Ziele des israelischen Angriffs waren politische Führer und Verhandler der Hamas, die sich versammelt hatten, um über den jüngsten sogenannten „Friedensvorschlag” der Trump-Regierung zu beraten. Die Ziele Israels scheinen die Luftangriffe überlebt zu haben, aber wichtige Fragen bleiben offen. Eine dieser Fragen ist, ob das katarische Regime vor Beginn des Angriffs wusste, dass Israel zuschlagen würde.
