In the 1990s, her family moved to Tampa to have a better life and learn English. She is married and has two children. Norma graduated with her master’s in accountancy from the University of South Florida and has over 16 years of accounting experience. Norma’s passion is to work with business owners to achieve their business goals and objectives. She provides accounting services in a multitude of industries, including healthcare and construction. Her areas of focus include revenue recognition, internal controls, project management, and financial analysis. Norma Berrios, CPA, and Marggie Nichols, CPA, are partners of Altura Group. Marggie started the business four years ago. After talking about how to help small businesses and helping them from the financial aspect, which is crucial when people start a business, Norma and Marggie discovered that they have the passion for helping small business owners. That became a perfect match to join forces and help the community and small businesses in Tampa Bay. The pandemic was very hard on small businesses from the financial aspect, which was not expected. So, the SBA provided some programs. A loan called the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll, which can eventually become free money if you met specific requirements. The second program that available is actually for restaurants called Restaurant Revitalization Fund – SBA. This program provides emergency assistance for eligible restaurants, bars, and other qualifying businesses impacted by COVID-19. Norma explained how her company could help small businesses:
