Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, Killy Nash. Hey there, it's tomorrow show today. Yes,
all right, so we're expecting a guest to come in
in a minute. They have big news.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Yeah, great news for Columbia.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Between now and then, we have a couple of things
to share with you, including opportunities for big concerts in Columbia.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah. We've been talking about the Cane Brown concert and
that's going to be huge. And when it gets here
to the Colonial Life Arena with Mitchell Tenpenny and Ashley Cook.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Great, great tickets we're given.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Away absolutely now if you want to win the tickets
tomorrow we always play what you're talking about around six
point thirty and Jonathan will tell you what number caller
to be. But the question and the answer around the
Morning Rush Blog at ninety seven to five w COS
dot com. I have not looked it up. I've not
got the actual pronunciation. So I am taking a stab

(00:52):
at the pronunciation.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
And I have not looked it up. I have not
looked at the word. I'm taking a stab of the.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Definition interlocutor interlocutor, and that's spelled I n t E
r l O c u t o r intolocutor.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
That is someone who drifts in and out of your
life an into laocuter.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
You know, not a bad guess. I mean that's very
close to what we're.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
It's a sexual reference.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Oh no, it was not an hour. Now you've gotten
further away. You were warm. Uh So it's all participants
in a conversation. So tomorrow you and I will be
the interlocuurturs, and then when we get the winner on
the phone, they will also become an interlocuurtor. So we

(01:41):
have like you know, ten people chit chatting all you
intola courturs. Get back to your desk tomorrow. Another welcome
my inter.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah, we're gonna have to we have to seriously get
the defin the pronunciation of this one, because I'm gonna use.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
It a lot just to sound like it a big
brain thinkers. You know, the super Bowl's coming and we're
gonna have all kinds of special deals. I didn't know
about this, Jonathan, but now thank you to people who
By the way, it's like everybody's now watching the super Bowl,
so they're expecting well over one hundred million viewers in

(02:17):
the US for the super Bowl. And here's possibly the
best news. I mean, I got all the deals here Outback, Steakhouse,
Firehouse Subs. All these types of people are offering specials
and you can get them all on the Morning Rush
blog at ninety seven five WCS dot com. But here's
what we're all pulling for as Americans. You want this
game to go into overtime, and I think it's supposed

(02:40):
to be a pretty close game it is, so if
it goes into overtime, Buffalo Wild Wings is offering free
chicken wings to all Americans. They are betting that the
Super Bowl will not go into overtime. If it does
go into overtime, just show up on Monday, I guess,

(03:01):
and you'll get free chicken wings at Buffalo Wild Wings.
So how is not all of America just watching? This
is a hell of a bit. Yep, Smoothie King's got
specials for you, like the Firehouse Subs, Name of the
Day deal free subs on Sunday to guest with names
inspired by football. So if you have like Cooper, Tom, Julian,

(03:22):
Nick Peyton, anybody, you get a free sub. Chipotle's got
the Monday after the super Bowl, with sixteen million employees
are expected to miss work, sixteen million of us are
expected to call in sick on Monday, and so they
have their extra Sunday promotion. So if you're one of
those people who call in sick, show up, they'll give
you a free gualk and caso. That is sick. Another

(03:47):
thing that's happening, Jonathan, And this really I think is
in our wheelhouse because you and I have been maybe
at the forefront, because we've been talking about this for
the twenty years that we've been working together. Kids of
its not even the kids now of this generation. It's
the middle aged people of when we started talking about them,
they were kids. They're too soft. And we don't just

(04:10):
mean emotionally, we mean physically. The children starting in the
nineties were raised as cream puffs. They did not participate
in things that mom and dad knew could be dangerous.
If that activity could hurt you, we're not going to
allow you to participate in it. And now what we're

(04:31):
seeing are the repercussions of that, and that is apparently
there's a lot of bone issues because they didn't know how,
they didn't pound their bones as children, their bones are weaker.
So you've got like osti porosis flaring up on like
thirty five year olds. They're like their bones are too
weak because they did not run and play and break

(04:54):
and quite honestly break bones. Breaking bones not a bad
thing for children, which is why the lens now has changed.
The government has come out and said, we want your
kids to take risks. Another part of this is figuring
out calculated risks. If you're a child, you learn after

(05:14):
by trial and error, yes, that jump is going to
be a little too hard. I can make this jump.
I can't make that jump. And now and apparently several
generations of kids have lost that ability and now as
middle aged people, they're they're lost and problem solving. So
they say this is complete, since this is their this
is we want rough, tough and playing. That's what that's

