Speaker 1 (00:02):
From the theme park Capital of the World.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Orlando, Florida.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is the Theme Park Podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Wait podcast, is this.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
On the radio? Why does everything gotta be so messy.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
On this station? Anyway?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Here's your hosts, Dickerman, Jimmy D and Scott Harris.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Hey there, and welcome to the Theme Park Podcast. Dickerman
here there is Jimmy D. I would prefer to talk
about Crypto the super Dog and Scott Harris.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
What's going on? Happy spooky season? Summer Ween is here.
It's upon us.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Mm hmmm, yes, everybody.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah, Summer Ween.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
I don't know what that is.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
That's how you celebrate Halloween in the summer. Oh okay,
I mean we've got yeah, we've got I know what
you did last summer coming out this week, We've got
We've got Together coming out next week. Two weeks after that,
we'll have weapons coming out.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
One's Fantastic four. Well it falls in there somewhere.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
I was talking about horror movies.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Oh, I know, I'm just yeah, I know, I just
wondered because you just mentioned, like, you know, the significant movies.
I'm guessing it's the week after this week.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
It is next week that Fantastic four Colon First Steps
comes out. Yes, you have to clarify which which one
we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Because there's other Fantastic Four movies coming out.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Well, No, I just mean, like, you could go see
the Roger Corman one that doesn't exist. You can see
the Jessica Alba Leo Griffold one. Uh, you could watch
your favorite.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Shoe Storm will be measured up to Jessica Alba for
all time. H I mean I like Jessica Alba. I
don't know if she was a great sue Storm. Yeah.
Did you see the movies? Yes, yes, I did.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I've seen every Fantastic Four movie, including the Roger Corman one.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah, and we're into it and we can't forget about
your favorite, the Kate marl one.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
That was good for half the movie. I will it's
a good movie halfway through. I will agree with you
on that it completely fell apart at the end. Yes,
I don't even know how it fell apart so badly,
but it was. It was good until you know, halfway through. Yes, yeah,
because whatever they did with Doctor Doom was not good,

(02:18):
an abomination.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
I paid extra to see that in like a premium format.
I was not happy about that decision. That I made.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna wait and see I'm fantastic four Hey,
But to take this in a theme park angle super quickly,
I don't want to. I don't wanna try it on
this for too long. But so Superman A lot of
people like it, right, so it's out there, it's making
a lot of money. What if this is the turning
point for d C and they flip the tables on
Marvel and they become the big thing. And we've had
this conversation, you know, in years gone by, we talked about,

(02:49):
oh maybe Disney will take the rights for Marvel, Universal
will give them up if the if we flipped the script,
I mean, d C Land could be a possibility if
they can really get the whole thing going again.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Well, the thing is if in that scenario happening, you
look at six Flags and six Flags becomes that much
more valuable because they already have the rights to it.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
I know, but it's just rides. They're not theming it.
They just it's a Superman ride. But it's not like
you go into Harry Potter or you know roller coaster.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yeah no, no, no, like six Flags in u Up
in New Jersey. They actually have like dedicated areas where
they actually have rides where it's like you're going, they
have their own equivalent to like a buzz Lightyear shoot
them up video game ride like they have stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Yeah, but you know it's it's not a Universal or
Disney No with a land.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
But it's what you're talking about is six Flags Great Adventure.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
So let's see, I've actually been there.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
But the thing is, if it becomes valuable, then they
would figure it out. Then they would probably put more
money into the theming of their stuff.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeaes, six Flags is never gonna take off. They're never
They're always gonna be the Kmart of theme parks. They're
never gonna be Disney or Universal. Let's just face it.
No matter how much money they dump into it, it's
still gonna be just six Flags.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Yeah. The thing is, I don't know, because I still
don't believe that Disney's ever gonna give up Marvel's ever
gonna Universe, is ever gonna give up Marvel to Disney.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Yeah, they're gonna have to. On a long enough timeline,
they will have to.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Why you don't want to give your competition more ammunition?

