I have a story to tell you, my friend, because
you are the president, owner, founder of Fubu.

I was in high school.

I played basketball in college, so in high school it

I look over and I'm like, what does that say?

My dad was at my high school basket yeah, rocking
a fuo bousher, And that was the first time that
I had ever seen it, you know, knowing that you
were coming, I was.

I did not know that you were out here literally
sewing hats.

Yeah, that's crazy too.

sewing hats and selling them and start in eighty nine.
Actually that's when that's when I started doing that.

Yeah, and you learned that from your mother. She was

I learned it. Well, I was poor and I needed
to know how to sew my clothes. I was a breakdancer,
so I sewed my clothes and then I learned how
to sew hats, and yeah, I said, well maybe I
can make some money.

Who was the first person that wore Fubu that you
were taken aback like, oh my god, we've made it.

So and so was wearing food.

OJ Yes, and I remember that absolutely. Yeah, yeah, he
wore And then he actually put in the Gap commercial
and they shot a commercial for the Gap and he
said in the commercial for us by us on the
low and the Gap. Remember there was there was no Internet,
there was no there was no social media. And it
aired for six weeks. They spent thirty million dollars airing

the Fubu ad and everybody that was into hip hop,
black white, what are the cases that worked in the company.
They said, we're not going to tell the bosses. They
don't respect us, so let me keep let them keep
airing this ad. Rice.

Yeah, and now people would die for, you know, their
brand to be quickly mentioned in something like that. And
you and I were chatting about just the power of
social media and how that's changed, like those are the
real ads, now, that's.

And I always say to people, you know a lot
of a lot of people watch Shark Tank, and you know,
if you look at Sharks Ring Doorbell didn't get an
investment and they sold to Amazon for one point two
billion dollars. Why because the people at home said, with
their phones on social media, it's screw what the sharks think.
I like this product. Yeah, and so when you whether

you and I were talking, whether you go into a
deli or any product, or your sister, your friend and
your family, if you just put it on social media
that you like it. Like I said, if seven hundred
people go into a deli a day and fifty or
seventy of them talk about the sandwich or whatever they like, there,
you just changed that business's trajectory forever. So it's the

power of social media. Using it for good, not did.

I were just looking at a whole business model of
social media and these influencers and how much things have changed.
You know, I won't say the name of the brand,
but they sell donuts and people love them here, and
they used to do big time investments down the hole,
but they have totally changed their business model and now
they use all influencers and you know what, it works.

The specific girl I see her, She's like, all right,
I'm trying the new drink this morning with this donut,
and I'm like, damn, now I have to go try
that drink.

because I give you example. Let's use the Kardashians for example.

I used to manage them actually, for I wanted a
Shark Tank because you know, uh, when they called me
up for shar Tank, I said, I'm doing a show
for these three girls that I'm kind of co managing,
and they said, we can't be on shar Tank if
you're on there. And then Chloe found out that I
was starting now shar Tank because I was co managing
the girls, so she fired me.

Yeah, she said, the world needs to know Hawaii, I
should never getting my way.

Oh oh, that's what we need to hear about them,
because somebody on this show likes to throw a little
shade their way.

Well, if you ever look at the season one through three,
they're wearing my brand, Koujie all in the show because
I couldn't get nobody else to put the clothes in
the show.

Yeah, so I sugg, you have a special place in
your heart for them.

I have a very special place in my heart for them.
But uh, but let's look at him. Aren't going to
say she's let's say she has three hundred million followers,
and you go and say, I'm gonna pay for three
hundred million follower as well, and you're you're you, you're
selling a lipstick. Well, twenty five percent of those people,
you're paying for three hundred million people. Though twenty five
percent of those people will buy anything that Kim has.

Another twenty five percent will say, I'm not buying that
from I'm buying it from anybody else by Kim right,
And then fifty of those people are just guys with
trench coach and lollipops and there in their uh, in
their mouths, and they're not they're not buying anything. But
if you look at the brand that you just talked about,
if they're going towards a whole bunch of celebrity influencers

who may not have this huge public platform, ninety percent
of the people respecting what they're saying. And everybody listening
to us right now is an influencer.

We have someone in this room that's a newfound influencer
who's that and well, let me let me set it
up for you before I tell you. And she is
trying to force all of it like she's she's she's
pushing a product. Now I've tried to report multiple times
because she's pushing sex products. That's her new thing. And

No, no, sorry, we do not know anything about those
people who come on the Shark Tank. First of all,
we don't even get a piece of paper on those people.
But uh, you know those products that that we we lose,
we lose out on. It just wasn't for us, you see.
You know, at the end of the day, when you
walk in front of the sharks, you know, only God
can judge you. It's not up to us to judge you.
We're judging if it works for us. So can I

license it out? Can I get a celebrity to where it?
Can I you know, help with the manufacturing distribution. The
things that I thought of the stupidest things ever have
worked really well for another shark, like Laurie has. Laurie
has twelve of the top twenty best selling products in
Shark Tank history. Wow, she's the flea market of Shark Tank.
If it's fifty dollars in plastic, she's gonna sling it. Yeah,

And that's just her because she she's had that stage
on QVC and she knows her boarders. I have the
number one product in Shark Tank history. It's it's uh,
you know, Dave and Randy they went to Bapson Bomba
socks all the time. Yeah, everywhere it's apparel, right, So
you know I think Rohan, I think he has poppy right?

