Speaker 2 (00:11):
Is this a radio?

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Why does everything gotta be so messy on this station?

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Anyway?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Here's your host, Dickerman, Jimmy D and Scott Harris conichi.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Wa and welcome to the Theme Park Podcast Dickerman. Here
there is Jimmy D. Have you got tho? And Scott
Harris you are hello Hi. So if you guys can
tell me real quick before we begin this show, what
what is konichi wa? And what has ever got? You

(00:42):
actually know? Is? Thank you? Okay? Okay, yes, okay, good good.
We begin the show in Japanese today because Scott Harris,
much like young Jimmy D, will be traversing across the
globe to Japan in the coming days to experience their

(01:05):
world of theme parks, among other things.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
You know, it's so funny. People like what are you doing?
And I'm like, well, go to a bunch of theme parks.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
I mean, you should talk to your tax guy and
see if this is like you know, you can write
the whole thing off you absolutely right.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
It's like like sixteen eighteen. However, pretty hours to go
to things. We have here.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
It's not true.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
I mean it kind of is.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Their. Your versions are unique. Jimmy will tell you Jimmy
went to Disney c.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
He knows, yes, nowhere else in the Disney family.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
This is true. So let's talk a little bit about
your trip. Let's talk about the theme parks you're going
to see. Let's talk about the other things you're gonna see.
Because what he's excited, I know, and this is just
things we need to know about what we have available
to us in this world.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
What do we want to say? Okay, do you want
to start with like the theme parks, like the like
the big thing, like the things that we don't have,
Like what do.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
You think I think we should? I think we should
lead out with the theme parks because this is a
theme parks show, so we really do want we don't
want to miss out in any of the details of
the parks you'll be visiting when you when you make this.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Okay, the first of the parks that I'm going to
is I'm going to Tokyo Disney.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Diney, what day is this on your trip?

Speaker 2 (02:26):
This is day three and four?

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Day three and four. Okay, And Jimmy, you did not
go to Tokyo Disney.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Right, well, Tokyo see is like Tokyo Disney involves like
their Magic Kingdom and Disney cekay okay.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
And I think we talked about this on the show.
I I bought a vacation package for this.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Make it, make it worth it? What is your package?
What does your package include?

Speaker 2 (02:58):
So it includes hotel? So I'm one night at what
at a hotel? The cheapest one, the Toy Story Resort.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Nice? Nice, I went.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
But I get so it's so it's one night and
then tickets to Tokyo Disney and then Tokyo Disney. See great,
that's great. So I will be doing Tokyo Disney, staying
the night at the Toy Story Hotel, and then doing
Disney c the next day.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
And then with the package that I got, I had
a choice to make of the expresses that I uh
for rides and the biggest thing, mainly for one member
of the show, is what snack that I wanted?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Okay, all right, so you got to choose both those things.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
So you have a choice to make you get unlimited
drinks which are like sodas and whatnots M. But then
you have to decide do you want popcorn or do
you want churros?

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Curus?

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Now, hold on, hold on, Dickerman, The popcorn at Japan,
at these theme parks is no joke. Like there are
all those crazy flavors like roast beef and butter oyster,
and like all the nut butters, butter scallop and.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
So the so the popcorn flavors. So the thing is,
I chose popcorn, okay, because you can get sweet and savory, okay,
and kind of flavors, and kind of with churros, it's
all sweet.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
It is.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Caramel, soy sauce and butter, curry, salt and milk, chocolate, okay,
all right, and then seasonal flavors macha white, chocolate, berry, cheesecake, honey,
black pepper, strawberry, cheddar cheese, salty, ca haramel.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
I think you made the right choice. I got it.
I was wrong. You're right. That's a lot of good flavors.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
And here's like, let me just say, though, if you
wanted to go churro mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Oh wait a second, I know why you went popcorn.
What you want a popcorn bucket?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
It's a thing that I will have. It's kind of
a thing it's like I will happen. Now. It's cool
that I will have one. That's cool, it's you know, awesome. Uh.
But the churro flavors cinnamon, potato, sweet, soy, sugar, crimbouley, chy, spiced, okay,

(05:39):
and then the seasonal flavors apple, caramel, chocolate, and milk tea,
crembreulet Okay.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
I mean all interesting sounding flavors. I wouldn't like all
of them, just like it wouldn't like all of the popcorns.
But there's definitely enough variety there to keep everybody happy exactly.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
And it's just like, boom, there's my food right there.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, you just gonna eat popcorn the whole trip.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
And then part of the package is you can kind
of pick restaurants. You'll then have to pay, you know,
at the restaurants. And you know, I talked to enough people,
I did enough research. So the morning of my second
day there, the day that I'm going to Tokyo Disney
c is, I will be eating at the Toy Story.

