matter, Dan, do you thinkit matters? I think it matters at
least a little bit. It doesn'tmatter at all. Zero point zero percent

four really matter or the first twoand then they go to all minor leaguers.
But what Okay, Well hang ona second. Then if that's the
case, then they matter a little. If the first two innings matter,

Yes, the actual individual pitch bypitch results and some of the at bats
and some of the plays made inthe field do matter. It's nice to
see Bryce Matthews make up some playsat shortstop this past weekend. It was
great to hear maybe at six SpencerArraghetti throwing major league pitches against aj Hinch's

spring training ball club. But whenthe last pitch is thrown and the last
out is made and they tell youand our final today was, it just
doesn't matter. Okay. I'm gladto know that. So March twenty eighth
is when it will matter. Yeah, kind of. But you got another
one hundred and sixty one games togo, you're fine, Yeah, after
that exactly. So that's that's thenext level. You know where I come

in. And no, they matter. They matter because we actually care what
the standings say. If you careabout what the spring training standings say,
then I'm glad that you are ableto live the life the want that you
want to live. But I don'twant to live that life. Everybody can
live their own life. That's whatI said, interfere with ours. Yeah,
whatever, I'm not here to tellyou what to do. I'm telling
you what I think. I've nowadded that to some of my opinions.

The result of the game doesn't matter. But you know, to me the
most, there you go if Imust. And you know the most ironic
part of that whole thing, becauseI remember last year and the year before
that and the year before that.We've been doing the show almost well over
and nearly five years now. Infact, we're like a month shy,
I believe, of our fifth anniversary. And you're not gonna want to miss
our fifth anniversary party, by theway, he tell us to fall,

We're not going to Vegas. Andit doesn't have anything to do with a
Twitter follower account either, So noneof that, none of that's happening here.
But all the times I came inafter a harrowing loss or a brutal,
gut punch type defeat, and he'dbe like, that's just one of

and you're having to rely on theSeattle Mariners to win, and you win
just so you win the division,which in hindsight, maybe they should have
lost it because the road team wonevery game in the ALCS. Those games
did matter. Well, it's moreabout you would come in like the sky
is falling. It's okay to careabout the result, but you cared more
about Oh my god, this teamis awful. How can these guys even
pretend to be they were off theattitude. I can read the attitude.

I can read your body language ina game they should have won that they
don't is You're done with these guys, Get them out of here. This
is a joke. They're not eventrying. This is awful. How am
I supposed to wake up tomorrow now? How am I supposed to do the
show today with that nonsense they puton our radio last night as they fall
to forty seven and twenty four.Now you are describing the fourth quarter of
the Rockets game. What about thethird quarter? Well, I was being

nice, I mean, Mike,good about the second quarter. The end
of the second quarter. I justlike, come on, man, much
much better team. Unfortunately, theRockets teased us by out playing that much
much better team for about eighteen orso minutes, built a sixteen point lead
against the Thunder, and then theThunder outscored him by thirty over the next
about eighteen minutes or so, obviouslyflipped a seventeen point deficit and into a

sizeable advantage and evened up the seasonseries with the Rockets a win a piece.
The next two games against the Thunderthis season will both be played in
Oklahoma City, the next of whichis your atypical late night Tuesday evening start
from OKC. Because gotta get theRockets Thunder in front of the national audience.
They got a TNT game coming up, they got an ESPN game coming

up, though, just in timefor them to not be playing their best
basketball. This season will featured infront of the big eyes of the nation.
Yeah. I don't like that onebit. I don't like that.
Every time we hear an update quoteunquote on Tari Easan, it's not an
update, it's more we don't reallyknow, and I feel like they should
go ahead and shut him down.Yeah, we're so close to the end

of the season. Twenty five andthirty two. There's twenty five games remaining.
He missed a thirty third game ofthe season last night. I was
there when he may was talking aboutit in pregame and obviously spoke with us
on the radio side as well beforeour game last night. And they continue
to try to get more information becauseI think the initial information indicated that he

needed to rest and then when hecame back after rest and rehab, he
would be able to ramp it upand he would be okay. And then
when he rehabbed and got ramped up, he wasn't okay, and there was
still pain there, discomfort in it, you know, just not really what
it should feel like. So theyhave kind of gone back to the drawing
board and are still waiting for moredoctor's information. Yesterday he said more imaging,

