This is deeper in the den withdangerous Day. If you've paid more for
certain flights at a specific time, only to have them delayed or canceled completely
or derailed by your schedule, mostof us have. Usually there's little to
no compensation from the airlines that's changingDepartment and Transportation. At a news conference
yesterday, they announced within six months, airlines would be required to comply with

(00:23):
new rules which require cash refunds forcancelations long delays as an expansion of passenger
rights. Now, you're not goingto get three hundred bucks just because your
flight was delayed for an hour. But here's how it works. Passengers will
be entitled to a refund if theirflight is canceled or significantly changed and they
don't accept alternate transportation or travel credits. This includes airlines changing your itinerary the

day before the trip. Delays thatwould be covered would be more than three
hours for domestic flight more than sixhours for an international flight. This includes
ticket purchases directly from airlines, travelagents, or even third party sites like
Expedi air Travel. To be clear, you get the refund if you don't
take the later, delayed or rescheduledflight so if your flight is canceled,
they will be able to put youon a flight the next morning if you

(01:08):
have to take it. It's acceptingalternate travel, so basically to save travelers
from having to haggle and chase downcompensation. If they bail on a flight
because of the delayer cancelation, theyhave to give you a cash refund,
so no travel vouchers within seven days. The DOT is also requiring airlines to
give cash refunds of luggage your bagsare lost not delivered to you within twelve

(01:30):
hours, and the new rules willalso force airlines to refund you for extra
services specifically paid for that you didn'tget, like Wi Fi, premium seat
selections and in flight entertainments. Tryto make the flight process a little bit
easier, and I'm pretty sure theairlines will pass on the cost to us.
