Speaker 1 (00:03):
Dashly and the Gym in Morning Show with DJ fourn
It saw its a big morning Bustin's.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Number one for hip hop jam in ninety four or five.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Hi, everybody, good morning, it's Ashing the Gym in Morning show.
This turned into a hot topic, venting Sashon. During the
check in, we were, you know, just asking people what
was up. We had a girl call in who's kind
of going through it with her mom right now. She
posted just like a little something, a meme or whatever
on her Facebook. Mom saw it, took it personally and

(00:37):
sent her a four page email and she's like, it's
just the back and forth between me and my mom.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
It's not good.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Then the phone line started to light up of people,
you know, kind of talking about their relationship with their mothers.
Morgan was on hold. We just didn't have time to
get to you. Morgan, correct me if I'm wrong. You
were basically saying mom in law got mad initially because
you guys didn't go to her for Halloween.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
So yes, I told her I would go there and
stop by to show her the baby. But it's a
baby sirst Halloween, she was seven months, so you know
she wanted to see her and I was like, totally fine,
but I do home.

Speaker 5 (01:17):
Clear.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
I'm a CNA and I have long days, and I.

Speaker 6 (01:20):
Have three kids, so I puting the baby.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
I have twins, so I'm like, I had to get
them from school and all that fun stuff. And I
know as soon as I got home at you already
five thirty and I'm like, no, we have to go,
like I have time to stop there. And then when
I'm with the kids, I'm not on my phone, so
I'm sorry I couldn't call, but you know, it is
what it is, right and now the other like literally

(01:43):
this weekend, this past weekend, she texted me and she's like,
since she blew me off on Halloween one, am I
seeing the grand baby. I'm like, oh no, absolutely not.
So you know, I told her son my boyfriend. I
was like, you need to talk to your mom. She's
going to go through you for my one because I
knew she didn't want to care about borrow. Yeah, and
then they had a brawl and it was, you know,

(02:05):
a sombs everywhere, and I'm like, oh, yeah, no, And
you know, I've learned, I have three kids. If people
want to see them, they're gonna reach out. They're gonna
come to you, and I'm like, I'm done going two people.
I don't run on a one time but my own
and all my kids' schedules. That's it.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
I mean, that's exactly what I respect, is that your
boyfriend stood up for you, because that's the major problem
when it doesn't work out, is when the boyfriend or
the husband doesn't have your back. If you guys are
on the same page and things are good and that's
the foundation.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Oh absolutely. And I'm like, you know what, like our
relationhoips has been really rocky, but lately, you know, it's
been pretty good. And he's like, you know, I stood
up for you, like I got in some argument with her,
and I'm like I understand that, but like again, I
don't run on any one's time. And if people truly
want to be there for their grandchildren, they will and
they shouldn't be like pulling teeth for them to watch them.

(02:56):
You know, Like I'm twenty three or three kids, I
should be clubbing.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
No, well you can three kids.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Wow? And you know what somebody might also say like, yeah,
I get it, you're twenty three, you should be clubbing,
But you made a decision, and that's great you have
because you have three beautiful babies. I think mom in law,
who also has had kids, should know that with a
seven month old and also two other kids, it's hard enough.

(03:26):
So I'm shocked that she just didn't say to you, like,
why don't I meet you at the house at five,
I'll help everybody get ready and we'll go out for Halloween.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I'm surprised that wasn't on the table.

Speaker 7 (03:35):
I want to ask Morgan a question real quick, though,
do you ever take the kids there at all? So?

Speaker 6 (03:43):
I'm sorry, so, yeah, so the so my twins are
not from him, they're from a.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Previous relationship, so I have the baby with him, and yeah,
like she used to say, I'll take the baby every
Monday because she has her other two grandchildren and every
Monday off three thirty, like I'll take them, no problem.
And then it came to, okay, now it's too much
with all three of them together. How about I take
them every other Sunday? And I'm like, hold on, there's

