Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cease and uh in studio Republican State Central Committee District
twenty Carrie Masterson. He's in studio which is Licking, Fairfield
and Perry Counties. And Carrie, great to meet you. Thank
you for coming in, for having me. Man, this is
great that that you decided to come in. I know
when we were going back and forth last week, it

(00:20):
was just like, hey, we can have you call in,
and then you were like, well, I've been in before.
But and then that actually for me when we started
that back and forth, I go, oh, well, I'll just
if you're cool with coming in because it's a bit
of a trek right to get here a little bit right. Yeah,
but I was glad that you said yeah, I'll come in.
And then of course GOP strategist Bob Clegg has decided

(00:42):
to come in and hang with us his way. And uh,
you were coming off of some knee works last time
we had spoke. Yeah, you said, uh, you know, you
were like, well, I can come in, but I got
to get a ride.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
You couldn't drive, right.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
You couldn't drive because drive for like two weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Which knee.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
It's my right knee, so accelerator problematic.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Oh that's the if you drive with one foot on it,
then yeah, that's a double wham. You can't stop and
you can't really accelerate, so you're just you know. On
a side note, it just made me. It popped into
my otherwise empty head. My parents, at least my dad
drives with two feet. He drives with his left foot
and his right foot left left foot. Being a brain,

(01:24):
that would be too confusing. But he's eighty two, so
he learned that way.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
So it's funny because all of us kids, my sisters,
but I have older sisters, we all learned, you know,
one foot, Yeah, because that's the newer way, I guess,
but newer being still old.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
But but I.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Was just thinking, right, I was thinking, what, you can't
drive with your left leg, bob.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah. I think it's a little tricky if you're not
used to that. Yeah, it does. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
I don't know anybody who drives with two feet like
that unless there's a clutch. Yeah, okay, there it is.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Was that a thing?

Speaker 1 (02:02):
I don't know?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
They just learned that way. So do you break with
the left yes, and gas with the yes?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Yes? Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
How did you do both at the same time.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Well, I've never I've never witnessed that of you with
your mom.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I've written with my dad plenty of times.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
I've never seen him do that where he meant to
hit one or the other and it was like, oops,
I meant to hit the gas and I'm pushing on
the It's never happened.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
And I've also never seen him try to do both
at the same time.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
Like kind of what you're doing, that's called power breaking,
by the way, if and and because you can do
that with the old car, like the old cutlass and
and that's where they roast, you know, they create this
that's called from what I understand, that's what it's called
power breaking or whatever.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
I've never seen my dad do that either. Really.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
But anyway, thank you guys for for coming in and
this is this is really cool. I've had a couple
of different listeners hit me up up and go, hey, man,
you guys gonna do something on issue one because.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Guess what it's coming up?

Speaker 1 (03:06):
And I'm confused, and I go, here we go again
with issue one.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yet it's not about abortion this time.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
However, the left would want you to think that based
on the commercials that we're seeing and I was telling
you carry too. I was like seeing all the different
ads and the all the shenanigans that started again, and
I go, why.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Am I acting like I'm surprised about this.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Because I shouldn't be, because that's what they want confusion.
Then Trump does the endorsement on the no vote, and
I feel like people are like, well, maybe I don't
really technically understand it, but I know if he's a
no vote on it, then I'm voting no.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
And I go, you know what I mean kind of thing,
So take us through.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
And I was even telling you guys for me went on,
I'm like, explain this to me, like I'm in eighth grade.
As far as you know, Issue one goes jerry mandering
and all of those things which you pointed out. You're like,
I wish they'd do this in Illinois.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
No, I'd brought up with the map. I wish we
could show our listeners look at that, look at that. Oh,
I mean, but that's fine, that's good.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
That Illinois is okay because it's all jerry mandered. But
it's they're not against jerrymandering. They're against what.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
It is, Democrat jerry mander And this is you know
Eric Holder and his buddies, and all they care about
are states that have majority Republicans that draw their districts.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
That's what this is all about.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
So, Kerrie, when when you like, when this whole thing starts,
are you going, yeah, we definitely need This is something
that you spend. This is why you're doing what you
do to try to make sure people understand exactly what's
happening here right.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
In The early voting starts October eighth. So that's why
I wanted to get in and here as soon as
I could. Bob has been there, He's been a part
of the redistricting on maps, and so he's the expert.
I'm the party cheerleaders what I call him myself. So
I'm making this happen. Open the door and so here
I am. But yeah, yeah, we want to get the

(05:05):
word out of why they need to vote no, because
the ads, of course, are confusing, just like last year,
and voters are probably going to be very confused when
they get to the pulling locations because it is very verbose.
I think they said there's six pages that they will
hit the next button on and a lot of them

(05:26):
show up to vote not knowing what it is all about.
And then they expect us pool workers to be able
to explain it to them, and we can't. So then
they're frustrated.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
And so when you say you can't, it's because that's
the laws, right, You're not allowed to go here's what
it is, which is the thing.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
So what is that about?

