Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is deeper in the din. I'm with Dangerous Day.
Google posted the top is it weird questions of twenty
twenty four so far, it's all about stuff. I guess
we're doing solo top is it weird question? Is it
weird to go to the bar alone? And I guess
plenty of people do. Is it weird to talk to yourself?
And I guess that's the one that depends in public
(00:22):
full volume. Maybe is it weird to go to a
concert alone? Go for it, Maybe you'll meet some people
you share some interest with. Is it weird to go
to the movies alone? Well, there's so much to stream.
Might be less common, but still there's a lot of
people who do it. I have a friend that did
it all the time. And is it weird to eat
at a restaurant alone? But there is a stigma because
restaurants kind of set up everything for people to sit together.
(00:44):
If it feels weird, just sit at the bar if
the restaurant has a bar. A lot of people do that.
That way, they don't have to take up a full
table by themselves. I like to get a table of
like twelve and then sit there by myself. Deeper in
the door. So has the American Dream changed? What's your definition?
In an annual study by Investipedia, they found out we
(01:05):
need four point four million dollars in your life to
achieve the American Dream. So if you work from eighteen
to sixty five, the average about one hundred thousand dollars
a year, which is way more than most people make,
but they save it's achievable for couples with two incomes.
It depends upon what your definition of the American dream is, though,
and it isn't the classic definition. It means if you
(01:25):
work hard enough, anybody can make it, buy house and
leave their kids better off. Investipedia's definition is more specific.
Eight things factored in about the American Dream and how
they got to the four point four million dollar conclusion. Retirement.
You need one point six million to retire comfortably, according
to them, owning a home nine hundred and thirty thousand
dollars over the course of your life, raising two kids
(01:47):
eight hundred and thirty two thousand, owning new cars eight
hundred and eleven thousand that's new annual vacations one hundred
and seventy nine thousand, big wedding forty four thousand, pets,
thirty seven thousand, and paying your own funeral. I guess
that's the thing part of the American dream. Eighty five
hundred dollars. Now, it sounds excessive, but their study last
year was more modest. If you live more comfortably, that
(02:09):
number was three point four million dollars. They said this
year they had to make the adjustments because of inflation. Yeah.
