(00:00):
We're in the major leagues. Hereon Sports Talk seven to ninety time for
the eight Teams Major League Baseball twentytwenty four Prediction show last fifteen minutes or
longer it's been out quickly we getto everything. We'll start with the hard
core stuff, and then we willget to the lower core stuff, the
more fun stuff that I have foryou guys to enjoy. Dan back here

(00:20):
with us here on the eight team. We need your six playoff participants from
the respective leagues, including the divisionwinners who will be the top two seeds,
and obviously the wild cards, yourchampionship series matchups, and the ultimate
champion of baseball. The defending champion, unfortunately, is the Texas Rangers.
I'll make a quick, bold predictionthat zero of three of us, plus

(00:42):
every single person listening to the show, even you and Arlington on the iHeartRadio
app, none of us will protectpredict a repeat championship for the Arlington Rangers.
But I will begin, and I'llgive you my American and National League
playoff teams over in the other league, the league they used to be in,
now dominate this one. Not muchsurprise, Dodgers, Braves, Cubs

(01:03):
will win their respected divisions. HyCubs, welcome to the playoffs. The
Phillies, Giants, and Jordan Montgomery'steam, the Arizona Diamondbacks. They will
be participating in the postseason. TheDodgers and Braves regular seasons will go as
expected. They will be the toptwo seeds in the National League. Dan,

(01:25):
I'm gonna go with the Reds inthe Central. I think the Reds
have the pitching and they've got areally good young offense there, so I
like Cincinnati to be able to takethe Central. Braves in the East,
I'm gonna go with the Dodgers inthe West. Wild cards are the Cubs,
Cardinals, and Phillies. Ellie daCruz yesterday, by the way,
he has been working very hard.He was joking about it with reporters yesterday

(01:49):
right before the season began. Fullinterview completely in English, as he is
working hard to said, I wantthe fans to get to know me.
I want my teammates to be moreinvolved in that. And he said he
basically learned obviously with the help ofhis interpreter who he like. Show Hey
kicked to the curve yesterday but saidhe's you know, it's it's really a

(02:09):
health bank account, being in hisclubhouses where he's really gotten the most help,
and trying to forward his ability tocommunicate in not his first language.
And man, he is a funplayer to watch. We got to see
him here at Minute May Park lastyear. That is what's fun among the
many things about baseball. Your predictions. All right, we're doing National League
only right here. I'm assuming, yeah, you just follow what we did

(02:30):
and then you do this one.I wasn't. I wasn't completely listening at
that point. There's a lot ofactivity around here, and I recognized by
a few people, but man, nobody, Okay, can I get a
picture? He ac man, loveyou, buddy. Man. I can't
wait for those videos. Ud comeon out of here. Man, I'm
trying to half pay attention. Ipay full attention. You've been the great
Sylvia from our office. Just dropby so she is in line with everybody

(02:54):
else. Got to have a caricature, got to have an astros character.
This is quite. They didn't havethis. You're just quite the booth over
here. Have I ever told youno one? No one can draw me.
I've had that done that I watched. It happened not more than a
month ago over at the Rockets Fiesta. Really with you and t really well,

(03:14):
a caricature might be all that much. Yeah, they they Drew,
John Travolta and Theresa. It wasweird. I thought it was really good.
Okay, just look just like you. All right, here we go,
National League West the Dodgers. Notvery controversial, but I too,
so say that again. Who isAdam Planting predicting to win the National League
West? The Dodgers? And thenI just wanted to have that for future
necessary. No, it doesn't matterwhat they do during the regular it doesn't

(03:38):
matter. They're gonna flame out inthe postseason like they always do. I
too, along with Dan and pickingthe Reds in the Central all right,
good luck for you both. Itcould be trendy, Yeah, very trendy.
Or it could Plaine appreciates you believingin his team despite the extended absence.
He'll now be on and I'm withyou. My other non controversial division
winner pick in the National League willbe the Ras taking the East, Wild

(04:01):
Cards, Diamondbacks, Giants, andCubs. Okay, okay, now hit
the league that matters. You gottastart it here, all right. I
will go with uh oh, yeah, the Houston Astros winning. They're predicting
the Houston Astros question again, yesagain, just like I did last year,
and it was never a doubt.Astros, West Twins, the Central