(06:24):
Lots of breakfast buffet.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Nice. Nice. I feel like you can't go wrong with
the breakfast buffet, but I am curious what they will
offer a Japanese breakfast buffet.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
It's kind of what you'd expect.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Okay, like traditional eggs, hash browns, potato potato barrels, things
like that.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yes, it's the lots of garden cafe. Okay, you pull
up a you.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Don't have anything against pork there, right, they're fine with pork, right.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Oh, yeah, of course, breakfast Bay it's thirty six hundred
yen okay, uh, smoked salmon, avocado, salad, ham in beat,
egg beat eggs, salad, pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, rice pasta.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Mickey shape waffles, danishes.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
I'm sure they do. I don't see that on the menu,
but I'm sure they seem like a staple, like you
almost have to offer me exactly.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yeah, yes, Scott, I'm looking at your popcorn bucket options,
and you got a hard choice to make.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
My friend.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
Well, the funny thing is, as I was talking to
somebody that did this, you get paper, do you? When
you show up to check in? You get a binder
with all of your all of your little cupons.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
That's so cool, that's nice. I like that. Let's talk
about what you're gonna ride there, because first day is
like le Jimy said, their Magic Kingdom. It is Tokyo Disney.
So what do we what are the what are the
fast passes? What are the must rides at this park?

Speaker 2 (08:05):
So, I mean James can speak more to this than
me because he went. But they have stuff there. I
mean my biggest priority, and I think this was Jimmy's
as well, is the things that we don't have here.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Correct, right, so you got to get on the things
we don't have, the experiences that you cannot have here,
so you can only have there. And even once they
have here, I would imagine they're still different there.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Well yeah, because like when you go on Indiana Jones,
he's speaking in Japanese.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
H that's fun. I like that a lot. I want
to see Harrison Ford speak Japanese.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
But it's like, you know, it is like their haunted
mansion is different than what we have here. Like it's
all of this experience is in a different lens that
I would love that. I'm going, I'm fortunate enough to
be able to to go. Do they have a Bamax ride?

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Like?

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Uh, they have a Monster's Ink rde Do I know
we're gonna get that here? It's a different ride, but like,
I want to experience star Toars in a different language.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Yeah, do you have a ride that you're gonna go
to first? Like when you get to the parking you
be like, I'm gonna b line for this.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
I mean may like you know, Star Tours, I gotta
I gotta pull the list here. Uh teak the tiki room?
Oh wait no, hang on? Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, I
was wrong. I was wrong about that Tom Sawyer's Island Rafts.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
No, they can't. They can't have that there, that was ours.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Hang on, hang on, hang on. Sorry. Swiss Family Robin's
Swiss Family Treehouse.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Yeah, is that thing gone too? Has that gone as well? No?

Speaker 2 (09:43):
That's still Oh hey they're enchanted.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Room has stitch.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Yes, Oh that's nice. That's an upgrade. And their small
world has groot.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Really seasonal interesting. Yeah, it's interesting group being added to
a small world. What what what land does mister live in?
When you're going through the countries? Which country is grouped from?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
I mean really, the thing that I should do in
the middle of the day because, as recommended by one
member of the show, is Mickey's PhilharMagic.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
So you can nap.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
It's a good place to that do they actually have
a film.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Right, they do, That's why I said it, Well.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
As well do it when in Japan? I mean you
get are you gonna try and get everything in like
each day at the park if you can physically a lot?
There are a lot of attractions.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
My main goal is to get things that we don't have, Okay, that's.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
Or things that are drastically different, like exactly, Soarin is
the exact same like experience, but it is completely differently
themed like the intro and everything, and it's actually really
really well done.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
M exactly that that's that's the biggest thing.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Okay, So this is Tokyo digitally and the next day
disney C yep, different rides, different experiences, right.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yes, So Disney C has like the jeweles Vern Journey,
the Senate of the Earth, twenty thousand leagues under the Sea.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
I want to do that one. That one sounds good.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Uh, you know, all of those kind of things. But
their biggest new thing is the Fantasy Springs, which is
you know Frozen Tangled.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Yeah, the Tangled Lantern ride is amazing that you that
you should definitely put on your list. I know your girl, Yeah, he.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Love Sangled it's one of the things that I.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Selected for.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Yes, yeah, yeah, that's smart Tangled.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Why not exactly because.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
With the Tokyo or you know, Disney Japan, they have
options for you can buy fast passes, but there's also
the free stash.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
Neither of those had the Tangled ride.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Correct.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
That was never an option for us the entire day,
so our only option was to wait.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
And the thing is, they have a snuggling duck snugly
duckling restaurant.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Oh that sounds nice. That just sounds like a pleasant
place to go. I would I would go there.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
I thought about pooking it when I was poking my
And they also have a royal banquet of arundel.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Oh, gotta do that one. That's a good one too.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
I thought, I thought about it. I thought about it.
But then when I did, and then I saw how
much money that was gonna cost as part of my package.
M h.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
That was like the time I almost got the castle,
like the dinner at the Castle. Then I looked at
how much it was, I'm like, oh, no, I'm good.
I'm happy that reservations are available, but I'm happy for
those people that will be there. Yes, someone else can
enjoy that experience because I will just be thinking about
the money the whole time.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
The funny thing about this is, so I'm like doing
one night at the Toy Story hotel and then I'm like, oh, well,
I'm gonna need somewhere to go, Like after i leave
Disney the hotel. That hotel wasn't a bit for another night.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
So where are we going?