and I'm sure each day preceding agame or post practice he's gonna get
asked about it because you get toa certain point, you know, is
their value in having him get allthe way ramped up again to play the
final three weeks, or is itmore make more sense to have him spend
the next six months making sure thatyou know our course of action made the
most sense, is there a surgerythat's necessary. Whatever the case may be,

the end of the day, it'sit's the same story, at least
for twenty twenty three twenty four.Tarry Easton, coming off an awesome,
almost iron man rookie season, unfortunatelyhad a complete and total waste of a
year. And it's even worse becauseit's due to injury. He didn't just
not play this year. There wasa reason he didn't play any of significance
again. Even if he comes back, it won't be that he's going to

come back in the year three saying, man, I loved what I did
on the court last year. I'mlooking forward to making and taking the next
step I was all supposed to happenthis year. He's one of the core
Rockets six, a pair of playersfrom each of the last three drafts.
The most recent two are the onesthat I think everyone's most excited about,
and they keep showing that on afairly regular basis. Of men Thompson and

Cam Whitmore, and then on downthe line, there's enough basketball left for
a few guys to I think stillmake statements towards their future, but obviously
the future greatness of the Rockets maydepend on outside forces and basketball players that
aren't currently wearing Rockets uniform. Oh, I think that's very much in play.
I think very much. So youcould say that the Rockets. I

would even go so far as tosay they're in an NBA purgatory right now,
because the definition of purgatory, andthe Texans know it all too well,
is you're not quite good enough tomake any noise, whether it be
playing or even a playoff appearance atthis point. But you're not bad enough
and or your draft picks aren't goingto be there for you in the case
of the one that's going to okaysee this year, in all likelihood to

do anything about it in the draft. I wouldn't agree with purgatory because I
think if you're in purgatory, ifyou've put yourselves there and you can't get
out. They didn't put themselves therefor multiple years and are banking on some
player that isn't going to be great. And I know that even that statement
there has people shuddering, probably slammingon their brakes and hopefully you're paying attention
to the roads. But it's theyhave all the avenues to not be in

(08:16):
purgatory. Their record suggests you're ina place you don't want to be.
If you're going to be bad andmiss the play in tournament or playoffs,
then you want to be as badas possible and raise those lottery chances from
five point six percent to twenty sixand seven and whatever you can get to.
It makes obviously, it makes perfectsense. And they're they're a kind
of a bad spot in the standings. Although this year's draft is not too

inviting if you ask me, Hopefullyit's inviting to another GM when they put
that deal together. But that's thething. They've got their pick in this
draft, a pick in this year'sdraft because of the Brooklyn trade, and
they have assets in terms of bothplayers and future draft picks. If they
want to make a move, ifthere's a player that clearly wants out,
and there always are, they havethe ability, I think, to do

that. But I believe that ofthat six player corps, they have at
least one star, they might havetwo, and they have multiple players you
could see being on in my opinion, could be on an upper level team.
They got to make sure that theyknow who those guys are and those
guys continue to develop and now weactually get a chance to see it.
It's not like year one of Jalenand Alpern and then year two where we

see nothing and then finally they're runby a realistic coaching staff and we're starting
to see progress. We will seenothing. But with all these players,
I mean, it's to me it'sphenomenal that Amen Thompson and Cam Witmore have
played for only ema Udoka rather thanJabari and Tari and Jalen and Alpern that
spent a year or two years withthe previous coaching staff. And let's be

(09:45):
fair, the OKC Thunder are oneof the best teams in the West and
they're one of the best teams inthe league frankly, and they're gonna get
better. And that's the sad part. Like why I'm I'm so concerned about
the I'm honestly not. It's it'sit's never been about that. I mean,
at the end of the day,gets to be about that, But
when it is, I'm okay withthat. That's exactly what it was for
the Rockets. It wasn't about them. It was about Golden State being in

their way every year or somebody elseand that's the unfortunate part. But I
didn't care. In the big picture, you're winning fifty games, you're winning
sixty five games that you've built achampionship team. You just might not win
a championship. So I don't careif oka See gets gets good or gets
better. And they will and you'reright, but it doesn't matter to Houston
until they're a competitor of theirs that'sequal, and then they're not right now,

no, and it's probably not anovernight thing, but they've they will
turn. I think we'll look atthis season as a major building block and
not just the record I hope,which will be significantly better guaranteed, But
it's about how they play. LikeI like the fact that people complain about
what kind of offensive set is that? Or why is this happen? They're
real basketball complaints, not what arethey doing out there? They play good