Did that come on Shark Tank? U that poppy soda?
It's beverages. So again, I never look at things and say, man,
I wish I would have done that because it wouldn't
have been the same that. You know, like we had
a record label at Fuble. Eminem came up to h
you know, to audition for our record label. If Eminem
was on the Fubul record label, he'd be sweeping up
this studio. It all depends on who you meet and

Oh no, I was just gonna say, if you get
a product put in front of you and you're and
you're just indecisive, you can't make a decision and you
have to pick up the phone and you had to
call one shark one other shark, did you just want
to you kind of want to put this in front
of them see what their thoughts on which shark.

Are you choosing? I can't pick up the phone. On
the other side, I'd call me. I really want to
hear me expert's opinion, but I it would be a shark.
Who it really. If it's technology, I'd call Cuban, or
I'll call Robert, you know. If it's franchising real estate, Barbara,
you know, I'm gonna call an expert.

Do you invest in the idea or the person? Because
I feel like both as are both importan hundred percent
the person. I'm not investing in the idea at all,
one hundred and twenty percent the person. Because you know,
I don't need to speak to anybody. If I want
to make money, I just send my money over the market.
They don't wake up Steve Jobs from the dead and
ask me to fix a computer or Elon Musk or Shopify.
They don't ask me to do it. I'd either make

money or I lose money. So if I'm going to
sit next to a person, and people have to think
about that, whether it is sitting next to the person
as an investor or an employer or employee. If I
have to sit next to you eight hours a day,
five days a week, or across from me on zoom
for the next five years of my life. I have
to like you. I have to understand that we're going
to solve these challenges together and if this business fails,
are just going to do another one together.

a roll of the dice because our audience is absolutely insane.

I don't know. I've always talked about this with my
friends because I'm like five three in like our area
a lot of like short girls, and I feel like
every time I go to a clothing store or anything,
there's just not like a lot of options for like
the teats or whatever. So my idea is a store
clothing brand that's just focused on just stuff made for

short bodies.

Short people shout out to the short kings of the world,
and so I'm going to get that out there.

You got an idea, and how to get that out there?

I don't know, just probably like social media, wor in
a mouth giving out products and stuff. I don't know.

Well, what's the biggest challenge that people short have with
the clothing?

Is it?

Is it? Is it tops? Is it bottoms? Is it
the whole set I.

Say it's the whole set, Like when I've gone to
Europe a lot of them. Like I feel like clothing
is made a lot more for like the shape of clothing,
the length of clothing, just like things can be made
in short but it's not really made with like a
short body in mind, Like the proportions are just different,
so it's just not as flattering.

Well the best way, well, here's the best way to
you know, when I actually when I started pool, I
really started with addressing a market. I only had money
for fifty shirts. And what I did was I bought
fifty shirts and I didn't give them to the cool kids.
I gave them to the big bodyguard guys, and I
made five X and six X because they only had
one or two choices Rochester, big and Toll for a

plain white shirt or a big, you know, custom piece.
And those guys would wear them five and ten times
a month. And those big guys were in front of
the red ropes, they were in front of celebrities, they
were bodyguards. And I got my brand out with that.
So with you, before making it yourself, go to countries
that people a little bit smaller, you know, Japan and

various other things. Grab clothes from there and you can
do it online and then put up a Shopify store
where you can start seeing where people are gravitating towards
your clothes. I would do that first before you may
do a big store, so now you don't have to
do your own runs, and you can put it up
on an online store and just start to get some feedback.
I mean, that's how I would think you would start.

even create out of it like a a week ago,
but I think it's so freaking genius. I'm gonna set
the scene. Okay, you're in the bathroom. Okay, you're trying
to use your shampoo or conditioner, but you bought the
pump kind like me, because it's easier for my kids. Now,
the bottom of it. I don't know if this happens
to you guys, but I like, I'm constantly I'm at

the bottom. But I can't get the rest out without
unscrewing the top. Now, solution it would be a cap
that you can lock. Now I'm thinking, I don't really
think I want to, Like, I don't think selling this
as the physical product itself would be really effective, but
selling it to suppliers that do things like this. But
if you lock that top that pumps, and then you

flipped it upside down and you were able to squeeze it,
so the top would work. Is both a pump and
a squeeze, you to be able to squeeze the rest
out right, Okay, so.

You curse, but just so everybody can can come back around. Basically,
what you're saying is and I, as a mother as well,
deal with this because you know, I'm not letting any
drop go like this. This stuff is expensive, so I
gotta take the top off and I'm in the shower
trying to get out the kids.

It's a lot.

So you're saying that the bottom then you could kind
of unscrew and use it as a squeeze as well.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
It's it's pumped, okay, got it? Those pumps that are
actually more round than they are, like a physical pump
that do you ever see one of those. I'm saying
if you locked it like slims to the right, pop
the top, and then you were able to squeeze it
so it no longer becomes a pump.

I like it was great idea. You know that's a
B to B product. So what you would do is
you trademarket. You go to the you would get a
patent on that, and then you can also go to
the us PTO United States Patent Trademark Office. You pull
up USPTO dot gov and you will see the category
that would be in and that would be I'm not
sure in what category of bottles that would be in.

You would make a couple of units, small run and
then you would go because you know, everybody has a
lotion company and a candle company out there, so don't
worry about going to Johnson and Johnson first. Now go
to all these small companies and give it away. Run
off a couple of units. I mean probably for a
thousand dollars. You can run off a good amount of
units of this once you get it actually made, that's

the harder part, and I would I would test it
with these smaller companies first, and then when you see
if they're increased in sales, then you can take it
to the bigger company and say, look, I increase sales
by five percent due to this item.

It's giving bed, bath and beyond. I could see it there.

Yeah, I'm just sticking taking the cap off and then
slamming it on my handle. I'm in the shower like