(04:26):
Sorry Tigers and AJ and uh theOrioles. The Baltimore Orioles, a very
and I mean very terrifying squad that'sonly gonna get better. They remind me,
what's the word? What's the alignedfrom the movie? They remind me
of, Oh, yes, me, that's what the Astros are saying to
the Baltimore Orioles organization right now,I think unquestionably, So, Dan,

(04:47):
what do you got. I'm gonnago with the Orioles in the East,
the Detroit Tigers in the Central Itold you, and I'm gonna go with
the Astros in the West. Wildcards. Gonna go with the two t
teams that were neck and neck withthe Astros again last year, both Rangers
and Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. I didn't give my wild cards,

(05:08):
but those are also the exact threeI picked, Rangers, Blue Jays,
Mariners, So correct me if I'mwrong. I was two thirds listening.
Uh huh. Did anybody yet saythe team playing the Astros will be in
the postseason. Oh, that's bydesign. They're not making the postseason this
year, and it's gonna be soglorious to watch that fan base just lose

(05:29):
its mind again. Brian Cashman willbe fired before the twenty fourth season is
over, whether it be postseason orin the middle of it. I actually
agree with that, though. Ido have the Yankees as one of the
three wild left. Yes, Rangersand Mariners will join them in the wildcard
race, which obviously means I too, like you two, have the Astros
winning the division once again. Theywill be the two seed, the Orioles

(05:49):
are the one seed, and CarlosCorrea's fourth team, the Minnesota Twins,
will be He had two teams he'splayed for the Astros, the Mets,
the Giants and the two. No, he's only played for two of those.
Uh, they will also win theirdivision. I have zero, so
this will definitely be wrong. Zeroupsets on the way to the championship series

(06:12):
for each league one and two versusone and two Orioles, Astros, Braves,
Dodgers. I don't think I yeah, I guess yeah. I just
have the the Astros and the Bravesas your league champions. I didn't really,
I didn't really think they would beatdon't. Yeah, you don't have
to worry about reading these. Itdoesn't matter. Fine, Yeah you don't.

(06:33):
It's it's totally fine. It doesn'tmatter. It's talk for me too,
all right, and then your champion. Come on, So the Braves,
Dodgers, Rangers. I didn't hearyou. Did anybody not pick the
Astros. It's gonna be the teamin orange, and you guys know it.
Believe me, They're gonna win theWorld Series again. I have Astros

(06:54):
over Braves, meaning the Dodgers willonce again find a way even with Shohey
and Yamamoto and Tyler Glass Now andMookie Bets and Freddie Freeman, to not
participate and get another World Series. That picture is outstanding. Otani bets.
Yes, I bet Otani is goingto be really sad that he again has
a disappointing season. I would ventureto wager the same thing Astros exact revenge

(07:16):
for twenty twenty one. They doit in five games, they celebrate at
Truest Park. I don't want themdoing that there, though, Dan they
did it here like they did ithere, and I had to hear about
it, so we're gonna do itthere. I like the Braves losing to
the Astros, but I just assoon it happened here. Plus I think
the Braves are good enough to wearit. We get to a sixth or
seventh contest, all right, thefun stuff comes next, your wildest,

(07:39):
boldest Major League Baseball prediction. Weplay your Astros, which will be higher
and who's on an award winning Astro? And I'll explain that when we come
back on the other side here onthe A Team live for a minute by
park. We are at streak Ft. Appreciate our friends over quality home products
for making our broadcast. Our precedingbroadcast are Astros coverage here on opening day

(08:01):
possibility, And we are here atstreet Fest in advance of the game.
Astros fans as far as the eyecan see. And yes, unfortunately a
smattering of Judge jerseys, and there'sa Roger Clemens jersey could have won an
Astros jersey. I saw a Rodhere earlier, the not owner of the
Minnesota Timberwolves, which is hilarious. But that's for another day because it's all

(08:22):
baseball, all the time. Aswe finish off, are let's have fun
with the upcoming Major League season. We're going off the rails here. First
thing I need before we get toyour wildest, boldest MLB prediction, hook
me up with an astro. Pickany Astros player your best bet to win
an individual award, a Cy Younga Rookie of the Year, something like

(08:45):
that, or be the league leader, a statistical title, a batting champion,
a hit king, the stolen baseking, whatever the case. Just
give me one Astro and what awardor title he will win. Ac Oh,
well, I'm gonna go with AlexBregman because if I'm on the hype
train last season, what's he gonnado? Uh get? He'll get some