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, but allegedly they don't look at each other as competition.
H A and B.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Just the way the world is. Eventually, those rides are
just gonna go away.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
I mean they've put a lot of money into redoing them.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I'm not saying they haven't, and I'm not saying it's
gonna be anytime soon. I said, on a long enough timeline,
they will end up giving up a Yeah, and six
Flags Great Adventure has a flash roller coaster, and I
have to say, the theming on it, I mean, it's
just a roller coaster, but the theming on it is
pretty good. Like it looks like like the flash costumes
on the head of the car. You know, it's got

(05:13):
a yellow track with red support beams. So you just me,
you're just begging for issues.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
When you got a flash roller coaster though, you guys
remember the old issues with Splash Mountain back in the day.
Now you got a flash roller coaster. No, yeah, I don't.
I don't think you're gonna have that same problem, Okay,
I feel like it would be a challenge to people.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
No restraints exist.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
They do on some roller coasters, yeah, some they just
sit in your lap. Yeah, And I don't feel like
that's enough either. And the thing.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
And the thing is, I think there's now protocols in place.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Oh yeah, they did that that those came into place
with Splash Mountain in the early nineties. They had to
figure that one pretty quickly.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
That's why I think. I think those days are.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
That one just rhymed with flash. Hey, so the Simpsons
will be another issue that will come up at some
point too. No, I mean that whole anim that's a
big area Universal now owned by Disney.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Everyone has talked about that, and it's just like there's
been so many rumors of like Pokemon and all sorts
of SpongeBob and whatnots. But the thing is like, whenever
I walk through that area, it's always packed.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
That's a great area. Well, they did a great job
of that area. They made it better in.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
That franchise is like generational, Like didn't you say that?
Like your daughter was like watching.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, I wanted to with my dad and she wants
to with me. Mm yeah, I mean it is multi generational.
I imagine there's three generations that have watched it together.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
If if only three, like because the show's going on
like thirty five years of existence.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, they just keep going so yep, chugging along.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Yeah, so it's just like it's you know, it makes money,
it's got a lot of resource like, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
All right, Well, that's a lot of speculation. We do
actually have some news from Universal and it does involve
your favorite thing, Scott, which is spooky season. We have
some Halloween hornites, uh, scared announcements.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Scare zones for Halloween Horrorites thirty four okay, never go alone.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
So they still haven't said anything about this rumored WWE house.
No that everybody's been speculating.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
No, the last house that was announced was the Terrifier House, which,
by the way, have you watched all three Terrifiers yet
and all hallows e of the prequel to Terrifier one?

Speaker 2 (07:42):
No, I am not. I might watch two, but I
told you I tried. One looked like it was shot
on a handheld VHS camera that held the VHS full
sized tapes back in the day, and I just couldn't
get into it.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
You should, you should give it another tribe. So the
first scaresone we have is the cat Lady of Crooked Land. Okay,
all right, travel down a spooky, winding path to a
mysterious home where trick or treaters are transformed into feral felions.
Be careful or you'll be next.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
You know how they always put the smells and the
smells in the in the Oh god, oh no, this
is concerns. Hey, you guys remember the year it was
a barn and it smelled like cow cow manure. No, yeah,
I don't think they're gonna make a cat pee in
the Yeah, hey, I remember the manure smell.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
For some reason, Scott, when you started reading the name
of this scare zone, I just pictured the crazy old
lady from the Simpsons throwing rows cats at people. I
was like, they're gonna be throwing cats at people in
the Simpsons land.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Hey, that's a good scare zone, for being honest, somebody
throwing cats, like a stuffed cats and people. That'd be awesome.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, let's not use real cats, stuffcats. That's fun.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Yeah, yeah, just the crazy cat lady throwing snowball to
stuffed animals at people.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Yeah, if you catch you keep it.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Well what if it were wasn't plushies but like taxidermed.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Oh no, no, no, they're not good. That's a little far.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
All right. Then we have.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
We have masks potential though. This is this is a
unique idea for a scare zone.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Absolutely all right, Masquerade Dance with Death. You're invited into
a masquerade ball where bloodthirsty vampires lurk behind ornate disguises.
When their masks fall, you'll become their prey.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
I can envision this one. I can envision this one
a bunch of you know, good looking girls and guys
playing vampires jumping out to scare you.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
They do have iteration of this like usually like every year.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Now, Scott, do you know where in the parks the
scare zones are? This is?

