Hi everybody, good morning. You know these topics like this,
they're ones that are always going to come up, no
matter time of year. Place. We had a quick convo
(00:25):
before we left for vacation about buying coffee for a
coworker that went on Facebook now for you were saying
you saw a separate conversation that's going right now on Facebook,
and it's the one everybody always talks about, which is
splitting the bill in a group setting. Absolutely, So there's
four of you out to dinner, bill comes to four
(00:48):
hundred dollars. Are we splitting evenly or are we doing
the well? I only got a garden salad and I
didn't have a drink. I just had witter, So I'm
only going to pay twenty dollars towards the bill. How
are we handling I.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Feel like, as an adult in my forties, I say
we just split it in like four ways. It's the
easiest thing.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Okay, So water is free, A solid is twelve dollars. Yeah,
but the bill is four hundred but we went out
as a group, and now I'm with you.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, once you agree to go out in a group setting,
the bill is split, no matter what my opinion all about.
Now you don't have the money to go out in
a group setting like that, cool, meet us up after.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
That's fine, Or say that in the beginning. If I'm
if I'm inviting y'all, say I'm inviting you for your birthday,
different story. I'm paying for you, right, But if it's
just like yo, y'all want to get up on Saturday
and just go, oh yeah, sure, let's go, y'all drinking
top shelf champagne. What the bill is five hundred bucks?
I have a water which is free and a salad
(01:46):
for twelve dollars. You want me to split the other
one hundred dollars with you?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, like I would assume, So yeah, show you level
the ten. Now, if you really don't want to pay
for everything, maybe somewhere in the context of the conversation
you say something like, hey, guys, I'm only getting this.
I'm going to give you money for this. You guys
want to spend on whatever wine.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
You know what happens after that? Y'all never invite me
to go out again.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
You're gonna get talked about your or I think listen,
if you're if you're somebody at the table and like you,
you drink like me, right, and you have five, six,
seven drinks and ten fifteen, I would say out loud like, guys,
you don't, nobody has. I'm gonna throw in a little
bit extra. But that's just me. I just think in general.
By the way, this has literally happened to me. It
(02:29):
was ten of us at a table, so it was
years ago, and the guy ordered a salad and did
not drink, and he really wanted to just put twenty
dollars on the table, and everybody was like, we're just
splitting the bill, like we it was discussed that we
were splitting the bill, and he made a legit like
stink about it. It was very uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
How old was the guy forty four?
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Forty four years old acting like that for real?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Could be the heats for Like, why y'all taking advantage
of me because you know the bills about to be split?
So now you go crazy. Me's up.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
After, We're happy to see you. After you can have
your garden salad and Betty six one seven nine three
one one nine four five. If you agree to go
out in a group setting, are we splitting the bill evenly?