Speaker 2 (13:04):
I'm going to a Hilton, that's rightext Story.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Hey, Hilton's a nice spot.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
No, I'm not, I'm not. I'm not denigrating the Nave.
It's just funny that it's like, at some point I
feel like I'll leave Disney C, move my luggage over
to this new hotel. That way, when I've done for
the nights, I just walk right into a hotel because
Jimmy has told me that checking into a hotel is
kind of a lengthy process.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Oh it's true, it's true. Yeah, you're right, you're right. Yeah.
Because you're you're at you're at Disney C. You gotta
take your stuff with you can't leave it there all day.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Scott, make sure you have your passport ready. I like everything,
they want your passport.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
So that's the Disney portion where do we go from
the So we get done with Disney, We're moving on.
What's our next theme park?

Speaker 2 (13:51):
So our next theme park is?

Speaker 1 (13:54):
I like it. I just assume you're doing like a
nineteen theme parks while you're there.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
I am doing multiple parks while I am there, because
it's the next theme park is Nijen Nomori.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Oh, I don't know anything.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
This is this is God's the Godzilla theme park, Godzilla
interception operation.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Are you going to do this blend into his mouth?

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Yes, yes, Scott.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
Make sure you have a GoPro or something to strap
your phone to your chest because I must have that video.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Anyone that has asked this is the This is the
impetus of the entire trip.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
This is what this is what pushed you.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yes, this was I knew about this experience for like
a decade now, and then I knew about it. Two
of my very good friends went to Japan and sold
me on gooing, and this was the first thing that
I booked after booking the the flight.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
How many thousands of yen does it cost you to
fly into Godzilla's mouth to your immediate death? Hang on,
you don't really have to know. You can give me
a you can give me a rain let me generally.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Well, because I want to get this right, because I didn't.
I did the Godzilla Interception Operation gold ticket, okay, all right,
which is forty eight hundred yen.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
I have no idea what that means.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Ummmm. And this includes the the zip line, the Godzilla Museum,
Godzilla cell shooting. There's a mystery solving game. Okay, you
said forty eight hundred, forty eight hundred yen.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Yeah, it's thirty bucks.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Wow, that's a great deal. I'm gonna go to Japan.
I'll save so much money.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
The thing about this is it's outside of Osaka, so.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
You have to get there.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Is it a challenge to get there to Osaka? No? Okay,
you get a bullet train to get to Osaka. Yes,
it's getting to this island.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Okay, all right, that I have looked.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
It's two trains in a bus.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
So but you figured it out, You've got you've got
it plan.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Well, I've I've Google mapped it.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
I And when you buy, when you buy tickets, you
kind of had to buy a time. You have to
specify a reservation time. Look, I'm gonna pad myself a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
You gotta you gotta give yourself that stress time, like,
so you're not freaking.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Out, well, Scott, one thing I will tell you that
it is going to help everything. The trains are always
on time.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
It's always the thing is it's the train, the trains.
I'm not worried about. It's you, it's it's bush.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
The buses were very close to being honest exactly.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
And by this point in my trip I will hopefully
be versed knock on wood in public transport.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Yeah, you're gonna be fine.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Did I think about renting a car?

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yes, changed your mind on that, didn't didn't want to
do it.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
And then multiple people go, yeah, you can probably drive
on the roads. Do you know what any of their
street signs mean?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
No, dude, are there lights? A different situation too there there.
I could not figure out their street lights.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
I could not like and I was like, thank god,
like because I did drive on their roads, and but
in a you know, in a go cart. Thank god
we had a guide because we pulled up to a
light and I was like, Okay, it's red and green.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
What what is going on here? Like a rabbit? What
is the rabbit doing?

Speaker 2 (17:43):
By the way, did I also, did I also book
a go kart trip for my second night there?

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Yes, yes, which company did you go with?

Speaker 2 (17:53):
I knew you're going to ask that, Mario cut I
booked it through kluk uh uh Chabboya Go Karting Experience
by Accuba Cart Shabuyah.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
That one.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
That one, that's the one that I did. That's the
on it goes by. Yeah, it's a The reason why
I booked this one a was available, uh into it
was a five minute walk from the hotel Gracerie that
I'm bill will be staying in.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Well, there you go. You're going into the Godzilla theme
park to do all the Godzilla things. When are you
staying at the Godzilla Hotel?

