Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, Kelly Nash must have had a great weekend. I
so you're already making connections for the Food and Wine Festival.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Oh yeah, Vicky Davis is joining us from the Columbia
Food and Wine Festival, and you're the vice chair and
this is coming up what in April? Right it is?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
But tickets are on sale now and they are selling
out for certain asall they absolutely so. Thirteen events in
six days leading to Sunday's Grand Tasting of the Columbia
Food Wine.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Vicky, you can help me maneuver through this because a
lot of these events almost are well, some of them
are happening at the same time. Correct the kickoff dinner
at the Rooster, Black.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Rooster, Yes, chef Christianini and a James Beard semi finalist
Colorado coming. So yes, you do have to pick and
choose which ones some overlap, or you could spend a
two hours at one and then hit the next spot
if you'd like.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Right, So, if I wanted to go, because when we
talk about the festival, this is not a one day
this is a one week event. And Jonathan said there's
numerous events happening, sometimes at the same time, different restaurants,
and so on and so forth. How do I go
about mapping this out? Any suggestions you're the pro.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Yes, well, gladly help you with that. But definitely the
website Columbia Food and Wine Festival, and we really have
something for everyone. So you decide there's something for history lovers,
something for book lovers, and of course the collaborations between
different shifts and mixologists and spirits that might might also
(01:31):
appeal to you.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Oh wow, yeah, because picking out these events with Sally, see,
I'm all in. I'm all in on all of them.
But Sally's not a big drinker, so the mixology thing
is not going to appeal to her. And she's funny.
She says, I do not like fish entrees, but every
time that we go to a restaurant where I don't
(01:52):
get the fish because we're eating out, we don't ever
cook fish at home, she'll end up eating some of
my entree because she ends up loving it. So when
you look at the availability of the restaurants and some
of the things you're talking about, and you do that
on the web page, then you can kind of map
it out to make it an individual process or individual
selection for the night.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
That's right. So Hampden Street Vineyard. Of course, French theme,
black rooster, Italian theme. But we do have something for
those that do not drink on Saturday, King Pong and pasta.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
This is already mattails.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Mattails.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
This is a one to five event with ping pong
and pasta from Villa Tronka.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
The first time we've ever had an event for those
under twenty one.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
I'm so excited about this, and walking into Villa Tronca
is walking back into history. As you mentioned earlier, Columbia's oldest.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Restaurant, South Carolina's oldest.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
And also at the park. Right, this is not at
the restaurant.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
This is at the recreational facility Richland County, Saint Andrew's area. Okay,
they are hosting that event definitely, but pasta will be
there compliments the Villa Tronco.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
So I buy tickets for that? Is that what I
got to do?
Speaker 1 (02:59):
You do?
Speaker 2 (02:59):
All right? So I buy tickets and then I can
play ping pong and eat pasta. I mean, I've never
put pong and pasta together, but that whoever came up
with this as a flipping genius.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
This is the week of collaboration.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Well, everybody has their favorite restaurant in town, and because
of that, I'm a creature of habit. I'm so bad
that even when I go to my favorite restaurant, I'll
order the my favorite entree, and I had to force myself,
literally with a gun to my head, order something different.
So I have to ford, Well, this is the perfect
opportunity to not only get something different, but get something
that people are raving about. So when you expand your
(03:36):
restaurant rotations, you also expand your entree rotations. And I'm
reading a lot of people now are not drinking as
much alcohol and mocktails are all the rage.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Yes, and that's why the Grand Tasting we have one
hundred vendors. Mocktails are there and also samples from over
sixty restaurants. So have some samples and enjoy walk around
socialized live music, then go back for another sample.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Right.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
But yes, uh, definitely mocktails are are available.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
I'm just how many of these events do we got?
I'm trying to read through all of them. There's mainteen, Yeah,
I mean there's so many things. What a week? And
how many of them are you going to get to
go to?
Speaker 3 (04:17):
So it is a divide and conquer. Since they're they're overlapping.
Co chair Kelly Glynn with Villageity at Pizza. We decide
between the two of us and a few others to
make sure we are at all events representing it.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Well, oh, I like how you act like it's an
active service for you to go. I need to be the.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Taste test something before it to the public.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Well done, all right.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
So it begins April twenty second through the twenty seventh, seventh,
and the web page again is.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
Columbia Food and Wine Festival.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Well all right, dot com.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
I'll be getting my tickets now.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Thank you so much for coming in
