by now. I really really wish there was some sort
of miracle that I was going to be able to
report this morning. But all sixty four passengers on that
plane from which Tauk, Kansas to DCA, and the three
men in.

The helicopter have all died.

Obviously overnight and throughout the day yesterday, that rescue mission
was in full force. More than forty bodies were recovered
by the end of the day on Thursday. I can
tell you that both flight recorders have been recovered. So
I do think we're going to learn a lot some
other just small tidbits of information we're getting. The soldiers

inside of the helicopter were in fact wearing night vision goggles,
which is not strange to them. They were wearing them
at the time of the accident, but those goggles do
not block field of vision. And via our discussion yesterday,
all three pilots experienced but.

Clearly something still won awry. Something they've something.

The one that I keep lending to and the one
that sticks out the most to me is every time
I watch that video, you see the flight landing, obviously
when there's the crash with the helicopter, but you also
see another plane taking off. And if in fact it
is true that through air traffic control they said we

see the plane. You gotta believe they were talking about
the one taking off.

Yes, in the in the tower. They thought the one
that was landing right in.

But eis a way, man. You keep watching the video
and I've seen like the ones like and people are
just horrified. I can't even imagine what it was like
to look up and see the whole thing happen.

was understaffed.

Yeah, and that's another thun. I saw her. I mean,
I don't know, but I saw something else that the
guy that was in there left early. They were understaff
with the job that that guy was doing. It takes
two people to do that. Like, who the hell knows,
But clearly something happened that wasn't supposed to.

There's just so many, so many different things, and you know,
obviously this is.

Just so devastating and so heartbreaking. And now there's connections
to here to Boston. We found out that six people
from the skating Club of Boston located in Norwood, lost
their life on that plane. Nancy Carrigan, who's a local
former Olympian figure skater. Everybody knows who Nancy Carrigan is.

Was so distraught and devastated by this and how close
it was to her, and these are her friends. She
just got in her car and went to the skating club.

We are strong, and I guess it's how we respond
to it. And so my response is to be with
people like care about and I love and.

And she left there saying when figure skaters fall, they

a podcast on Thursday that he had a cancerous tumor
removed from his kidney.

I'm asking these questions because now my father has went
through something, and now I know that if the man
who birthed me, brought me here is going through this,

the full body scan, they were able to see my
entire body, my entire inside, and they were able to
see something that was on.

My kidney, on my right kidney.

When I went in then go in for my kidneys,
and so what I had on my kidney was assist
a tumor. I get to see everything. I ask all
the questions, I go through multiple doctors, I send it
to multiple doctors. I made a decision to have surgery
I had surgery on December eighteenth, twenty twenty three, to
find out, obviously at forty one years old, pretty healthy guy,

that I did have cancer. Thank god that I did
do the surgery right, because the tumor was cancerous.

He went on to say, as a man, you never
want your family to see you weak. You don't want
to be perceived as weak. You don't want to be
seen in your weakst moments. But I had to, he said,
I saw everybody show up for me and be there
for me. And in that process and my weakness, I
found strength in my family and my friends and in
my group.

Well, I guess the good thing is is that you
can live with one so you know.

Ye. What I hear from that is like, get out there,
get your checkouts too.

I got a little jumper. Can't dribble, don't pass, don't rebound,

An amazing, amazing time with all me and all my
teammates get together, and I'm sure you feel the same way.
Sound we tell the same stories on repeat and we
there are always actual tears because we act as if
we I've never heard the stories before.

It's the best, and that's the thing. You fall right
back into the routine.

just literally probably the craziest year of my life. But
I lost it was it was that unlucky three. I
lost Drake, I lost my good friend mel and then

To back to back. There is this and I know
I talked about this during that time.

I can I can digest Nana's because Nana has she
lived such a long life and she did so many
amazing things, like Nana biked across the Europe, you know,
like she did the craziest of crazy things, and she
got to meet all of her grandkids and their kids
and she you know, it was Nona's time, and I

was okay with that. Losing my teammate Melissa, a young,
vivacious mom with four kids that are extremely young. One
is a legit baby, you know that one I still

can't digest.

And this game on Sunday is.

Dedicated to her, and it's going to be, you know,
all about her and her legacy at Northeastern, so it
is an alumni game, but it's also like Mel's game
and her husband John's going to be there and her
family will be there, and obviously she won't And I
was thinking about this driving in. I'm getting choked up
now thinking about it, like this is one of those

ones I like, won't let my body process it, I think,
and I just won't accept it. So sometimes when I
think about this weekend, it's like it genuinely doesn't feel real.
We all got jerseys made with you know her name
and like her throwback jersey, and I have it hanging
up because we're gonna wear it this weekend. And I

was looking at it this morning when I'm getting ready,
and I'm like it just it's like my body cannot
process it.

