Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hartfeat Saint Louis with tja akaig Holiday bringing you the
faults of the city.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Hey, look, come with your boy doctor DJ the DJ
Holiday and as we get it too the holidays. I
know for a fact there are going to be some accidents.
They're going to happen. Now, I'm not trying to make
accidents happen. They just happen on their own. So I've
(00:31):
been hearing about this law firm for so many years,
and you probably have two when I say the numbers,
which is one eight hundred four one one pain. And
I've always wanted to, you know, you know, find out
a little bit more about Canna and Pintaluga and on
the phone right now, and I gotta be careful and
(00:55):
what I say because the things that I say can't
be used against me because cow is this leading on
every word.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Then I say, how you doing, man?
Speaker 4 (01:06):
I am doing awesome, Bjay, thank you for having me.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Man, Hey, man, no problem.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
So cal you're one of the attorneys, an assistant.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
What are you over at Cannon and Panaluga?
Speaker 4 (01:18):
So I am the managing attorney over here.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Okay, you're the managing attorney. So how long have you
been you know? Like practicing law and being over at
Cannon Pinaluga.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
So I've been at Canna and Pinsaluga for a little
over fifteen years and actually started here as an intern
and worked my way through the whole system, and they
couldn't get rid of me. And here I am, you know,
fifteen years later and living my dream helping people out.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Now, when you talk about helping people out, I know,
you know, let's let's just talk about the different type
of cases that you guys handle. You know what I mean, like,
do you is it like is it like a car
accident or is it.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
More than that?
Speaker 4 (02:03):
So car accidents are a big percentage of the cases
that we handle, but we also handle slip and falls, premises, liability,
really any case where you've been injured by someone else's negligence.
That's what we do.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Okay, So let's talk about what is somebody else's negligence.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
You know, I just slipped and fall.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
What would make it like if I'm at a store
and I slip and fall, what would make it there
a problem and.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Not just my problem?
Speaker 4 (02:34):
It's a great question. So when you go shopping, when
you're in a public place, when you're at a store.
You have the expectation that you're not going to get hurt. So,
you know, any hazard that is there that they knew
of or should have known of, if you get injured
by that hazard, you potentially have a case.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
So, okay, So I'm gonna bring up a scenario, okay,
because I like scenarios in these cases, because things like
this can happen.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
So I'm going down the owl of a grocery store, right,
and I'm just walking, and I got the buggy in
my hand, and somebody, not the store itself, right, not
the employee of the store, but somebody happened to waste
some type of liquid on the floor and then.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
I slip on it.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I fall, I hit my leg on a buggy, you know,
and you know, and you know, I crack my tailbone,
you know, break my shoulder. All that is going on.
So who's responsible for that? Is it the person that
dropped the liquid or is that the stores?
Speaker 4 (03:51):
That's an excellent question, BJ and that the answer, and
a lot of people don't love this answer, is it depends. Okay,
how long was that liquid on the floor, right? Did
the store know about it or should they have known
about it? And that's going to kind of dictate whether
or not they hold any responsibility.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Okay, so it's been on the floor for fifteen minutes.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Oh, you better believe I'm taking that case. You know.
Any anytime that a liquid's been on the floor for
that long, you know, you got to think do they
have standard procedures that they have been walking through there?
And really it all goes back to you have the
expectation that when you go to a store in your
shopping you're not going to get hurt, and when you do,
(04:34):
you know, unfortunately, there's awful consequences that can follow. And
we're always there to help and try to help mitigate
some of those consequences and get people made whole when
they've been hurt by someone else's you know, wrongdoings or negligence.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Okay, now I got another question. I'm going over to
my friend's house, right and then I walk up their
steps and a board is loose on their s steps
and I fall through the steps and I get hurt,
and I mean, I'm like seriously hurting.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
So is that just on me? Or is that on
my friend that the step was loose?
Speaker 4 (05:18):
Another great question, BJ, So another answer that again, you
might not love is it depends? You know, did your
friend know about some sort of a defect on those steps?
How did that defect get created? And this is where
having a great attorney comes in. You got to get
an expert sometimes, you know, you have to do your research.
(05:39):
You got to do all of the investigating that you
possibly can and get to the bottom of it. And man,
that is what the attorney's over here at Canna and
Pinsaluga excel at.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Okay, all right, so I got another one because you
knew it, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Because these are things that's happening and I'm trying to
get people to understand. One what Canon Pinnaluga does you
know who could be at fault in that type of thing?