(09:07):
sort of Let's go with the goldglove. Okay, that's a very reasonable
prediction. Since the guy who's usuallyin his way is a National leaguer Matt
Chapman sliding over to the Giants.Time is now. That is a very
strong chance to come true. Whatdo you got, Dan, I'm gonna
give you two for the price ofone because I like you that much.
Wex Jordan on Alvarez is your homerun leader for the American League at least

(09:28):
forty five home runs. As amatter of fact, he homers today.
The second one, Diez is anAll Star. Yeah, makes the All
Stars. And in baseball it's notthe All Star Games. They don't have
a throw it through the whole competitionbe Carnival games actually play an exhibition game,
so he would get to put onthe gear and maybe step up to
the plate, probably during a commercialsince he plays for the Astros. But

(09:52):
that's a very good couple of predictions. I'm gonna take the lazy route and
definitely be right. Okay, Ithink Jordan Alvarez is gonna win the Silver
Slugger. That is that's something lazy. It's just it's a it's a safe
all right, that's the word.Moving on, yep, just give me
some outlandish, wild, bold predictionfor Major League Baseball this season. A

(10:18):
team, a player, a commissioner, an otani, a Presley is going
to take over the closer's role forthe Astros. Whatever, Well, do
you mean to be mean or doyou mean to be really mean? I
want you to be yourself. Soyou want to be really mean? Well,
like Dan, I'll do both.I'll give you two for the price
of one. Mean would be thatI think Aaron Judge will once again miss

(10:41):
significant time for a soft tissue injury. So Bold, Well, it's kind
of safe, like you said, but I'll tell you the really mean one.
A doles Garcia gets popped. Yeah, I wish there are Rangers fans
out here so they could have heardme say that. But y'all know you're
thinking it. Let me tell youif if Rangers fans deep down had truth
serum injected into them, they knowthey're waiting on that headline any day.

(11:05):
Oh, we knew it was toogoo to be true, that this pencil,
that geek I'll turn into this freakthat hits home runs all the time.
We knew it was too good tobe true. Well, it is
Rangers fans just like your World serieslast year the one hit wonder. So
it's gonna happen sooner rather than later, all right, Dan set out landish?
Yes, I did so the goodSo the Astros were in the market
for Blake Snow right, Yes,So now the ideal scenario is probably the

(11:28):
trade deadline. The Minnesota Twins aregonna be out of it. At the
trade deadline, the Astros will pulloff a trade to get Pablo Lopez,
who has two more years after thisseason of club control. Making a twenty
one point seventy five million per you'regonna have Justin Berlander likely roll off the
books. You're gonna be in themarket looking for somebody to fill that void.

(11:50):
Pablo Lopez, he's under team control. He will be an astro at
the trade deadline. I have toask you, though, who are you
giving up for a non rental? For a non rent You're gonna have to
give up a ton. So that'sprobably Spencer Eric Ketty, that's probably Jacob
Melton, that's probably Joey lo Berfdopeople like that? But I was already
vomiting after the first name parades.I like Spencer parades over prospects. Brother,

(12:13):
Okay, Pablo Lopez hoping to participatein his first ever parade. Maybe
he had one in his hometown sometime. Maybe he played little League. I
don't know. I kind of thoughtyou were headed in the same direction I
was. It's Boris related. Amajor Boris client, a recent signing,
someone who is a Boris client thatassigned a deal and free agency over the

(12:39):
last two plus years will be tradedat the deadline. A lot of these
opt out guys, A lot ofthese disappointed guys. We're gonna end up
in a situation where I know they'renot gonna resign me. They know they're
not gonna resign me because they knowI'm gonna opt out and we're not winning,
and so they're gonna throw that monkeywrench at Scott Boris and see what
he can do with that, andsee which two teams took up. I'm

(13:01):
selfishly wanting names. Oh, Ithink that if the Giants, so a
lot of us do think, aregonna make the playoffs, end up in
a situation where they're not going anywherewith the Snell and Chapman possibilities. I
think Jordan Montgomery is gonna be perfectlyhappy winning a lot of games going to
the playoffs for the one year Deallysigned with the d Back. So it's
probably not gonna be him. Butthose guys, guys over any and any

(13:24):
other season, are in the mix. But I'd put those two guys first.
Now the astro stuff, Just tellme which is going to be higher
in twenty twenty four. Jeremy Payneyour home runs or Hunter Brown victories?
Oh my goodness, how many doyou hit? Two years ago? Two
years ago he had popped for twentyplus and last year was ten and Brown

(13:46):
won eleven games last year. Thatis tough. I mean, I'm going
the high level for Brown is fifteen. I mean, and that's not to
say that it's bad starts. It'sjust there's a lot of no decisions.
They're sure that Jeremy Panya's gonna hitfifteen or more home runs. I said
that Jeremy Penia could be a twentytwenty five guy this year. It's okay
if either one of you want toanswer the question. That's what I said.

