Speaker 1 (00:01):
Dashly and The jam In Morning Show with DJ fourn
It's saw tag Morning Cousin's.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Number one for hip hop jam In ninety four or five.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
Hi, everybody, Good morning, Sashally the jam In Morning Show. Listen.

Speaker 4 (00:15):
It's uh, it would be weird of us to not
talk about what's going on in California right now as
we speak. I mean a large part of so callup
Southern California is legit ashes.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
La is on fire. La is on fire.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
If you are just waking up and you're seeing the news,
the devastation is like something I've never seen. Over two
hundred thousand people have been told they need to save themselves,
why they can and evacuate. We only have a death
count of five right now. That is absolutely going to
go up with the way the world is in social media.

(00:54):
Seeing some of these videos and people's account firsthand. I
just watched a guy by the name of Alex Troy
and his Snapchat a L e x C h oh I.
If you have Snapchat, take a second and go check
out some of the stuff he's posting. He actually starts
out by saying it might be too graphic for some people.

(01:14):
Whole streets just engulfed in flames. Firefighters aren't even allowed
to go down the streets, and there are some people
that are choosing to stay there and try to protect
their home. I think you have to leave. There's nothing
that can be done. But I understand it. I understand
why somebody would be an elderly man with a garden house,

(01:35):
has his pets in his car and won't leave.

Speaker 5 (01:37):
I have up on Ashley in the am on the
story before and after of how some of these streets
and buildings looked before and of course after it's it's
it's like night and day. It's not even the same place.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
The aerials that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
Of the Pacific Palisades right now look like something out
of like silo, something.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Like a media came down l A and.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
It it's ongoing. It's literally happening as we speak. Three
of the five fires are at zero percent containment, meaning
they are just a blaze. They're running out of what
are there in LA. It's super dry and the winds
are working against them, eighty to one hundred mile per
hour winds.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
So this thing is lighting up.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
It's going football field links within seconds. The first fire
or wildfire, we knew it was in the Pacific Palisades area,
but then one hit Hollywood Hills last night. Runyon Canyon
for anybody who's visited California a very popular spot. We're
joined by Anthony Bonbda. He's Boston guy. Former intern here,
a VET, a filmmaker, a lot of things there on

(02:42):
your resume.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Anthony, you were in Hollywood Hills last night.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
You sent Santi a video of kind of what it
looked like you got to Venice. Now, I know there's
a curfew in Santa Monica. What is Venice looking like?
Can you see ash?

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Like?

Speaker 4 (02:55):
What?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Give me just a description of what it's like to
be in Venice.

Speaker 6 (02:59):
Well, right now, it's eerily calm. It smells like you know,
you can smell the fire. You can smell it burning,
like as if you're in front of a fireplace. The
ashes are falling down. It seems like it's snow, but
it's ashes. And the more north you go, the more
towards Santa Monica and the Palisades, it just you know,

(03:21):
ashes everywhere. Right, but it's right now, it's about three
forty six in the morning, so it's eerily calm. Yeah,
but you know, there's just you know, it's there's nothing
has like, there's nothing like this that's happened before. We've
had fires, you know, throughout the years, but nothing like this.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
This is.

Speaker 6 (03:44):
I'm lost for words right now how we're feeling right now.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
The videos that I've seen from Hollywood Hills last night,
people are like getting out of their cars and standing
in the middle of the street and just staring because
it did look like something out of a movie.

Speaker 6 (03:59):
Absolutely. I mean I was out of red light and
just you see it off in the distance in the
hills and it's all on fire and it's glowing, and
you're just you're hypnotized by it in a way. And
the light turns green and you don't even go You're
just staring at it, like what is going on? This
is so surreal, like dream like, and you know, you

(04:19):
always say you know what you're gonna do when it happens,
but then this is again, it is also real.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Do you know anybody or have any friends and family
in the Hollywood Hills specific Palisades area.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
Yes, my agent lost his house. I texted him this
morning and I said, hey, are you in the family Okay,
And he lives up in the in the Malibu Hills
and he's like, we left me and my kids are good,
but you know, the house is most likely gone. He's
almost starting it's gone, and I'm just like, damn. Like

(04:53):
you know, I've been to his house many times over
the summer, so I know exactly where he lives. And
all that is on the news right now and it's
all all devastated. And these fires have never crossed over
the PCH the Pacific Coast Highway before it into those
cliff side houses in Malibu before, and that's why I'm
telling you this is something we've never seen before in

(05:13):
California ever. And you know that word is always getting
thrown around the worst of all time, this and that,
but this time it really means that.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
No, it absolutely does see it And obviously we're watching
it from Afar, and like you said, there's that three
hour time difference. How do you feel okay in Venice
right now? Do you feel safe being there?