Speaker 3 (06:03):
All right?
Speaker 2 (06:04):
So I'm driving down the street right and my light
is green and then somebody is coming from the side
and they run a red light and tear my car up.
(06:24):
I'm in the hospital for weeks on in maybe a
couple of months. So how do you guys handle cases
like that? Do you take it off or is it
that word that you just said before?
Speaker 4 (06:37):
It depends, So you know, you kind of hit all
the check marks there. You got hit by someone who
ran a red light. They're at fault, right, So we
look at liability who is at fault. It's not you,
it's the person who ran the red light. Right. The
next step is where you hurt. You're in the hospital
for weeks, man, You're you're hurt. So the answer is
(06:58):
it's not it depends here. It's we're going to go
and help you. You know, we need to make sure
that there's insurance, and then we want to make sure
that you get yourself better. You know, the goal over
here is to make sure that you're made whole. You know,
number one financially, number two physically, and you're gonna have
to get into doctors to get better most of the time.
So you know, our goal is to make sure that
(07:19):
you are put in the position you were before this
accident happened. And again that is what we excel at
and what we love to do over here is see people,
you know, get get things made right.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Okay, I'm talking with Kyle all over at Kenna and
Pinaluga and just took him through a food scenarios and
here's the big question, Kyle. Now I have been injured
and I need to call an attorney and I pick
up the phone and I've been listening to you know
(07:52):
your advertisement at one eight hundred and four one one pain,
I called the office.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
What happens after that?
Speaker 4 (08:03):
So after that we jump right on it. We determine
whether or not you have a case. If you don't
know doctors and you need to get into a doctor,
we helped you get in and from there you don't
have to worry about anything else. We handle dealing with
the insurance companies. We're here to listen to you and
listen to the event, and we're by your side every
step of the way.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Okay, so I call I get a case.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
You know what I mean? The case is good? How
long does cases normally last? Or is that that other word? Depends?
Speaker 4 (08:41):
And you know it it depends that I can tell you.
In Missouri there's a five year statute of limitations, which
means you either have to settle your case within that
five year period from the date the accident happened, or
you have to file a lawsuit within that five year
period from the date that the accident happened. But you're right,
you know that it depends. Is you know the answer
(09:04):
many times? And that's because we're always going to be
up front with you. You know, we never make any false promises.
We're always keeping it real when we're telling you how
this process works.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Okay, Well, the other thing, man is I just want
to say thank you guys, because yesterday we were able
to give out more than one thousand coats to the
community to kids with our Winter Rise Kids event, and
(09:35):
you guys did something very very special as well. You
guys actually gave a gift card a four hundred and
wanted a four hundred eleven dollars in addition to everything
that you guys did to help us make sure that
the event was successful. Why was it important for Kenna
(09:57):
and Pinaluga to get into you know, this this this
this event and help us give out coast to kids.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Giving back to community is one of my favorite things
to do, getting out to events like this. You know,
we are a national firm. We do this throughout the country.
You know, any way that we can get into the community,
give back, roll our sleeves up. You know, that is
really what we live for. And you know, going back
to what we do in our regular practice, we help people,
(10:29):
you know, getting out and being able to do it
in a different way and really get to know the
people in the community of Saint Louis. You know that
that is really what we live for. Uh, And what
an amazing event it was, Hey, Kyle.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
All I can say, yes it was man, seeing a
lot of uh tears on moms faces and just so
many smiles from the kids. So we definitely appreciate to so.
Cal I know we covered you know a lot. Is
there anything else that you would like to say? Uh
to my listeners here and if information that you want
to give out about one eight hundred four.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
One one pain absolutely and listen. You know, I never
want to hear that someone's gotten into an accident, but
you know, if you are a loved one gets into
a car accident, you have a slip and fall, get
hurt on someone's property, call eight hundred four on one paint.
You know we're open twenty four to seven. There's never
gonna be a point in time where you can't reach us,
and we're here to help, all right.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Cal I just want to say, once again, man, thank
you so much for everything that Canyon and Penaluga is
doing for our community here in Saint Louis, And thank
you guys for being involved in our winter Rise Kids event.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Thank you so much for having us PJ.