I can't. I just cannot accept it. I don't understand.

She went in for a routine surgery and she's gone,
and I think about her kids, and I think about
the youngest little Junie and not just not understanding and
probably getting frustrated like where's Mom? Like why is Mom
not coming home? And you know, I think Sean her
husband is he's just doing such a good job of
like posting of him doing her hair and like little

things that he usually wouldn't do that he now has
to be both mom and dad and these like tragedies
like this, I I don't know, it's the weirdest thing.
It's like I can't accept it. So to me, it
still does not feel real, like I just can't.

Like I was four years ago we had a teammate
die and same exact thing, Like it doesn't feel real
because it seems unnatural. But I will say we had
the same thing for him, and it was like sad
at the beginning, but then we started telling stories about
him and then it turned into like a reminiscent part
about him where he was remembered and valued in all
these things. So I'm sure at some point you guys
will feel that as well. But the pain going like

going in is really tough.

Yeah, And I think, just like seeing everybody there and
we're all going to be in her jersey, and her
dad's going to be there and her husband, and it's
just in my head, I'm thinking, Okay, once this happens,
maybe it will be like, Okay, this is real.

I sometimes just will randomly go back and look at
our last text exchange and I'm like, it was about nothing,
miss like was her telling me she used to always
help me. See you guys wouldn't have you would have
fault her on this because I'd always write her and
be like, I want to buy I want to buy
the Chanelle and she'd like, bitch, how many times were
we gonna do this?

She was my just by I.

she would respond to my photos and be like, you're

But that's what I mean. These conversations will start to happen,
and then then it's a remembrance thing when you feel
the positivity about who they were as people. Yeah, that

I also feel a little selfish forgetting emotional about this,
just because I know there's so many people that are
affected by what happened in DC and they lost people too.
But I guess the feeling could be the same that
you're like when you see somebody just so young and like,
and I know that people have probably said this before,
but all she cared about was being a mom, Like

that was it.

She was just such a good mom to those kids.
And I think about them not having her, and it's
just it. It pains me every time.

Yeah, every time. That's probably like the toughest part is
to think about those four kids, right, yeah, heartbreaking. And
I saw you posted a picture of her of her
the other day, Yeah I did. I've never gotten like
a good glimpse of her, but I mean she looked
good in the uniform you oh, stunning, and she was
your captain, right.

No, she was older than me, okay, And so it's
funny because she was older than me, and our connection
came through my other teammates. And remember I've told you guys,
I have like two groups of Northeastern girls. The older
ones were I'm the baby, and the younger ones were
I'm the old the old ones. So and I told,
I told everybody this, and I'll leave this with this.

In the in the younger group, none of them knew her, Like,
they never met Melissa. They know nothing about her. So
I when we were talking about this game and alumni game.
I said, listen, it's also going to be a dedication
game to Melissa. I know you guys haven't met her.
We're all gonna wear her jersey. You guys don't have to.

It's this is the amount of costs if you want
one whatever. Every single one of them said, I don't
need a jersey, but I want to buy one for
her kids. I want to buy someone for her family.
So they all took care of anybody who was coming
to this game in honor of Melissa, and I just
thought that was that, Like, that's a teammate right there.

Friday, January thirty first, and I think we were all
trying to keep hope, you know, praying for a miracle,
hoping that somehow, some way, somebody one of the sixty
seven people involved in this air disaster survived. And unfortunately, guys,
and I'm sure you're seeing the news by now, more than.

Forty bodies were recovered by the.

End of the day yesterday, and all sixty seven people
in total in this air disaster have all died.

It surviving just the crash alone and then trying to
survive the temperature and the conditions in the water was
it was impossible.

the rest of it would have been just been bad

What we're learning overnight into this morning, both flight recorders
from the American Airlines plane have been recovered, also known
as the black box. I know, Sonya, really you've always
loved flying and you've kind of been.

Obsessive with that SIPE. What is the black box?

For people who don't know, it records everything and overcord
the audio between the pilot and the tie where what's
going on, and the cockpit, and then it also records
all the data, so they're gonna be able to tell
like what the plane was doing, how fast was going
when it fell, did it turn upside down? In all
these things, what the pilots were saying, what they were saying.
It records absolutely everything down to like the detail.

We found out that the soldiers and the helicopter were
in fact wearing night vision goggles at the time. This
is not out of the norm. This happens during training.
Those goggles do not block any field of vision, and
every pilot inside was experienced.

Morning from a mother whose husband and father of her

of the day, I can tell you that all sixty
seven passengers, so that would be the passengers on American
Airlines flight and also those in the helicopter. Helicopter have died.
Also can tell you that we did, in fact recover
