אנחנו נוטים לחשוב על תקווה כמשהו שמביא איתו רק אור ושמחה, אבל האמת מורכבת יותר. תקווה לא מופיעה סתם כך – היא נולדת לרוב מתוך כאב, מתוך חוסר ודאות, מתוך ייאוש. כי כשהכל טוב בחיינו, אנחנו לא ממש חושבים על תקווה ולא ממש זקוקים לה.
ד"ר עודד אדומי לשם, פסיכולוג פוליטי וחוקר בכיר במעבדה לפסיכולוגיה של סכסוכים ופיוס באוניברסיטה העברית, מסביר שלתקווה יש שני פנים: היא גם כוח מניע שדוחף אותנו קדימה וגם דרך מחשבה שמעצבת את הדרך שבה אנחנו רואים את העולם.
אבל יש דבר אחד בטוח – תקווה לא מגיעה לבד. היא דורשת פעולה, עשייה, תנועה. אי אפשר פשוט לחכות שהיא תופיע, צריך לטפח אותה, להשקיע בה, להפוך אותה לכוח שמניע אותנו קדימה. אחרת? זה פשוט חסר תקווה.
