David is religious. Josh isn’t. David thinks Josh should read the bible. Josh thinks they should make a podcast about him reading the bible and talking to David about his progress. Join the journey.
Put on your best Sunday clothes, gather 'round the pews, and open up your Bibles. It's time for the return of Bible Study with David and Josh. The Good Time Bible Boys have a very detailed account of *checks notes* only the first three or so chapters of the Book of Matthew. You can blame that on a text David sent Josh a few hours before recording. "I don't want to half-ass this." And half-ass this they didn't.
Have you heard the good news? The Good Time Bible Boys are back and better than ever! Josh visited David recently and, unsurprisingly, David dragged Josh to church at 7:30 in the morning. Woof. Listen to the new special ep about Josh's experience at church. And stay tuned. David and Josh will be back on a more regular schedule.
It's come to David and Josh's attention that they have "better" "things" "to do" with their time. At least over the summer, that is. That's right, folks. The Good Time Bible Boys have reached the end of their first "season" of sorts, and boy do they have a DOOZY of an episode for you: a chapter from one of Josh's former heroes, Christopher Hitchens. And yeah, you don't need to say it. It's worse than he remembers.
David and Josh wi...
In another very special episode of Bible Study with David and Josh, the Good Time Bible Boys dive head first into the futuristic techno-cyber-hacker world of 1999 by watching The Matrix, which, to Josh's surprise, has a lot more biblical inspiration than he remembered.
It's that time of year again, friends and believers: it's time for Mark Wahlberg's 40-Day Challenge, otherwise known throughout the rest of the world as Lent. What is it? Why do some Christians do it? And what is up with all that fish? Find out more in this special episode of Bible Study with David and Josh.
David and Josh took a week off from the pod to focus on the important things in life: ghosts, our listeners, speakers, car spoilers, and more! We'll be back next week.
The Good Time Bible Boys finally did it! They got through the shortest Gospel of the New Testament and it only took three episodes. But don't worry, they'll pick up the pace from here on out. Also discussed: Meant to Live by Switchfoot being included in traditional church services.
Two parts, huh? How many parts can have the gospels have? A lot happens, so the Good Time Bible Boys aren't sure how many parts each gospel will have. But here it is, the second part of The Gospel of Mark, cut short because Josh was tired. The Boys will be back next week with a third and final part (they promise.) Also discussed: David and Josh weep for the future.
The Good Time Bible Boys have good news. Great news, even. They finally did it. They finally reached that other pesky half of the Bible: the New (and improved) Testament. Yes, believers and nonbelievers. It's happened. David and Josh are diving head first (or feet first, since Jesus didn't breakdance on water) into the Gospel (not Book) of Mark. Yes, yes. You know that's not the first book of the New Testament. David doesn't care. ...
It's finally happened, dear listeners. The Good Time Bible Boys finally got through the Apocrypha. Also included in this episode: discussions on the Super Bowl, Star Wars, and the privatization of confession. Yep. We're a real podcast now.
Once again, the Good Time Bible Boys missed a week. But that's okay! Because this week they're fired up and combined two books into one episode. Listen for a deep dive into the Books of Wisdom and Sirach. And as always, stay away from Fake Friends.
Well, well, well. If it isn't another peaceful, nonviolent, head-stay-attaching episode of Bible Study with David and Josh. That's right friends, the boys read through the book of Judith, a somewhat violent tale about a feminist icon, girlboss, and SHE-E-O who makes quite the name for herself. Also discussed: older millennials not growing out of Aaron Sorkin. Thanks for listening!
The Book of Tobit is a simple story about a man who gets to "play" with some birds! How exciting! Yes, this episode was released a little bit later in the week; please don't be mad. Josh is a very busy man. For those who want to create a Christian SNL-like sketch variety show, here's a free idea for you: a musical, Rock Me Asmodeus.
Ladies and gentlemen. Friends and enemies. Believers and haters. The Good Time Bible Boys are back at it again with another episode. They're sorry they missed you during the holiday season (the Christmas season, for the homies). Josh got COVID and David traveled a lot. But rest assured! The boys are back on the regular schedule to bring you all the best bible content in the land, including this episode: a discussion on 2 Maccabees....
You thought they were finished? Oh, David and Josh have a rough week in their schedules, don't release an episode and you think they're done? Don't be absurd. The Good Time Bible Boys are back now, though, for an episode on 1 Maccabees (a great name for a restaurant) and a little Hanukkah special. Also discussed: the true meaning of Hanukkah, according to Josh, dumb movies, and more! Thanks for sticking with it.
Folks, friends, believers, everyone else: David and Josh did it. They finally did it. They finished the book. The Book. The only book. The good word. Well, at least the first half of it. In this episode, the Good Time Bible Boys wrap up the Old Testament with a reading of both books of Chronicles. Also discussed: thanksgiving sides, digital antennas, and an Old Testament Wrap-Up from David with music arranged by Josh. Thanks for li...
Folks, friends, believers, other people: the Good Time Bible Boys are back this week covering the Book of Esther, a nice and short little story about levelheadedness, keeping your emotions in check, and not letting anger and frustration getting the better of you when your queen doesn't want to be paraded around a festival for seven days.
Also discussed: ballpit baptisms, the plot, and Sheetz and Wawa.
FOLKS! The Good Time Bible Boys are back and better than ever. (This isn't true, actually. Josh's power kept cutting when he and David were recording so his audio isn't the highest quality). Anyway, the boys are back with two of the last books of the Old Testament, Nehemiah and Malachi. They'll be done soon, folks. Also in this episode: Josh's idea for a festival of booths, a tense discussion on tithing, and a few choice audio drop...
Friends, enemies, believers, other people: David and Josh are taking a nice, well-deserved break from the podcast next week. But to get you through that, enjoy this collection deep cuts and other unreleased materials.
David had a little "oopsie" - a technical term - with his audio file, so, dear listener, you'll be getting his compressed-to-heck Discord audio stream. David apologizes for the inconvenience; however, David and Josh are here with another episode of Bible Study. This time they're tackling Ezra (a prophet, ooh, ooh) and Haggai, a contemporary to Ezra, as David put it. Thanks for listening.