(04:11):
no way, because you have your other two kid two
grandchildren every week, so why can't you see mine every week?
You know what I mean? Yeah, Like she's not watching them,
so we can go out. Nobody watches them really for
a date night. I don't remember the last time we
had one. So it's like if we're if anyone's watching them,
or any grandparent is watching them, it's because I'm working, right, Yeah, that's.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
It, Like you actually physically need the help because you
have to go to work. It's listen, it's a it's
a weird You wouldn't believe the amount of DMS I
got from people being like, it's a weird relationship between
me and my mom.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
She wants to see the grandkids, but she.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Charges, Like one girl wrote me and she's like, I
have to pay my mom fifteen dollars an hour to
watch my kid and my mom lives with me.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Oh yeah, that's crazy that Oh no, this is lunacy.
I mean.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
But you know what's crazy is like my boyfriend said
it this past weekend, Hey babe, let's go out to eat.
I'll pay your mom fifty bucks. I'm like, what, so
I called her and he's like, yeah, pay fifty bucks.
I'm like, you're not paying her anything. She's a grandmother,
Like yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah, And that's a weird thing.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Like I feel the same way now when my mom
does come over if it's around food time. I'll be like, hey,
let me let me get dinner tonight, because you've helped
me out so many times.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
I've done things like that.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
If I'm out and I see something that my mom
might like, I'll grab it, Whereas maybe I wouldn't have
just to be like a little thank you for what
you do. But my mom is the one who calls
me at the beginning of the week and says, what's
the fireman's schedule on the days he's not there, like,
please let me come over and help, like she wants to,
you know what I mean. But this whole thing, I
think it's there's a lot more people out there that
are paying their parents made.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
But to be honest, my grandmother is the one that
stays with my kids. She's with my baby every single day.
She's sixty sixty one years old. She stays with all
the grandkids. My mom is pulling teeth. Anyone else's mom
is pulling teeth. So it's like my grandmother, you know,

(06:10):
she is like a saint. I'm sorry, she was like
these saints. He is saint. And I'm just like, I
don't know truly where I would be without her, Like
and it's like, what, it has to be the generation.
I'm sorry, it definitely has to be generating. My mom's
only forty years old to have me when she was seventeen,
and his mom is saying thanks book forty forty two,

(06:30):
forty three. So it's like it has to be the
generation because.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Because I'm right, I don't know, because I'm thirty eight,
you know, so I'm right around your mom, and I
just feel like if my kids had kids, then I
would so badly want to be able to do that
and be around and be able to help, and I
wouldn't charge.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
I'm forty four and I'm doing.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
It for free, as you should be. You should be
helping out.

Speaker 6 (06:56):
I find it easier like the grandfathers want them or
like my dad, I'm like, hey.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Can you say something this weekend?

Speaker 6 (07:01):
Oh yeah, absolutely, you know what, you want them to
sleep over the night before so you don't have to
bring over them. I'm like yeah, Like my dad is
all about it, and I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Well, let me give the number because it seems like
a lot of people want to chat about this. Morgan,
thank you for the all. I don't know a world
and like if if terror started saying to me, I'm
going to charge per hour. I feel like that would
cause a rift between the two of us. It would
be very strange.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
I would understand it. If your mother left a job
to do that, then that's total.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
I would feel bad not to if she didn't have.

Speaker 7 (07:35):
A job, or if the kid has taking advantage of
the mom and just dropping the kid off whenever, and
now the mom is stepping in like, you know what,
since you just feel like this is a free fall,
you gotta start giving me fifty a.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Month, yeah or whatever.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
Remember for my birthday, the fireman got me the hotel,
and it was I was just messed up in the head.
I didn't feel like it was the right time for
me to do a sleepover away from the baby. My
mother was the one that was like, go, like I
wanted I'm here, Like I I got this. Go.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
She my mom. I don't know other people. She'd rather
me not be there. She don't wants to, you know.
She just texted me, oh, I gave the baby more
breast milk.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
She's like the milk maid and she's just giving out
my breast milk and she's living her best life at
the house.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
With the kids six.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
One seven, nine three one one four five six one
seven nine three one one nine four five. A lot
of people want to commentis are we paying the grandparents
now to.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Watch the kids? Is this is this the new thing?

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Hye, everybody, good morning, It's Ashley and the GM in
the morning show. You guys can DM me as we're
having this conversation, because I'll read a few of them
at Ashley Feldman to ease on the Ashley. But I'm
a little I'm a little blown away at how many
people are paying. No, it's it's it's a lot more

(08:52):
saying that they pay than that they that they don't want.