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Is that because they can't stand there and make sure
that you're not slanting it one way or another.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
If you'll are.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Quote unquote explaining it because you represent the Republican Party,
which is clearly a no vote on this. So if
you begin explaining it, which by the way, would just
be the correct way explain it wouldn't be a slanted way.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
It would be like, this is what it is. And
then somebody from you know, some.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Some blue perp would go, wait a minute, you're you're
slanting it, you know, No, it's this, this is how
I'm explaining it, and then it would come off as oh,
and then I don't know what ensues from there, but
you're like, look, I'm not trying to get into election
laws or get.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Any you know kind of right. Yeah, yeah, anything sideways
happening there.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
You have to have a Democrat and a Republican. It's
just someone with everything you do at the polline location anyway.
Sure it's not biased.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Right right?

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Yeah, So anyway, so you know you were going to explain,
so you know what is that people are going? Okay,
I know Trump was a no endorsement for Issue one.
I know he was an, but I still maybe want
to understand exactly what it is why I'm voting no,
kind of like what you just said.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Well, for one thing, it is going to amend our
constitution once again, just like last year if they vote
yes on this, which it will make it very difficult
to try to reverse it if it does pass. And
it also it's enshrining gerrymandering for a democratic win basically

(07:16):
into our constitution. We already had bipartisan initiatives passed in
twenty fifteen and twenty eighteen to make these fair. We
have compact districts now, and now all of a sudden,
they're not fair districts and they need to be redone.
And what they are doing is forming a commission that

(07:39):
will be appointed, not elected, so they cannot be accountable.
And they also have a minimum of seven million dollars
to spend with no cap so it's also going to
cost taxpayers plenty of money.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Then where is there money coming from?

Speaker 4 (07:56):
I would like to know outside the state, the country,
outside the country and money coming in. Yes, And to
tell you who is funding it? I can't remember all
of them, but it's the typical left leaning organizations and people.
Steven Spielberg, for one, and his wife both donated. I

(08:17):
think it was fifty thousand a piece, and the Tides Foundation,
the Open Society connected to George Soros, a c LU.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
This is, this is fact. This is not we think
this is. This is fact because there has to be
transparency where the money is coming from. Correct? Correct, So
this is fact.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
This is not so if you're somebody who's going no,
that's incorrect. If you're listening right now, you are the
one that is incorrect. Because this is fact, period, end
of story. That is who is funding this particular all
of the ads.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
And everything with this correct exactly, Okay?

Speaker 3 (08:57):
And and this is their game plan and for all
of their campaigns for these constitutional amendments like last year's,
it's always out of state, out of country money. That's
the way they operate. Their proposals are not popular enough
that they can get money raise money from Ohioans, So

(09:21):
they have to go to left wing groups to get
the money to advertise, you know, these issues.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
That's the way they operate.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
So when you're saying, like, for instance, because Trump won
Ohio by what nine percent? Somewhere around a lot, let's
just say a lot. And as a result, there would
not be enough Ohioans who would put in on this
if you will, and say oh, yeah, we're about this with.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
This one, there's enough Ohioans that even care about it
to put money into it. So they have to go
because it's all an ideological push, So they have to
go to their idea to a lot you know, funders
to get the money to put this stuff on the ballot.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Man, okay, and I know yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
And it's citizen that let's see, citizens not politicians. They
make it sound like it's the citizen led thing, but
it's not. You know, I don't know what George Torrows
and the Spielberg's and whomever else has an interest in
our Ohio constitution.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
You know, they have an interest because they want it
blue exactly.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
That's the interest.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
It's not the citizens, it's the elites, you know. That's
that's who's behind this. It's not a citizen group. It's
in the elite. It's the liberal elites you know in
our country that just want to you know, try to
get power any way they can.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
I'm seeing it all over It's not just happening in
Ohio either.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Now, this is a concerted effort.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
This is kind of like, you know, the their.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Whining twenty twenty five project, twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (11:02):
This is the kind of stuff that they put into
place in twenty twenty. I want to talk to nobody
wants to talk about liberal liberal you know, the twenty
twenty project, which is what they had in mind the
whole time that once we get Trump out of the way,
then we're gonna go after the States on an individual level,