Speaker 1 (10:02):
This is speculated to be in the Hollywood portion of
the park.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Okay, because I really want to know what's in Central Park.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
That is where the cat Lady is That is being
expected usually along that corridor that you're familiar with, the
one where I hit. We don't have to tell the story.
But I wasn't gonna.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Say that and I had to go take a drug test.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
I was gonna say because every now and then they
would have a giant gator in that area and.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
I wasn't allowed to drive a golf cart for a week. Yeah,
So just a little bank story on that. If you
hit anything while working at Universal, you immediately have to
take a drug test. So like, even if you're driving
a giant like high reach that has huge potential for
hitting things, I guarantee you I would hit literally everything
I passed by, you immediately have to go for drug
tests to make sure you weren't inebraated when driving the vehicle.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Yeah, one member of the show would not be employed
after his first day.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
I would. I would somehow take down like whatever. The
mom most important part of that park is the first.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
The trellis that they have that, says Horrnites.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
The first ever shift at Universal as an employee, they
had me driving a high reach by myself through Universal
Studios Park.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
That seems like a questionable idea. Yeah, was dying.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
It was the worst like thirty minute drive I've ever
had to take my life. I know parks where it
got really tight because you can't touch anything, and like
everything is so ornate. And then there's always like there
are things that like you have to drive around in
a high reach that most people don't even think about
when they're at the park. But there's so many decorations
and like road signs that are like fake and like

(11:45):
like all kinds of like set dressing. You just have
to pay attention to not hit anything. If that was me,
I would just say, just give me the drug test.
Now there's no point in even doing the drive.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Just give me the drug test.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
All right. Then we have the origins of horror.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Okay, all right, Enter a.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Decaying conservatory of twisted vines where artists carved tributes to
Halloween horror Nights thirty four. You'll encounter monstrous crows, gargoyles,
and more. This is believed to be at the front
of the park.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
I love gargoyles. Oh so like right in front of
between Minions and.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
The other minions. Yeah, minions and more minions over by
where the uh Wicked store is now, don't they.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Usually do one? Like on that bridge that leads between
the area where the Horror makeup show is and then like.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Et, that's not a bridge, that's a walkway a bridge.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
It's a walkway but feels and that's there's a bridge
over in front of Simpsons. Yeah, I know that one. Yeah,
that's that's a real bridge.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
And that bridge is under construction right now. That bridge
actually doesn't exist. Oh, they're replacing.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Swim to get to the other side of you.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
No, you just know you just go around by minim black.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Might rather swim, now you wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Uh so their.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Teennis shot immediately afterwards.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
And then the last one is mutation Toxic twenties. In
a nineteen twenties neighborhood, a buzzcon truck with radioactive cargo
crashes into a mobster getaway car, sending the city into
toxic pandemonium. This is believed to be a riff on

(13:32):
past houses where they've had like bugs invade a town
called Carrie. I believe, Jimmy, we did a house. Did
that house last year?

Speaker 2 (13:45):
I don't remember that?

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Oh no, that was Slaughter Cinema. It was a different house.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Sorry, okay that Slaughter Cinema? Yes? And is this going
to be over in front of the Mummy?

Speaker 1 (13:54):
This is believed to be in New York, so yes, York.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Okay, when you said toxic twenties. If I could go
either way, it could be like, you know a bunch
of like, what's what's the twenty generation? What's that now?

