Speaker 1 (00:00):
This, it's uber in the den with dangerous day, well,
happy Wednesday. Something to get you over the hump to
head to a nice long weekend. Three pm tends to
be when it hits us and we hit that wall.
So somebody asked a productivity expert how to blast through it.
Four ways to get through your hump day afternoon slump.

(00:20):
Know how you're wired. First of all, if you start
anticipating your slump, you can front load your day and
knock out the hardest stuff early. Also, leverage your small winds.
Crossing something off your list creates a sense of accomplishment,
can give you a burst of energy and keep you motivated.
Other ways to beat that slump connect with others, taking
five minutes check in with a coworker. Micro breaks can

(00:42):
help shake the afternoon fog and help you when you
interact with people and change your environment. Move to another room,
step outside for some fresh air. Staying in the same
spot too long can make you sluggish. I like that
change your environment. I'll change my environment from oh, I
don't know, let's say my office to the golf course
in the two would you say you're a wise person?

(01:03):
No minimum age on this eighty year olds can be wise.
So can eight year olds. There's a study that came
out of the University of Waterloo in Canada looked at
the top traits that made a person wise. They pulled
people and dozens of countries around five continents and found
the answers were pretty consistent no matter where they lived.
It boiled down basically to two things. In order to
be wise, you have to have reflective orientation and socio

(01:26):
emotional awareness. So what does that mean. Well, reflective orientation
means you're able to think logically, control your emotions, reflect
on things, and apply knowledge in a useful way. So
it doesn't mean road rage. Okay, that's probably not very wise.
Soco emotional awareness means you care about other people's feelings,
you have good intentions, and you're mindful on how you

(01:48):
interact in social settings. Now that's where my big mouth
gets me in trouble sometimes. Most people in the study
said they don't think they're very wise when they looked
at these results, which, let's be honest, is probably right.
Actually I think I'm pretty wise, Well, at least I'm
a wise. Tune again for another episode of Deeper in
the Den with Dangerous Daved right here,
