Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please, it's deeper in the din with dangerous day. Well,
daylight saving time ended yesterday, and if you're feeling it
right now, you're not alone. Sixty nine percent of Americans
say changing the clocks messes with our mood, energy levels,
and our ability to focus. The older you are, the
more likely you are to agree. Eighty three percent of
boomers feeling it, compared to fifty four percent of gen zers.

(00:23):
Fifty seven percent of parents say shifting a clock has
an impact on their children's sleep patterns as well. So
your kid might feel a little more off today than normal.
So and you had that on top of the fact
that they were up late last week, they gorged on
candy all weekend. Why don't we just get rid of
daylight saving time? Why don't we just stop it? Just
end it? Already every year some politician thrusts out his

(00:44):
chest and says, Yep, we're going to end this, We're
going to stop doing it. Where the majority of people
agree for some reason, it's a typical government entity. Nothing
happens deeper in the two. Let me ask you a question.
If there's an alien invasion in America, we're probably all doomed.
Us Hollywood riders are right, and it would be more
or something like alf for Roger from American Dad or et.

(01:05):
But you know, some of us would be more screwed
than others. There's a website just conducted a study to
determine what state citizens would be better off with an
alien invasion. They took into account things like the number
of UFO sidings, landscape and terrain, defense signs, and medical resources,
plus food and beverage manufacturing. In the end, Virginia has

(01:26):
the best alien survival score. Alabama was second, followed by Minnesota,
then Massachusetts, New York, Florida, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Alaska, and Georgia.
The state with the lowest score Nevada. Yeah, the home
to area fifty one. You're the lowest score. You think
you would be prepared. I was followed by Idaho, Arizona, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Oklahoma,

(01:47):
New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Wyoming. North Dakota, by the way,
was not ranked either direction for that because they did
not take an account of I guess what we had.
The infrastructure we had here, we have the air force,
we have missiles. There's something we could do. Tune in
again for another episode of deeper in the den with

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