Speaker 7 (08:56):
Is a situation that they paying because their parents don't
work well.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
And again that no one specific, because that does If
your parents are say like, we're tired, I don't know,
and they feel like they need a little bit more income.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
That's different.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
But if your parents are working full time and they
say that they I don't it's By the way, this
all started because a woman called in and her and
her mom were kind of going at it, and then
somebody else responded to it to me and was like, no,
I have to pay my mother to watch my kids.
I'm getting people writing me it's fifteen per hour. My

(09:27):
mom charges twenty per hour. Like, oh, my mother's at
my house right now, you guys, like literally, Nanny Helen
is in Italy living it up. I want to be
Nanny Helen when I grow up. And so my mom's there.
It wasn't even like again I said, I will do
other things like I, you know, grabbed dinner for her
or whatever the case may be.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
But what but your mom's nice. I can picture these
people out there who aren't nice and say, I'll only
watch this if I get paid with an attitude. And
there are all those people like out there too.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
The phone lines are going crazy right now. Linda is
in Boston HIGHLANDA.

Speaker 8 (10:03):
Hi, good morning.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
So you actually on the other end love paying your
mom to babysit the kids?

Speaker 8 (10:10):
Oh my god, yes, the I mean, going back to
what Thorn said, the only reason why obviously we do
it is because this is kind of like my mom's
main income, Like she has other side jobs that she does.
But me and my husband are like, of course, like
she we have a daughter that's just turned six, and
then our son that just turned three. So when our

(10:33):
daughter was born We're like, obviously, my mom already said
she was gonna watch our kid, and I'm like, of course,
I'm like, how much is daycare cost? True compared to
like paying my mom, so she never asks for us
to pay anything. But me and my husband agreed ever
since we had our first daughter, that we're like, yeah,
we're gonna pay her because one she's helping us save

(10:54):
so much money, and two my mom is like absolutely
the best, like show buy the kids toys, food, and
then she'll be like, oh, I have no money for myself,
but as long as the kids are good, I'm okay, yeah,
And I.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Do think that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
And I think that, like everything is situational your situation,
I would one hundred percent pay. That makes complete sense
to me. Linda, thank you for the call. I think
this is again we could go back and forth depending
on what it is. But if your mom works a
full time job and then makes you feel like you
have to pay her when she's hanging out with their
grand kid, that's.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
And that situation weird.

Speaker 7 (11:28):
She's taking the money and just putting it right back
to the kids, buying the kids as opposed to now
you need to give me one hundred dollars a week,
otherwise you can't bring the kids here.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Nance Nance Nance is an ash hi.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
Hi bab.

Speaker 7 (11:42):
Hi.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Well, I just have a what happened with my mother
in law. I have twins, and when they were little,
I asked her to babysit for the first time so
I could go out. I said the kids, I bathe
them and put them to bed because I was one
of those neurotic moms in the beginning. And I and
when I came back home a couple of days later,

(12:03):
I heard from my sister in law who said my
mother in law called her and complained that she wasn't
Oh another thing. I also got my mother in law
her favorite dinner at her restaurant to go so she
had something to eat. My god, and my sister in
law called me and said, my mom called and said
you didn't pay her.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
I like, you're like what because she had to sit
on the couch, watch TV and have her favorite chicken farm. Why, yes,
that's crazy. And then you probably never wanted to ask again.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
No, No, I didn't. I she could come and see
the kids whenever with me, But I never asked her
again because I was just floored by that. I was
just floored. So I can understand. I understand when people
need them money or or something like that, or giving
up their job, but in this case, for the limited
time I asked her, I was very shocked by that.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
So yeah, no, Nancy, thank you for the call.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
I also, it was funny after gymnastics, I was at
Tumble Fund in MARSHALLD and we were walking out and
my mom was walcome with Layla and a lady came up.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
We're chatting.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
I made it very clear to this woman, I'm like,
my world doesn't go round if not for Nana. Like,
Nana helps me out so much, especially when the fireman's
working like twenty four or forty eight. She's always wanting
to come over and hang out with the girls and stuff.
But she's never asked for money, like because it's what
she wants to do.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
I mean, she's the one asking me to come over.
I'm again, guys.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
She's a nice person compared to some of these other
people here who are.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Evil to call behind behind the back and complain that no,
that's nuts.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Also, by the way, I try to do the same thing.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
I will say to my mom, oh, like you know,
we would love to go out and dinner, but come
at eight because then I can get both the girls down,
everybody's fed, and then all you do for you. And
my mom's like no, I want to be there for
dinner time. I want to come, like no, just tell me.
But I do get I like that woman, did I
get in erotic. I'm trying to make it as easy
as possible because I feel bad, but my mom wants
to do these things. I don't know why who I'm

(13:57):
trying to convince like I'm getting up.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Terry asked her money because you'll pay man.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
She got it