(05:37):
their words. We want rough tumble playings. If your child
gets hurt or ends up in the hospital, that's okay.
They're resilient, they'll come back.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
We need more backyard football, like we used to play
on the school grounds, full tackle football with no equipment.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
And quite honestly, I think without the equipment that makes
it safer. It's kind of like rugg Yeah, when you're
talking about rugby that lot less concussions. I think our
guest might be out in the hallway.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
The guy who was going to attack you, is it
nearly as aggressive as he is with full pads. That's right,
because he knows that when you go down, he's got
to protect his head too.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Yeah. I'm hurting you as best I can. But I'm
also not hurting myself exactly, which means I'm not really
going to hurt you as much. But yeah, riding bicycles,
trying to do jumps, climbing trees, all of that has
been out of style because mom and dad don't want
to have to go to the hospital. They don't want
to see their little angel hurt.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
And you're right, we have a guest coming in. Remind
me tomorrow to ask you if this fits into the
new millennial category.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
That I saw average new millennial.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I saw this on a commercial for the first time
for new millennial women.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
This is not gen zers. This is the new millennial.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
No, that was described as perfect for new millennial women. Okay,
I have to ask you.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
But I'm excited to hear about the new millennial.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
We can talk about that tomorrow, but we got to
get our guest in here. Well, Kelly Nash must have
had a great weekend. I see you're already making connections
for the Food and Wine Festival.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Oh yeah, Vicky Davis is joining us from the Columbia
Food and Wine Festival, and you're the vice chair and
this is coming up what in April, right, it is.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
But tickets are on sale now and they are selling
out for certain events.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
They absolutely so out.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Thirteen events and six days leading to Sunday's Grand Tasting
of the Columbia Food Wine Vicky.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
You can help me maneuver through this because a lot
of these a lot of these events almost are well,
some of them are happening at the same time. Correct,
the kickoff dinner at the at the Rooster.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
Black Rooster, Yes, chef Christianimi and a James Beard semi
finalist Colorado coming. So yes, you do have to pick
and choose which ones some overlap or you could spend
a two hours at one and then hit the next
spot if you'd like.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Right, So, if I wanted to go, because when we
talk about the festival, this is not a one day
this is a one week event, and like Jonathan said,
there's numerous events happening sometimes at the same time. I'm
different restaurants and so on and so forth. How do
I go about mapping this out? Any suggestions you're the pro.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yes, well, gladly help you with that, but definitely the
website Columbia Food and Wine Festival, and we really have
something for everyone, So you decide there's something for history lovers,
something for book lovers, and of course the collaborations between
different shifts and mixologists and spirits that might might also

(08:28):
appeal to you.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
Oh wow, yeah, because picking out these events with Sally
see I'm all in, I'm all in and all of them.
But Sally's not a big drinker, so the mixology thing
is not going to appeal to her. And she's funny.
She says, I do not like fish entrees, but every
time that we go to a restaurant where I don't

(08:49):
get the fish because we're eating out, we don't ever
cook fish at home, she'll end up eating some of
my entree because she ends up loving it. So when
you look at the availability of the restaurant and some
of the things you're talking about, and you do that
on the web page, then you can kind of map
it out to make it an individual process or individual
selection for the night.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
That's right. So Hampden Street Vineyard of course French theme,
black rooster, Italian theme. But we do have something for
those that do not drink on Saturday, King pong and pasta.
This is I'm already matails, mottails.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
This is a one to five event with ping pong
and pasta from Villa Tronka.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
The first time we've ever had an event for those
under twenty one.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
I'm so excited about this and walking into Villa Tronca
is walking back into history. As you mentioned earlier, Columbia's oldest.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Restaurant, South Carolina's oldest and.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
Also at the park. Right, this is not at the restaurant.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
This is at the recreational facility Richland County, Saint Andrew's area. Okay,
they are hosting that event definitely, but pasta will be
there compliments the Villa Tronco.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
So I buy tickets for that? Is that what I
got to do?

Speaker 1 (09:55):
You do?

Speaker 2 (09:56):
All right? So I buy tickets and then I can
play ping pong and eat pasta. I mean, I've never
put pong in pasta together, but that whoever came up
with this as a flipping genius.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
This is the week of collaboration.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Yes, right, Well, everybody has their favorite restaurant in town.
And because of that, I'm a creature of habit I'm
so bad that even when I go to my favorite restaurant,
I'll order my favorite entree and I have to force myself,
literally with a gun to my head, order something different.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
So I had to ford it.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Well, this is the perfect opportunity to not only get
something different, but get something that people are raving about.
So when you expand your restaurant rotations, you also expand
your entree rotations. And I'm reading a lot of people
now are not drinking as much alcohol and mocktails are
all the rage.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yes, and that's why the Grand Tasting we have one
hundred vendors. Mocktails are there and also samples from over
sixty restaurants. So have some samples, enjoy, walk around, socialize,
live music, then go back for another sample. Right, But yes,
definitely mocktails are are available.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
I'm just how many of these events do we got?
I'm trying to read through all of them. There's mainteen, Yeah,
I mean there's so many things. What a week? And
how many of them are you going to get to
go to?

Speaker 3 (11:14):
So it is a divide and conqueror since they're they're overlapping.
Co chair Kelly Glynn with Villageity at Pizza. We decide
between the two of us and a few others to
make sure we are at all events representing it.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Well, oh, I like how you act like it's an
active service for you to go. I need to be the.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Taste testing before it to the public.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Well done. All right.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
So it begins April twenty second through the twenty seventh,
seventh and the web page again.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Is Columbia Food and Wine Festival.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Well all right, dot com.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
I'll be getting my tickets now.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Thank you so much for coming in
