In these verses we understand that we are in a spiritual battle for our minds—that our thoughts affect our feelings that affect our actions that affect our impact that affect our thoughts. We must take our thoughts captive and replace them with Gospel reality.

SouthCrest Church Sunday message, 3/29/26. Senior Pastor Matt McFadden concludes our Ecclesiastes journey, Under the Sun, in Ecclesiastes 12:1-14. In these verses the Preacher summarizes that, while all our striving under the sun is vanity, the conclusion of his search is this: the whole purpose of all humankind is to fear God and to keep His commandments.

Chasing after wisdom as an impenetrable shield against the pain of life is vanity, but gaining wisdom as protection while trusting God’s sovereignty is good.

In this chapter we discover the vanity in wealth: the pursuit of it leads to emptiness and ruin, but finding joy in our work in pursuit of the Kingdom leads to wealth sufficient for fulfilling God’s will for our lives.