defense for most of the most ofthe night, most of the nights.
And you know, last night wasa matchup of the best three point shooting
team in the NBA and the bestthree point shooting defensive team in the NBA.
Well, they won the match up. They hit seventeen of their thirty
five threes and beat down the Rocket'spretty good. So one of the items
that obviously sends us into the lastthree games against only Oklahoma City and Phoenix,

a five game stretch of only OklahomaCity and Phoenix. It goes back
to the table tomorrow night against OKCand then the rest of the road trip
takes them to Phoenix. Today wasa road game for the Astros, so
very few regulars were involved, butwe'll give you a little heads up on
what took place there over the weekend. And today we got an update on

number thirty five. So you knowthat's a staple of our spring training era
programming. I love it all throughoutthe late stages of this month and throughout
almost an entire month of March,we get to give you a JV update,
and we will do that when wecome back here on the A team.

called that two weeks ago. I'mlike, Man, I guess I thought

our lack of broadcasting games, youand I individually, it's not gonna be
much of a tongue twister because wejust don't say it normally. When you
are an in game broadcast or TVor radio, you often mention where you
are playing. That's gonna take alittle getting used to. But I was
actually just watching Travis's ceremonial first pitchto launch the new name of the ballpark,

plus the cutting of the ribbon.He threw the pitch. He first
of all, he came out,black jacket, black pants, black tank,
and lots of ice, super shiny, super awesome. He was definitely
dripped out. And then he wentout to the mound took the jacket off,
so he could, you know,like the baseball players that don't want
to be restricted by these awesome newNike Vapor jerseys, he didn't want to

be restricted by his blazer, hisjacket, so he took that off and
he set up on the mound,not on the rubber, but on the
mound, and he can, mindyou, this was over the weekend when
they opened their home portion of theseason. The day after they played on
the exact same field as the roadteam. Yes, he threw the pitch,
and it was just it was gooddistance. The catcher had to lean

over. It was a Nationals player, and he leaned over and caught it
in the left handed batter's box.But he didn't have to stand up.
He didn't have some great play.And it's definitely not gonna make the fitty
sent John Wall and others infamy ofmy gosh, you're an athlete and this
is what you can do with abaseball. Jeez, please. So it
was certainly I mean, I mean, you tell Curtis he's not an athlete,

and then see how we respond.I'll show him the video of his
first pitch and then I'll see howhe responds. Those other athletes are I'm
like, I seriously cannot believe thisis real. But it was good enough
that as he was coming off themount, he was obviously very hyped.
He was screaming, he swung atit, sit down. It was awesome.
But nonetheless, over the weekend wegot because we weren't with you since

Friday. We were here Friday forour normal show and we are back here
on Monday for our normal show.So in between, it's oftentimes really getting
you caught up with your JV update, and we'd love to do that for

So take you over the weekend.What took place over the weekend when
manager Joe A. Spot A caughtup with the assembled media to give an
update on his picture and what didhe say? So, he's gonna go
no throw for a week. Hecame in and inflammation was down, but

we're just gonna, you know,be safe and we we're gonna reevaluate him
in a week. Nah, that'sjust a joke. That's the Forest Whitley
update. That's the Forest Whitley update. I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that
too. If it's true, ForestWhitley does have some finger inflammation, they're
gonna shut them down for about aweek and then they're gonna reevaluate they're being
very very cautious with us. Nowto the actual JV update from Joe Aspata

over the weekend. He's going tobe a light day today, and you
know the goal is for JV nexttime he gets on the mound probably you
know, just increases intensity and seeif we could just start mapping out maybe
place some light hitters. That's apoint a possibility for him. I'm not
gonna speculate on that, you know. I think the next bullpen the next
few days will determine that. Doesn'twant to speculate on opening GAG because that's

our job and we have already speculatedthat he will not be ready. That
that update with Brian McTaggert and theassembled media that remains there in Fla throughout
camp was from yesterday's availability. Today'savailability provided to this from Joe as he
said it would be a light dayyesterday. The anticipation is for Verlander tomorrow,

that is Tuesday, to throw anotherbullpen and increase the intensity as he
moves forward in his rehab. Andif you caught up with our good friend
Chandler Rome on the Athletic where hepens his articles and he joins us each
week Wednesday's usually at five o'clock.He had a lot more from Verlander,
saying the same things. Things havegone in the right direction. Progress,

