(00:00):
Are you someone who is fascinated by all the pregnancy, childbirth,
and motherhood stuff few people talk about because they're too embarrassed?
If so, welcome to the motherload of all things taboo, or at least really wild and interesting.
The Asking for a Pregnant Friend podcast is based off the book of the same name
(00:21):
and dives into all of the pregnancy, birth, and mothering topics that make many
people blush or scratch their heads.
I do all the boring research so you don't have to and bring you interviews with
the leading experts and the topics I cover.
I also share all the things about myself, Bailey Gaddis. I'm all about TMI.
(00:45):
You'll also hear stories from brave women who gave permission to have their
stories shared. So come along, my friend, on a journey into the beautiful underbelly
of making, growing, and raising babies.

(01:09):
A big question for both donors and intended parents considering egg donation
is, how is the donor fee calculated?
Calculated so at my agency graceful
beginnings we start all first-time donors at a donor fee of 10 000 sometimes
a little bit more depending on certain circumstances you know for example if
(01:34):
it is a donor that graduated from like an ivy league school she's in medical
school or something like that,
sometimes we increase her fee by a little bit.
And then after a donor has her first cycle, if it's successful,
we typically increase the donor fee by about $2,000, $2,500 each cycle.
(01:59):
Again, sometimes more depending on how good the donor's cycle is,
you know, how if she had a somewhat rough recovery.
Maybe we go up a little bit more.
So for example, we've had some donors that go from 11,000 to start and then
(02:20):
15,000, but it really just depends. And.
We really work with donors to select a donor fee that is reasonable and increases
the chances of them being selected.
Because sometimes if a certain donor asks for too high of a donor fee,
(02:42):
she doesn't get selected.
But then we also don't want the donor fee to be so low that we feel like she
is not receiving a fair fee.
So we really work with donors to find that sweet spot.
And then we also work with intended parents on this. If somebody is in a pretty
(03:03):
tight financial situation and they can only afford a fee of X amount,
we talk to the donor to see if they're willing to lower their fee a little bit.
Sometimes there is some light negotiation, but we really do our best to make
sure that the intended parents and the donor are comfortable with the resulting fee.
(03:27):
So it's not just set in stone.
We're not an agency that has the donor compensation listed because it really
depends on the current circumstances for the the intended parents and the donor
when intended parents request a match with a certain donor.
(03:48):
But again, we work with everybody and want it to be as fair as possible.
