domain. Yeah,
Andrew's family they owned that Culver's. And Andrea was there
the day that I met Bobby at Culver's. So really,
I wouldn't be sitting here even recording this right now
if it wasn't for Andrea, because if it wasn't for
me meeting her at Culver's that day, because I wouldn't
have gone if I wasn't meeting her there. And I
don't even know really why we met. Probably just to

(26:25):
hang out, right, because we're all sitting there? Are you working? No?
We just met up there, Okay, we met to hang
out or whatever. And you we you notice, you're like,
I think that's Bobby in the boothby Bones, and you
said who? Yeah? And then my dad said, well, here
I go give some coupons. So Andrew's dad gave me
Culver's ice cream cubons and I went over and I said, hey,

(26:47):
are you Bobby Bones? And he said yes, I said,
I listened to your show every morning. I had an
hour drive to work every day, so it's really it
entertained me. And so I said, here or some ice
cream pubons and he was sitting there eating alone because
he was getting his tires rotated and getting old or
something something adult and being super responsible. But we're just
looking to get our guest takes. You can't even fill

(27:07):
it up. But that was how I met Bobby. So
if I had not met Andrew there that day, then
I would have never never met Bobby. Then I wouldn't
have ended up on the show, and then we wouldn't
be sitting here because I would not have my own podcast.
So thank you, Andrea. You're welcome, okay, and thank you
to everyone that listens. If you have not subscribed, I

(27:28):
hope that you will. If you want to, you can
go do that and write and review. That would be awesome. Andrea,
have you ever rated and reviewed my podcast? I don't
know if I've ever rated and interviewed any projects. I mean,
but I will definitely do your thanks five stars. Yeah, absolutely,
What do you say? Can you write the episode? I
would write this one. What are you gonna say? Well,

(27:49):
I don't know, I have to curate something. It'll be good, Okay,
thanks for it. Also yesterday, just quickly, while Andrew's here
and talking about curating something, she helped me take my
picture for my teacher tote giveaway that I put up
on at Radio Amy, which I announced the winner on
Monday at noon. So that giveaway is closed, But just
want to say a huge thank you to all the

(28:10):
teachers that were submitted, teachers that submitted themselves, and I
wish I could give There was thousands and thousands of posts,
and I wish that I could give a tote and
or t shirt to everybody. I know Mary and I
both feel that way, and we're just trying to do
our part to make sure that teachers get the recognition
and appreciation that they need. And I know Andrea backs
me upon this as a teacher that even just a

(28:33):
thank you note or a text is thank you enough,
like just verbalizing that you appreciate them and you recognize,
especially in twenty that things are really hard. But Andrea
on the SPOA Friday Night Live the other night brought
up that it's really cool sometimes when her parents of
her kids she teaches, they put five dollars on your
Starbucks card. Just emails, especially right now with COVID, I'll

(28:56):
get an email saying somebody has shared a five dollar
card with you at you know, Starbucks or something. It's
just so or go to their Amazon wish list. So
many teachers have Amazon wish lists, and you can get
Expo markers or Flair pens or something like that. So yeah,
that could be five ten dollars or less. And then
if you have a little bit more in your budget,
you could do something like the teacher four Things tote

(29:19):
or the teacher four Things shirt or pull over, which
I think would be a super cute gift. And then
if your budget allows for that, you can do like
I did and filled a tote up with goodies. I
just went to Target and got a bunch of different things,
which the post is that radio Amy if you want
to see what all I put in there. But I
did markers and pencils and popcorn and coffee, and so

(29:39):
just find however you can. We're all at different points
with our budget, we're all at different places in life.
And I don't think a teacher is gonna we don't
expect care what it is. Just make sure just as
long as you're putting forth effort to say thank you,
I think that that will go a long way. And
it also want to help your kid out. I'm just saying,

(29:59):
I'm I hope it does for mine. I'm just saying,
looking first, some bees or some seeds maybe, or a's
if we could put your remember remember that cute toad
I got you. Okay. I hope you'll have a great
day and or week or whatever morning whenever you're listening
to this, whatever you're doing, take time for yourself at

(30:20):
some point, take time to breathe, take time to find
new environment if you need to go for a walk.
And then Andrews share your quote one more time. Yeah,
mistakes are proof that you're trying. So if you mess
up today or tomorrow and the next day, like I've
messed up a lot lately in parenting, in life and work, whatever,
in friendship, we're growing from it. So mistakes are okay, now,

(30:40):
miss day mistakes are okay. Mistakes are okay,

Have you ever wondered what life might be like if you stopped worrying about being wanted, and focused on understanding what you actually want? That was the question Hope Woodard asked herself after a string of situationships inspired her to take a break from sex and dating. She went "boysober," a personal concept that sparked a global movement among women looking to prioritize themselves over men. Now, Hope is looking to expand the ways we explore our relationship to relationships. Taking a bold, unfiltered look into modern love, romance, and self-discovery, Boysober will dive into messy stories about dating, sex, love, friendship, and breaking generational patterns—all with humor, vulnerability, and a fresh perspective.
