One of the primary benefits of egg donation is the profound impact you can have on another person's life. It's a purely altruistic act that helps someone start their family. In addition to changing lives, egg donors gain an in-depth understanding of their reproductive health through ultrasounds and blood work, as well as insights into their genetics via genetic carrier screening. Mental health evaluations and family risk assessments further illuminate personal and familial medical histories.

Donors receive generous compensation, with first-time donors starting at $10,000. Subsequent cycles see increased fees, ensuring fair payment for donors and intended parents. Out-of-town donors also get to explore new cities with all expenses paid, including airfare, accommodations, and a daily food allowance.

(00:48):
offering specific suggestions for mind, body, and spirit nourishment.
It allows mothers to welcome delight and curiosity into the journey while embracing
each phase with purpose and calm, and even a sense of fun.
You can get your copy from Amazon or from Barnes & Noble, Target,

(01:08):
and so you are considering.
Music.
So one of the primary benefits of egg donation is that it is one of the most
amazing things that you can do for another person.

(01:29):
And it's even more amazing because you'd be doing this for a stranger,
a purely loving, altruistic thing to do.
So if you're considering egg donation, it probably means that you are a very generous person.
So that's number one, you know, changing the life of somebody else,
helping them start their family, helping them bring that love into their life.

(01:53):
Another primary benefit is that you get to have a really, you discover a.
In-depth, what am I trying to say? You receive an in-depth understanding of
your reproductive health.
So you will be doing ultrasounds, blood work to really understand,

(02:15):
you know, what your hormone levels are, what's happening in your uterus,
your ovaries, everything is looked at.
And again, you understand what's going on with your reproductive system.
You also get an in-depth insight into your genetics.
So all donors undergo genetic carrier screening. This is done through a saliva

(02:39):
kit. So you fill a little vial with saliva.
It is sent to the lab and they then test that saliva to determine if you are
a carrier for any gene mutations.
So the panels these days, they often range from like they test for anywhere
from 250 to over 500 different gene mutations.

(03:03):
And most donors are a carrier for, you know, I would say at least one or two.
Sometimes the donor is negative for all of them.
And if you are a carrier for a gene mutation, it does not mean that you have that condition.
It just means that you carry the gene for it.
So say you are a carrier for cystic fibrosis.

(03:28):
You can still be a donor, but if the intended father that is providing sperm
is also a carrier for cystic fibrosis,
then the baby has a higher chance of actually developing cystic fibrosis.
It doesn't guarantee that they would.
Develop it, but it does increase the chance. So in that situation,

(03:50):
the donor would not be matched with that couple or with that individual.
So you receive so much information in that regard.
If you are a carrier for something, when you then decide to have children,
if you decide you want to have children,
it can be wise to have your partner tested if you are partnering with a male

(04:13):
to see if they are also a carrier.
You also receive a really extensive mental health evaluation.
This can help you explore your emotions, your ideas about not only egg donation,
but just life in general.
It can be the psych evaluations I had as a donor were actually really illuminating.

(04:38):
I I really enjoyed it. Same with the family risk assessment.
It can be so interesting to talk with the genetic counselor and to understand
more about how your family medical history,
your personal medical history might impact your health or the health of your future children.

(04:59):
And then, of course, donors receive really generous compensation.
In our agency, we provide some of the highest compensation in the industry.
We really want to make sure that our donors are paid fairly.
Our first time donors start at $10,000, sometimes a little bit more depending on various factors.

(05:24):
And then we typically increase the donor's fee by $2,000 to $2,500 each cycle,
sometimes more, again, depending on certain factors. So.
Our donors are paid very well. But again, we want to make sure it is a fair
price for the donor and the intended parents.

(05:46):
We want everyone to feel good about the fee that is agreed upon.
So there are many, many benefits. One last benefit is if it is an out-of-town
donor and the donor needs to travel for the cycle,
then she gets to explore potentially a new city,

(06:07):
a new area for about a week because the airfare for herself and her companion is included,
is paid for, their accommodations are paid for, their rental car paid for,
and they receive a per diem of $125 a day to use for food.

(06:28):
Obviously the number one objective
of that trip is to attend the
monitoring appointments and to have a really great successful cycle but again
the donor and her companion can also enjoy the area that they are in fully paid

(06:48):
for it all right so those are some of the amazing benefits of becoming an egg donor.
If you are potentially interested or you have more questions.
You can comment in the comments below or you can email me at the email address
provided in the video description.

(07:09):

growing, and raising babies.
