Food Travel USA with Elizabeth Dougherty
Album: The TRUTH About Food and Travel 080225
Episode #: 1967
Original Broadcast Date: 12/3/2011
From the Food Travel USA Archives.
In 2011, Elizabeth Dougherty spoke with Boulder Weekly columnist and former Boulder city councilman Paul Danish for a wide-ranging interview on GMOs, glyphosate, and the politics of food. At the time, Danish had just published a fiery editorial titled “Anti-GMO Activism is EVIL,” defending Roundup and dismissing critics as hysterical.
Fourteen years later, we’re re-presenting that original interview — and, more importantly, following up on two disturbing moments that have only become more explosive with time.
The first is Danish’s casual brag that his father had “got approved” chemicals far more dangerous than Roundup — a remark that sent us digging into historical archives and uncovered a toxic trail through one of the most infamous pesticide labs in U.S. history.
The second is far darker: his reaction when Elizabeth mentioned the coming Seeds of Freedom campaign, which would claim more than a quarter-million Indian farmers had taken their own lives after being crushed by GMO seed debt and chemical dependence. Danish’s response? He laughed.
You’ll hear the full exchange, the original audio exactly as it happened, and our comments after the fact. Listen closely — because what we found may change the way you remember this conversation.
Using the chassis of a food and travel show, Elizabeth Dougherty has carved out her own lane in Talk Radio, covering the contamination of the food supply and the travel restrictions placed upon us by an overreaching government. The show also covers data protection, self-sufficiency, and homesteading-related topics to help protect us from this evil, corrupt system. With Elizabeth as the host, the show has a very different sound from the typical male-oriented talk radio. In combination with terrestrial stations that carry the show, we reach people who don't normally listen to politically-driven talk radio. In addition to the LIVE FEED of the show on Saturday afternoons from 5pm–7pm (Eastern) / 2pm–4pm (Pacific), we produce and distribute a dozen podcast segments each week.