Speaker 6 (05:34):
Yeah, we're good. I mean, the winds are insane still,
you know, they're you know, forty to fifty mile an
hour winds overnight last night was even worse. But as
far as how we feel, I mean, you can smell
it and you know, you see a little bit of
ash here and there, so you sense the danger even
though you're far away. But if you just look out

(05:56):
your window, you can see the orange skies glowing right,
and you see the smoke in the haze, and you
got to keep your windows closed and if you have
air filters or whatever. But it's scary.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah, no, I can't imagine it.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
And for everybody that's in California, you know, like you said,
it's like you guys have dealt with things before, but
this is this is a different beast. This is gonna
be something that we talk about and the devastation from
for a long time to come. You know, the aerial
shots of Pacific Palisades, it's gone. Like it is, it's
completely wiped out. It's eerie and it's awful. And like
you said, people I've spent time in Malibu, you know,

(06:36):
it's it's such an amazing, beautiful place and parts of
it are gone.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
You raced, I mean, there's there was initially a lot
of confusion. I don't know if you guys saw the
reports or the videos of people just abandoning their cars, yes,
and like they couldn't even go nowhere. They just jumped
out and ran and then they had to come with
bulldozers the movies cars out of the way, and you know,
a lot of people don't know what to do. There's

(07:03):
a lot of a lot of that going on, and
you know that's obviously going to lead into a lot
of talks about people. People are going to make it
political and all this all this stuff, right.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Yeah, it's.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
Yeah. I can say that the l a p D.
And the fire department are doing their thing. Man, they're
doing their duty. They're they're making their presence felt, and
you know, God bless them and everything they're they're doing. Like,
you know, as long as we can give them everything
they need to do their jobs, that's first and foremost
what I have to say about them. You know, they're
they're all they're all killing it with limited resources at

(07:37):
that while they're running out and things like that, there's
still you know, there's just too many, too many fires,
and they're too big, and you know, it's too windy,
and they're up in the hills and it's just impossible
situations that they're up against. And they're here up to
three days at a time, and you know, myself included,
I'm about to go to a volunteer with the VFW

(07:59):
right now about in about twenty minutes. So that's amazing.
Every everybody's everybody's getting there. Everybody's getting it up and
getting there their fish together to help out.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
So well, listen, we'll keep checking in with you, obviously,
keep checking in with us.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Stay safe, stay safe.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
You know, it's just like I said, this is going
to be one of those things where I hate saying
this and it's so scary, especially for you in California,
Like I don't there's no end in sight right now.
Three of the five fires have zero percent containment. Like
you said, there's a lack of resources, there's no witter.
You know, some of these firefighters they're getting in there
and they want to try to help put it out,
but they have nothing to do that with. So, you know,

(08:39):
God willing that wind kind of subsides. Santi is like
looking at some of the weather patterns for the next
upcoming week and it does look like the wind is
going to subside a little bit, which will make a
big difference.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
Yeah, they're telling us Friday it's gonna go like subside
and all that. The red alert, the red flag alert,
they're calling it. And one more thing, you know, not
to be off conspiracy theory as well, but like I
was literally out of red light about probably five hours ago,
and I look at a gas station and there was
these two homeless guys filling up like jars of gasoline,

(09:15):
like not jars, but like laundry soaked plastic bents like
you know, all or tide. They're filling them up with gasoline.
I'm looking at them, like, what these people doing? Yeah,
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
I don't know either, Listen, I said it earlier.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
There was a there's a rumor on social media right
now that the fire, specifically in Hollywood Hills Runyon Canyon,
was like done on purpose.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Again, who knows? People are going to talk?

Speaker 6 (09:42):
I don't know. I don't know either, but I know, yeah,
they're on camera. So I'll report it later when I
get a chance, and you know, hopefully nothing comes of it,
but you know, I just wanted to throw that out there.
And yeah, I appreciate you guys checking on me, santi
all you guys, love you guys. Hit me up anytime
I'm here. I'll keep keep on fighting. Then we'll be

(10:03):
good though, all.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Right, man, stay safe, Thank you, that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
What they're going to do is sell the gas because
the gouging is going to go through the roof out there.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
Well, I was thinking that too, or they were thinking,
I got to get out of here, let me let
me get the gas.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
Someone somewhere and I don't and I don't mean to
even sound insensitive, but this is exactly what's going to happen.
Someone somewhere is already scheming up away how to build
all these houses back up for a dollar. Somebody is
already trying to get titles and deeds and all of
these things to properties because they already know, Okay, once
this is all said and done, we're gonna have to
rebuild this place. And I want to be that person
to make all the money to do it. All the

(10:37):
lawyers who are going to get paid, that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Construction companies, the wallboard like all that's plumbers, they're going.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
To get paid.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
But should I say Anbnb? And I also saw that
Planet Fitness is also offering places for people to go
shower and uh and kind of settle and shelter if
they need to.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
So it's easy for us to be like, oh, I've
seen a house fire, but I don't think you've seen
the Higher Street on fire like that insual is what
they're seeing in it.

Speaker 4 (11:00):
And I'm just so I'll leave you guys with a
joke because obviously this is pretty heavy, but I'm just
so glad that we got Anthony on because Jody, my
best friend that I've discussed a few times who lives
in southern California, is so.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Bad on air.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
And I actually thought to myself, no, because I thought
to myself, I could call her. I know, I'd like, okay, okay,
and she'd be like, it smell fire, there is fire.