(14:07):
Don't you know what you said,Jeremy Penia, you I will.
This is tough. That's the point. I got five more. I'm gonna
go. You know what, I'mgonna go Penya because I've seen It's not
that I haven't seen it out fromHunter, but I've seen enough from Penya's

(14:30):
resume to know that somewhere in thereis not the guy that we saw for
the most part last year and theguy who were still waiting to go over
the fence since July. He'll doit on this homestand is my prediction.
Thus wowna make it three for threeall right, which will be higher Hater
saves or Tucker home runs. Hatersaves easy, He's forty forty five.

(14:54):
I would be shocked if Josh Haterhad forty five saves. Absolutely floored,
but more than a very reasonable answer, which would be his top number ever.
So I'm gonna go. I'm gonnago. I'm gonna go, Hater.
Yeah, I do think it's aneasy answer, but I'm not expecting

(15:16):
the number to be quite so high. The Astros team leader in hits the
number or Framber Valdez innings pitched. He dipped just under two hundred last year.
They had one hundred and sixty threehits as their team leader last year.
He answers, bounces back. Ithink that's all. Robber bounces back,

(15:39):
a fairly easy answer. That kindof like Panya somewhere in there as
the guy that from twenty twenty twoand not the guy that we saw in
twenty twenty three. All Right,I don't know if you're researching this or
not, damn, but that's notrequired. No, I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna I'm gonna go. I'lltoo, Bade the hit leader and over
two hundred, that would be alsovery very shocking. Would help answer the

(16:00):
question will he get to three thousandhits if he has another two hundred hit
season last year almost missing half theseason where he was unbelievable. Last year
in ninety games, he was incredible, So that would be awesome. About
Diaz Homers, Yaner di As homersor Tucker stolen bases? Tygo Tucker?

(16:22):
Yeah, Tuck stolen base He wantedthat thirty thirty bad last year. And
they, as Joe Espott has said, they're gonna be running a lot more
this year. So yes, atthe bases are still bigger. There's that
too. Yet to disagree on anyof these yet, Presley saves or Tucker
triples. Presley saves, Yeah,I'll go Presley saves. It's the safer

(16:44):
pick, but it's it's just morerealists, and it's also too you prolong
that bullpen. I mean, youwant these guys to be as fresh as
possible. If you've had hater goa couple of days in a row,
then that's Ryan Presley in there, that's Brian. I mean, Tucker's not
slow, but he ain't fast. They had five triples last year. Obviously,
Presley's third one saves as the closer, it's not a worthwhile. Number
two and last, Astro's team GrandSlams or combined wins for Luis Garcia and

(17:12):
Lance mccullors junior. Oh my gosh, you put some thought into that one.
They hit ten Grand Slams as ateam last year. And remember we're
like, oh my god, arethey hitting another and another and another?
Can I get a little bit ofhelp on this? Sure? Sure,
provided the two pitchers come back rightaround the same time. I mean,

(17:32):
I'm not a gambling venue. I'mnot gonna give you. You're not gonna
let you get your ticket back.Let's just say, like what we've heard
is that August for both of them, right, give or take, they
should be pitching major League bas getwell, I mean, that's why it's
a difficult question to answer. Let'ssay they get it starts each Okay,
that's a tiny number, but atleast you gave me a number. Then
they have to win some of thesegames. That's also a tiny number.

(17:55):
If their offense is it's still kindof floky that you hit Wookie. You've
got one of the best offenses inbaseball. According yeah fraud like the Rangers.
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna gothe wins, but it's also though
too. This is finally for LanceMcCullers, where he realizes my best bet
at prolonging my career is at leastthe bullpen for right now. There you

(18:18):
have it. Baseball season has arrived. So has the two o'clock hour.