(11:22):
because they know, I think well said there, they have
no credibility left.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
So the only way they can.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
Get what they want is not by making arguments because
nobody's listening to their arguments because they're nonsensical. So they
have to go in and alter the constitution. They have
to go in and pay for judges and pay for prosecute.
I mean, it is, it's so clear. And then when
you bring up George Sorosi. Oh, conspiracy theorist. It's not

(11:52):
a conspiracy. It's right there. That's sob just bought.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Two hundred radio stations and lost. What's he gonna do
with that? Oh he's I mean, it's unbelievable. Oh, he's
gonna play our favorite music.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
He's always wanted to be in the radio business, from
what I understand Soros has if you read any of
his biographies, that was one of the things he's always
wanted to do his own radio stations.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
That is a scary thing, by the way.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
He's using it as basically I mean, I mean, this
is a playbook right out of George Orwell's nineteen eighty
four and.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
They pushed that through the FCC right before the election
because they saw what maybe coming down the pike.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Yeah. Man, this is uh.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Well, when again with regard to who's funding this stuff,
you know, carry just listed them out.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
This is fact, period, end of story. It is fact.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
It is not conspiracy. And uh that's the thing that
is that it's hard when you know, I kind of
I go back to this equation. It seems like we
I say this a lot, but it's this huge dam
and you got these leaks springing everywhere. And here, you know,
John and I are, and Bob to a certain extent

(13:02):
because he's on with us so much. And of course
you carry because of what you do with the State
Central Committee.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
But you only have.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
So many fingers and toes to plug all of the
leaks that are. And it's people that are constantly doing
oh this, or you guys are wrong or you and
it is. It is so hard over it. And some
days I even say it. I'm like, Josh, you got
to talk me off the ledge. I mean, it's crazy.
Some days when we come in and this is yet
another one of those things you just go. It is relentless,

(13:30):
no matter which way we turn. It's like the onslaught
of attack. It is crazy. That's why I don't understand.
And I've even said this to the president, President Trump.
It's like, how do you continue to you know?

Speaker 2 (13:43):
And and Don Junior was on with us.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
I even said, I don't understand how your dad does it.
Why would he subject himself to the just incoming fire
constantly from every direction in his life? And that's kind
of what this whole thing is about. And once again,
here we go again. This has a real chance of passing,
doesn't it very much? And that's big, big, big trouble

(14:05):
for Ohio.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
It is because we cannot compete with their money. They have,
like I think over twenty six million now they've put
behind this, and maybe three a little over three million
comes from in state something like that, and we have
like one point seven to oppose it.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
I mean, this is the problem with issue campaigns. The
whole key to issue campaigns is education, and to do
education of the voters, it takes a lot of money.
And our side once again doesn't have the money to
educate our voters.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Why why besides the obvious, why why what is our
problem raising money?

Speaker 1 (14:45):
That's everyone screaming that right now? The idea our problems
get raised? Anybody I was told that were I thought
we were supposed to be, oh conservatives. You know what
they're all about helping the wealthy. Well, where's all of
our wealthy friends to give us the money?

Speaker 2 (14:56):
I say, it gets down to who wants it bad?

Speaker 3 (15:00):
And I wonder sometimes we here in Ohio as Republicans.
You know, we're in great shape. I mean, we win
them all, okay, And I just don't want us to
get fat and lazy and I'm afraid we're getting fat
and lazy. And the Democrats, who are pathetic, have to
do things like this. They bring in outside groups to

(15:22):
try to change the rules because under our present rules
they can't win elections. And you know what, when you
run statewide it's not jerry mandered, and they still can't win. So,
I mean, they're so pathetic they bring in these outside
groups to try to change the rules so that they
are in their favor so they can start winning some elections.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Here GOP strategist Bob Clagg and studio. Also Republican State
Central Committee District twenty Carrie Masterson.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Is in studio as well.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
You guys, hang tight more with them here in just
a couple of minutes. And by the way, if you
have questions, a two to one WTVM.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
WAN hundred and six and ten WUTV and.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
This would be perfect, especially with issue one of view
of questions about this, This is a perfect time to
fire away. If you're one of those people going, well,
I have this specific question. Please, by all means, grab
a line and we'll get to your phone calls, traffic