Speaker 1 (14:09):
The roar in twenties?

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Alpha? No jen alpha is it?

Speaker 1 (14:12):
No?

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I don't know what those people know, those people in
their twenties they're the toxic versions of those or the
nineteen twenties.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
I mean us when I saw toxic Imutations. It goes
back to a thing we were talking about before we
started the show. Oh, we're getting at toxic Avender Scarzone.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
I think that's kind of what I was thinking too.
It might be possible when they do the new one.
I mean, Peter Dinklie is going to be in it.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Do you know the problem that has happened with that movie?
That movie was shot and completed in twenty twenty three.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
With Dinglish. Yes, what are they waiting for? This is trauma?
Just put it out.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Nobody wanted to release it. Oh yeah, that's why it's
now getting a release. But it just it's taken a
lot of time for that to happen.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
Hey, maybe will be pleasantly surprised. It's got to be
better than the first one.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Oh. Absolutely, Like the trailer is like amazing, this one happened.
This movie has Petered English, Kevin Bacon and Elijah Wood
in it.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Okay, I have not seen the trailer. Force I'm gonna
look at it after the show. Oh you should talk
to the Avenger we're talking about.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
There's a bunch of there and there. Uh, if there's
a Red Band trailer, of course.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Okay, I will check out. Alls I've been watching is
King of the Hill trailers, So I've missed that one.
There's all see the new tron ares that dropped? Did
you not?

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Did you watch the new Mortal Kombat two one that
just dropped?

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Same? Did not?

Speaker 1 (15:44):
So all of those got announced, all those scare zones
got announced. But this actually leads me to a question
because speaking of Trailerses James, you have a question.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Oh, no, stretching.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Oh, another trailer dropped yesterday Stranger Things season five.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
So there is always speculation there could be a Stranger
Things house.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Well, well, here's the thing. Stranger Things season five. The
first block of episodes comes out Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Oh okay, we're not gonna after maybe next year.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Well, my question is will we ever get another Stranger
Things house?

Speaker 2 (16:29):
It depends upon the success of this final season.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
And that's what I Meanlake. It has been three years
in season four this show. This is the fifth season.
It's taken nine years to get five seasons of this show.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Yeah, I will say this about Halloween Hornet's They're not
above doing a house before something comes out as a
promotional piece too.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
But the thing is the last house that they did
tied into the previous season, so they're not going to
go backwards and they're not going to do anything that's
going to spoil this season, correct sense, which might not
even be finished filming gun.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Why does it take nine years? What happened?

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Like?

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Iday shot the first one, no problem, and all of
a sudden, oh covid is you think that was it?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Well, okay, part of it five years out of it though,
here's the thing. Here's the thing, because I went back
and looked at this because I got like weirdly annoyed.
X Files did twenty something episode seasons for ten street years.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Yeah, with two big stars in it, two big Hollywood stars.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Game of Thrones did eight seasons in eight I might
have been like eight and a half years. Ten episode seasons.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
That was a great time to be alive. That was
a great time to be alive.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Walking Dead did over one hundred episodes in eleven years.
In the last two seasons, that show had twenty two
and twenty three episodes.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
Yeah, but everybody gave up on it that point.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
I don't care it still did it.

Speaker 3 (17:59):
You're talking got buddy, you're talking about shows that started
in network television, in the classic sense of network television
before streaming really.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Was a thing.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Game of Walking Dead was not Walking Dead was on
on t was on cable that is. But it's different
than network. We're not talking about, you know, like X Files.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
But still it's still was on a cable network that
was still operated like a cable network where it's like
HBO Max. Now, just it's it's a different time.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
New year, new season. It's don't complicate, it's not. It's
not Rocket Sciences.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
One season a year. I agree.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Yeah, take your time and make it good. Don't think
you should because you got to get it in. And
it's like we end up with Season of the Witches.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Have a completed story. When you're doing a show.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Yeah, have a beginning, middle, and an end and then
you have no problem.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
But okay, you guys are looking at it like in
a very high you know, you're looking at it like
a ten thousand yard view. Wherever the hell that expression is.
There's so much nuance to it because you don't know
if you're gonna get picked up. You don't know how
to like you can wrap up a season. But also
maybe keep it going. And then there are executives that