Speaker 2 (18:28):
First two nights?

Speaker 1 (18:29):
First two nights at the Godzilla Hotel? Do you have
of Godzilla's head?

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Nice. Japan is just so so out.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
There and dude, and they give you like goodies to
take home with your like you get like all kinds
of like fun stuff in the hotel.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
It's awesome. You know the other great thing for him,
Jimmy is the shirts will actually fit him. The shirts
will fit him as where they didn't fit us.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
Yeah, yeah, I would definitely recommend checking your sizes.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Ye, Jimmy Bie's an extra large. This doesn't fit me. Nope,
doesn't fit me either. Who's this gonna fit? Not us?

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Okay? Last theme park? Okay, Universal Studio Japan in Osaka.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
In Osaka. This is very interesting. I believe my friend
who I never have on the show, Victor, worked on
this on this particular.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
Park, and I booked Express.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Smart Smart Move.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
But it's not a blanket Express. You have to specify
really what things that you want?

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Okay? What have we specified for Universal Japan?

Speaker 2 (19:40):
So I have a four o'clock entry point into Supernintendo World.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Good God, do that?

Speaker 2 (19:49):
And then I have Mario Kart Koopa's Challenge okay? Uh?
Then I have the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and
the Forbidden Journey.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
What was there Forbidden Journey different than our Forbidden Journey?

Speaker 2 (20:04):
No, I mean it'll be in a different language.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Yeah, I mean I want to see Hermione speaking Japanese.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
And then I have what is a choice and let
me let you guys decide or what you think my choice?
What I chose? Okay, or will choose? Then there's the
choice of Jaws.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Oh, I know, I'm looking at this right now, the
fiftieth anniversary of the movie released.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Or Jurassic Park the ride. What do you think I
will be doing.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Jaws gots because we don't have anything exactly. You got
to do it, and like you could still get on
Jurassic Park. You can wait in line right.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Well, it's also wait, here's the thing, here's the thing
that's a water ride.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Oh yeah, is it gonna be cold in the winter?
It's winter there, Okay, I don't know seasons, you know.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Uh looking, uh, it's a high of fifty five degrees
yet to stick with John's And then my other choice
is Hollywood The Dream, which kind of like a Ripbride rocket, okay,
or the Flying Dinosaur, which is an inverted roller coaster.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
I am thinking you're gonna go Flying Dinosaur. I don't.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
I haven't decided that one.

Speaker 4 (21:18):
If you watch the videos of those, you're.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Gonna want to do the dinast that's the thing. It's
pretty rad. Yeah, then again, you can wait in line.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
The thing about the Hollywood Dream is every now and
every now and then you can run it backwards.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
What yeah, really, yes, that's interesting. You have to like
request it or it's just a matter of luck.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
No, it's a timing thing. Like there's certain times where
it's a backwards going backwards.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Yeah, I'd say just wait in line those times.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
I mean that's the thing. Like there's other things. There's
a bunch of like they have a lot of anime things.
They have a snoopy there. So it's just like I
also have a lot of requests of like, hey, can
you go do this and tell me what it's like?

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Fun? One again, this is I think tax reasons. You
can probably you know you have a good time with
your tax guy.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Well not only that, but it's like I feel like
I'm going vicariously for a bunch of people.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
Yes, we all want to do it. I can't afford
to fight alone. I get to Japan, everything's great, but
the flight is what gets you.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
And then the other things that I'm doing that aren't
like a theme park. I like I said, I'm doing

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Yes? I did. Yeah, that was the same thing that
I did that day that I booked it. So I
went across the street. Did that good thing I did
because they were closed on a Black Friday, So like
I got that take care of. I am going to
the restaurant from kill Bill Nice where she fights the

is dinner the second night that I am there.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
It sounds like it's going to be an amazing trip.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
And really that's the only stuff that I've booked because
everything else I want to just go.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Do, just go experience it and just do it.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
Yeah, I didn't want to like overload myself. We're like
itemize out every second that I'm there. Like if one
day I decide I just want to like have a
lazy day and sleep in a little bit, I don't
want to feel bad about that.

bowing Godzilla?

Speaker 2 (23:34):
So so, I there is a temple that I really
want to go to. It's a temple that is run
by a shiba okay, the little dog Okay, all right,
And I'm like, well, I want to go do that,
Like how far is it? And then I looked earlier today,
I'm like it's a twenty minute walk from my hotel.
What so, I thought that was going to kind of

(23:57):
take up a lot of that morning. And if it's that,
there are two Godzilla stores that I am like, it
has to be there. It's in a place called Diversity,
the Diversity Mall. I will be going.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
There, all right, going to a mall Dickerman style.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
I haven't feel like I'll be going to a lot
of malls, but.
