Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hertfeat Saint Louis with TJA aka holiday bringing you the
pulse of the city.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Hey, what's up christ boy? Doctor dj TJ Holiday And
of course this is the time of the year where
people be like, man, I need a job. I gotta
make some money. I don't know where I'm a guy
to work, but I hope somebody hiring. Anyway, my good
friends over at Goodwill they're going to be having a

(00:31):
job fair in October. And the person that's here to
talk about it and let you know when it is
and how you can feel a lot of application. She's
the vice president of HR. I am and you know
what you see how she said that? So that means
ladies and gentlemen, I have to be on my best behavior.

(00:56):
That means I have to ask d right question the
right way. So I gotta be very very professional right
now because she's got that look. See that's the HR
look right there. That look right, there's an HR look.
And in the house today we got chastity dolls. Right. Yes,

(01:17):
how you doing?

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I am great?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
How are you well?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
You know me?

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Every day is a holiday?

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yes it is?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Did I say that right?

Speaker 3 (01:24):
You did say that right?

Speaker 2 (01:26):
You did so let's start here. You guys having a
job fair. When is the job fair?

Speaker 3 (01:32):
So our job fare is a two days job fair.
It'll be October fifteenth and sixteen.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
October fifteenth and sixteenth, well after Sister Strut it is.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
We are actually also participating in.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
That's what I know. Ye if y'all didn't know, you know,
Sister Strut going down October fourth downtown Saint Louis our
sixteen down. You're now if you want to register, you
can register for only twenty dollars. Twenty dollars you do
a registration Sista s t r u t sto dot com.
That means it's Sister Strut sto dot com. And we

(02:05):
appreciate you guys participating with us and Sister Struck. We
really appreciate that. So you guys are having a job fair.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
We are, yes. This is our third annual joy Fare.
Last year was our actual biggest jafare that we had.
We had over three hundred and fifty people register, about
two hundred and twenty five people actually attended, and then
we hired about one hundred and sixty four people last year.
Some of those people we actually hired on the spot
in the jaw fair.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Okay, now, why did you guys feel like you know
you you hunt? You hired over one hundred some people
last year, So why is it you guys feel y'all
need to come back and do it again? I mean
is it that? Are you having a hot turnover or
you guys are just saying, hey, you know what, we
want to make sure we have enough staff to make
sure that when people come in that they are served properly.

(02:57):
Is that pretty much?

Speaker 1 (02:57):
It?

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Absolutely so? What people don't know, oh, is that when
they donate or shop, you know, that goes back to
our programs that we have. So to ensure that we
have people that are a part of those programs that
are helping our people find jobs and have an opportunity
out here, we need to make sure that those positions
are filled and they always remain field. So one of

(03:19):
the things that's super important to us is, you know,
empowering people through the power work. That's that's you know,
breaking down barriers every every single day. When people have
a job, they are independent, right, they have a means
to prepare and take care of their families. And that's
what's important to us. So we're not only trying to
ensure that our community have jobs. But we also want
to make sure that, you know, people understand that we

(03:42):
provide opportunities for long term careers. You know, in our
Excel center, we had a graduate that graduated from our
Excel center five years ago and she's now a registered nurse.
That's what's important to us. So this job fair not
only impacts people getting jobs, but having long term careers.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Right, So, and where's the job for going to be?

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yes, So it'll be held at our headquarters on Locus
seventeen to twenty seven. Locus Street is where our joy
fare will be held.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Okay, Now, a lot of people hear about goodwill, right,
you hear about it, but they really don't understand. They
just feel like you some people that you got this
company and then you just come in and go buy
these clothes and somebody then said that you know, they
have it of the give back to the community, and
you go in and you pay a small price for it. Right.

(04:28):
Talk about some of the things that you guys do
community wise, because you guys participate in Sisters Struck pretty
much every year.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
We do absolutely, yes, So, yeah, that's that's one of
the many things that people don't realize is that when
they are, like I said, when they're donating and they're
going into shop, that those proceeds are going back to
the community. Right. So we offer programs from we have
an access program for domestic violence victims. We offer a
Brain Injury program for people that have unfortunately had brain

(04:59):
injuries and we're getting them back to work. We have
a Senior Citizen program where seniors are wanting to get
back into the field of working and we offer them
career counseling and job development and different things like that.
So everything. What people don't realize is that when they
go in to shop, it's for a bigger and better
causes going back into our community, which is what's important.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Yeah, So you know a lot of people didn't know that.
I didn't know that until just a few years ago.
And I you know, shopped a good Will for many years, right,
and I was like, wait, what this is like when
I'm actually making a donation to a worthy cause. It's
in the community, but I get something in return, absolutely,
you know, some really nice items to walk out with

(05:41):
and put on.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Absolutely all.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Right, So the job Fares once again.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
The job Fair is October fifteenth and sixteenth, it will
be like I said, it's a two day job fare.
On the first day will be hiring for our retail
and our contracts division, so that's any position from a
retail associate to a janitory position to a retail management
position will have available. On the fifteenth, will also have

(06:04):
a resource fair, so there'll be people there from our
Excel Center. We actually just started the first term of
our new school year, so we'll be having people there
to talk to people that are interested who don't have
their high school diploma, so they'll be resources there. They'll
be resources for our other programs that people can view
and have someone to talk about. And then the second

(06:25):
day we'll have a job fare for our corporate roles.
Anything from human resources to IT, case management, you name it,
will have.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
It there, okay. And if people want to get more
information about the job, the phone number website that they
can go.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
To absolutely so they can go to our website which
is Margegodwill dot org or that, and they can also
register for the event on event right now.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
You said marriage Goodwill.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Marge Goodwill. Is that R S M E R S
G O O, D W I L L dot org.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Okay, All right well, Miss Chastity Josh, thank you so
much for coming in and hopefully you guys be able
to hire some great people over there good will.