(19:18):
like night Court was supposed to wrap up after like
the second or last season, and they wrapped up all
their stories and then they're like, nope, you guys are
coming back for another season, and they had to like
undo all this like nice wrapping they hit put on
the whole series.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
That's why you gotta cut your deal in the beginning,
say here's the deal. I'm gonna give you five seasons.
We've got a full story arc for each season. We're
gonna wrap it up in season five. Then we're done.
Five years, five seasons.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Let's go all right, now that you solved Hollywood's problems,
how about you get healthcare next?

Speaker 2 (19:48):
I will let me let me add it.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
No, I think what's happening with Stranger Things is is
they have to take so much time to deage all
of the kids now because they're all like forty years old.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Yeah, eleven's like forty four. So it just married to
John bon Jovi's kid.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
That is that is correct, she is technically so she
was like.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
A tiny little kid.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
They all were. They all were you guys doing over there?

Speaker 2 (20:16):
What I mean, what are you wasting time on?

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Nine years, nine years.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah. Look, you shoot the show when it comes out,
while it's running, then you shoot your next season. By
the time you're done with post production, you're ready for
your next season to go on air.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Yes, exactly how it works, all right. Back to schedule,
back to theme parks. Roaming droids have arrived at Galaxy's Edge.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Now, I gotta imagine these guys are on their own,
but they have to have like handlers, so we don't
just scoop one up and take it home.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Correct. These are the beady Droids, the little guys from
the Fallen Order games, and they're just they're walking around.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
If I ask, it will give me like the life Well.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
I do not believe it'll give you a life stem.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
I'm gonna need it because you didn't.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
Because you didn't collect any for him.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
I'm gonna need like six life stems right in my spine.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
But there was a very funny video that was circulating
on social media because it started to rain and they
had to put little bags over them.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Protect the droids.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
But this is for a limited time that they will
be at Galaxy's Edge.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
That's cool, limited time, yes, No, it's like, what do
they do like they take the Caral costume from from
up and they have it out and then they just
throw it in the closet. They take these droids, they'll
put them out for a while. I just put them
in the closet. We'll get them out maybe in six
years if they still work.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Do you remember when Galaxy's Edge opened and they had
the X Wing fighters that flew over galaxies Egg the
one day, the one day for like the media preview. Yes,
those are not just sitting in the shelf. One of
them at least is in like the Air and Space Museum,
I think in DC.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Yeah, and the others in Jimmy's backyard.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
I wish. Can you imagine, like you spend all that
money to use it just for one day. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
No, that stuff like that happens all the time for

how to make it be kind of a reoccurring thing
over the park.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Yeah, keep it reoccurring. I like to see it keep happening.
I want them. I want the X Wing Fighters to
continue to fly over Hollywood Studios. Let's make that happen.

Speaker 3 (22:48):

all the Executives parking lot.

Speaker 1 (22:52):

remember when we went to the thing and we were
like following or no, you were the one that was
like driving on your own at the Halloween drive through
thing during COVID.

Speaker 1 (23:29):

Speaker 2 (23:31):

Speaker 1 (23:34):

Speaker 2 (23:36):
I made a slightly wrong turn. They didn't have great
sign its and it was very dark. Okay, the exact
path did not get lost once.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
You just follow the car in front of you. You
followed the tracks.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Yeah, I don't know about that.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yes, you do when you drive on a road, do
not follow the car in front of you.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
He can, he can mock my driving all he wants.
He still takes uh, he still takes a ride in
the Dickermobiles. You know.