progress is being made. Where it'sgoing is what you'd hope to see.
But if you were watching or listeningto the games over the weekend, they
also you know, Josh Miller andothers were talking about the situation, which
to me was obvious the day hesaid he was a couple weeks back.
Well, if he said all thistwo or three weeks before spring training and
he was trying to get restarted,then that would be fine. Spring training

isn't twenty weeks long. Makes itvery difficult to make up a couple of
weeks when you only have a coupleof weeks. So the idea that he
would be ready for spring training neverentered my mind, and it shouldn't matter
to people. It's like any otherinjury of significance. He's going to miss
time or he's not going to beat his best. When would you like
that to occur? If you feellike you have any control over it,

no rush, take your time.Come back when you can pick me to
have an April in the first inthe day on the day that he would
have been starting, if you wantto look at it that way. Yeah,
I mean roughly thirty games into theseason is where they will be when
they hit May. And last yearhe ended up pitching in the thirty second
game of the year for the Mets. But again there was a definitive termed

we found this, you got hurthere injury. In his case, he
continues to work and continues to makeprogress in a way that suggests, at
least to the non doctor that's talkingto you right now, there's no injury.
There's no problem. This is purelytiming. He's not going to make
five spring training appearance. He's notgoing to ramp up as normal unless they

tell us something different, unless hefeels something different, unless something occurs.
This is just that this is atiming issue. When we start getting the
Lance mccolors esquebs though, that's whenyou can start panic. Well, the
good news is Lance, and Iknow this is not against Lance. This
is any picture during the regular season. If Lance is going through a rehab
program and is throwing, unless Ieat, sleep, and drink at minute

made Park or his personal workout facility, I'm not going to see it.
But we're at spring training. He'sgoing to work on the spring training fields.
You're going to see it, andthey're going to tell you about it.
We actually are part of watching thisunfold. So that's why I don't
think it's any kind of you knowwhat's going on here? Go to our
last segment. You have you beenwatching Tarry Easton ramp up his workouts.

No, it's a little bit moreof a dark situation. I mean,
I was able to walk up tothe guy and ask him when he was
coming back, but he had aboutas good an answer as anybody else I
could have. And keep in mind, he said things that just turned out
to not be true. They weren'ta lie, but he didn't know what
was going to happen in the future. And that's guy's well, it's based
on how he's progressing, right,and Lances has fallen to that as well.

Has nothing to do with the individual, has nothing to do with the
comments that he's making because they're onpoint and they're accurate. He's more frustrated
than all of us come by theway, So again I don't I definitely
there's no panic Bush button at allon JV. I don't care that he
misses a Yankee series, I don'tcare if he misses twenty thirty games.
That stuff doesn't It doesn't FaZe me. With this team, they're not on
such a oh my gosh. Withouthim, they're sunk. They's played almost

an entire season without him, andthe guy that got back isn't even the
as the kids say him, versionof Justin Verlander. He's a top starter.
He's a front end of the rotationstarter. He probably will get zero
votes on anybody's ballot for the CyYoung Award this year or year in the
top five. If he does,that would be unimpressive. But to me,

that is a huge prize. Ifthat actually happened and he was one
of the five best American League pitchersthis year, I mean by Rangers,
by most of the American League.You're sunk if that happens. Yeah,
And look, I hope there's apleasant surprise with one or both of Lance
McCullers and Luis Garcia. I don'tthink there will be, not at this

point anyways. But well, whilewe're at it, don't you want to
hear about JP France from Joe Aspota? Yes? Maybe one more side,
a really good side but his firstidea that they looked really good and sharpened.

but pretty good money to remain ina Chicago Cub the first of the Boris
four, like the Fantastic four,except not even close to get a deal
this offseason, so he only misseda handful of day as a Cubs camp.
He's obviously familiar with some of thethings the Cubs liked to do.
I would say he's familiar with hisuniform, but nobody in Major League Baseball
is familiar with their uniform because ofthe awesome changes that have been made.

