The gospel saves us into a new family called the church, where we learn how to intentionally relate to one another and wisely care for one another, in order to strengthen the church and advance the gospel. From 1 Tim. 5:1-16. 

The church isn’t just a gathering - it’s the household of the living God, called to hold up the truth of the gospel. Paul invites the church to reject false teaching, train for godliness, and live with a public mission. Rooted in the finished work of Jesus, we pursue lives shaped by truth, disciplined devotion, and love for the world. From 1 Tim. 3:14–4:16

Paul offers a vision of how men and women are meant to flourish together in the family of God. In a complex and often controversial passage, we’re invited not to pick sides, but to pursue unity, humility, and obedience to Jesus above all else. From 1 Tim. 2:8-15.

What if prayer isn’t passive, but our greatest weapon? Paul calls us to wage the good warfare, resist drifting toward shipwreck, and pray for all people—even those we’re tempted to criticize. We do so anchored in the good news that Jesus is our mediator and ransom. From 1 Timothy 2:1–7.

The mercy of Jesus doesn’t just forgive our past. In Paul we see it overflows with grace, faith, and love—turning even the worst of who we were into a living testimony of God’s patience and power. From 1 Timothy 1:12-20. 

Paul urges Timothy to guard the gospel—not out of fear or control, but out of love. In a culture drawn to speculation and secondary issues, Paul clarifies that sound doctrine exists to form a people shaped by grace, truth, and a love committed to others’ highest good over the long haul. From 1 Timothy 1:3-11. 

Paul anchors the life of the church in one unshakable reality: Christ Jesus, our hope. From Him flow grace, mercy, and peace as we learn to live together as God’s family. From 1 Timothy 1:1-2. 

As we close our study of Proverbs, we turn to the posture that makes wisdom possible: being instructable. Scripture shows us that wisdom is formed through openness, correction, and earnest application—long before the outcomes are visible. A wise life is shaped upstream, as we learn to receive God’s instruction as an act of love. Guest teacher: Jack Holmes

As Summit marked 15 years, we reflected on how God’s wisdom shapes a life over time—and has shaped the life of our community. Proverbs reminds us to trust the Lord with all our hearts and follow Him into the great adventure we were made for.

Building on the beginning of wisdom, Proverbs 3 shows us how life with God is formed over time, one step at a time. Trusting the Lord with all our heart and walking in humility and honesty shapes a path that sustains us and leads us into the joy we were made for.

As we begin a new year, the book of Proverbs invites us into a different kind of pursuit—not just better habits, but deeper wisdom. We explore how taking knowing God seriously, learning to love what He loves, and opening our lives to His Spirit leads to a life that truly enjoys Him. From Proverbs 1. 

At Christmas, it’s easy to know the story and still miss its meaning. This night draws us back to the heart of it all: God coming near to us, entering our world to be known, to save, and to bring joy where fear once lived. From Luke 2. 

The trust and faithfulness we saw in Ruth 3 are carried forward as Boaz and Ruth choose to honor God through ordinary obedience, lived out openly among their community. The story that began with famine and three funerals ends with a restored family and a child in the line of King David—opening into the greater story God was writing, fulfilled in Jesus. Risk sits at the center of Ruth and Boaz’s story. As a plan turns into a proposal and a promise, we’re reminded that walking with God often means trusting Him into the unknown—where He meets us with redeeming love. From Ruth 3.

Small, ordinary decisions open the door to God’s quiet providence. In their first encounter, Ruth receives unexpected kindness through Boaz, and Naomi begins to hope again. It’s a glimpse of the Redeemer who welcomes outsiders and restores dignity in hidden ways. From Ruth 2.

Ruth opens with a family running from famine and finding deeper loss. In the dark and disorienting aftermath, God invites Naomi and Ruth to turn back—to trust that He meets us even when hope feels thin. This turning becomes the first step toward redemption. From Ruth 1.

Judges ends with two unsettling stories that show the cost of a life disconnected from God. At the same time, the book quietly points us toward hope as God continues to pursue and restore those who return to Him. As we move into Advent, we turn our eyes to the King we have been waiting for. From Judges 17-21.

Samson’s life unravels as small compromises accumulate until he can no longer see what’s true. But in his return, we see a God who steps into our ruins with mercy and restores the repentant. From Judges 16. 

Anger isn’t always wrong, but left unchecked it deceives, blinds, and destroys. While Samson’s story shows where it can lead, in Jesus' we learn a better way. From Judges 15.