But nonetheless, he finds a homeand he can now go back to.
Well, the answer to that questionshould be really fun for the Cubs to
find out what will he go backto? Will he go back to what
he did as a Cub or willhe go back to what he was before

and the other Boris clients. Beforewe get to Alex Bregman's situation and some
of the stuff he had to say. He was on a Baseball Tonight podcast

his agent's situation with Houston. Maybethe next client is ready to sign a

deal, and that could be JordanMontgomery. We know where he was all
too well, unfortunately. I'm surethe Yankees know where he used to be.
I'm sure the Cardinals knew where heused to be. But it looks
like there's a possibility that a differentAmerican League East team will be the team
that says, here you go,Monty, come pitch for us. And
again it'll be about the money.The Rangers have put a pause on their
major spending. It's pretty fair tosay they've spent plenty of money. They're

paying Seeger, they're paying to Gram, they're paying Simeon, and maybe it's
just at some point enough was enough. No one says they're out of it,
but it certainly doesn't feel like he'sgoing to sign there if it's been
this long, and other teams arestill talking deals with him, the Red
Sox being one of them, andthey're not. But I couldn't let this
little, you know how our goodfriends over in the TV business. Usually

I've heard his name many times,and I have never seen him in before

What's the team that you think inthe ala Austin? Oh okay,

I didn't know which one you were. I mean, there was reports today
that they've will continue to engage inconversations. Their payroll suggests. Again,
I wouldn't exactly say they're going forit, because their rosters suggest they have
the fourth best team, fifth bestteam in the division, which is if
you're fifth, you can't go tothe playoffs. But I do think they
usually spend money and try to youknow, after they unloaded all these players

over the last handful of years.I think they're willing to be that team.

there's definitely no doubt Jamal Shed shouldbe the MVP of college basketball. It's
the best player award, and maybesome people would vote otherwise because of that.

We've all seen it in college basketball. Happens every now and then on the
grid iron, on the college landscape, kids painting their faces, not getting
and some entities, some conferences,some legislating bodies have said, we really
cannot have this anymore. It's justnot right, it's unsafe. We can't
have you storm in the court,we can't have you storm in the field.

You can yell overrated, which alsodoesn't make sense. After you've just
beaten them, you're now saying they'renot as good, so your wind means
less. But that's okay. Butyeah, we saw some court stormings in
the last several years that have resultedin unwonted consequences. The danger of the
players on the court is and it'snot even always the opposing players. There's
just too many people that don't belongon the court on the court, and

so you've had some conferences step forwardand institute penalties for it, which has
obviously slowed it or completely ended it. And you've had instances where, you
know, Matt Painter talked about it, the Purdue coach earlier this year,
that we're idiots for just waiting forsomething even worse to happen. It's it's
going to because we keep allowing theseplayers that are have just lost and are

trying. All they're trying to dois either get to the handshake line or
get off the court. And thesecollege students, that's the majority of who's
running on the court or out ofcontrol and feeling very very very courageous because
there's so many of them that theycan kind of do whatever they wanted.
It happens far too often. It'skind of the same thing that kind of
social media has created, this eraof confidence that doesn't belong there. So

court storming is is, it's dangerous, it's very very simple, and it's
not very well policed literally from security. We saw Caitlin Clark get bumped earlier
this year after a game. Andit's teams that bring in it's just because
they're good. Duke's a great exampleof that. When you're in a conference
with a few teams for a numberof years, because now there's a bunch

of teams in their conference they don'thave rivalries with. But Wake Forest beats
them this weekend. You know,has a couple point lead, four point
lead late, and everybody knows what'scoming. And if you missed it,
there was a player and college studentincident on the court, to the point
that that player had to be helpedoff the court by his coach and some
other staff members. And he's apretty good player. And this is what

he had to say. He hadto say about it after the game.
The player involved in basically getting runinto and taunted and yapped at by the
opposing fans. If you've seen it, you can debate whether or not he
also initiated anything with these on rushingplayers. But here's what he had to
say. All hell goes crazy,and you know, you've got these crazy

cousites just doing whatever they want,and you know, it's just gotta be
at gotta be a little more protectivewhen things like that happened. So I
absolutely feel like it was personal,you know, intentional for sure. You
know, like I said, there'sthere's no reason where they see a big

work around me. You know,there's no excuse for that. No,
everyone was just waiting for the momentand they did what they did. Do

further away from the Heat bench andcloser and closer to the Pelicans bench.

the seven foot big for the Heat, who was not in the game at
the time, and they began talkingto each other, and the more you
watch, it didn't even seem likeit was rising to some level of anything
