Desde meados de 2020 que sigo os Plastic Estate, de Cardiff, aguardando ansiosamente, mas calmamente, a edição do seu primeiro longa duração.
O álbum de estreia vem tem o nome do grupo e é uma viagem aos sons dançáveis da electrónica dos anos 80. Sendo abertamente admiradores de Dave Grahan, Ian McCullock ou Bryan Ferry, Plastic Estate varia entre canções melancólicas, talvez até tristes ou obscuras, e canções mais alegres, que de forma muito natural começaremos a dançar. Na realidade, outros nomes vêm-nos à memória, sendo para mim Joy Division ou New Order os mais imediatos.
Apesar de um claro revivalismo presente nas canções de Plastic Estate, a verdade é que o grupo liderado por Nicholas James e Stanley Fouracres revela também um sentido de actualidade, misturando sonoridades associadas a canções e artistas do presente, tal como Future Islands.

Since mid 2020 I have been following Plastic Estate., from Cardiff, waiting anxiously, but calm, the release of their first full length album.
Their first album has the name of the band and it is a travel back to the electronic dance sounds of the eighties. With Dave Grahan, Ian McCullock or Bryan Ferry on the sight, Plastic Estate goes from melancholic, even sad or dark songs, to more happy songs, that you will naturally start to dance. In fact, other names come to my mind, like Joy Division or New Order.
Despite their revivalism, Nicholas James and Stanley Fouracres, and the rest of the band, will bring some of today’s sounds that one may associate to names like Future Islands.
Available on streaming services or vinyl, Plastic Estate is on heavy rotation on my side. Listen to it, dance it, save it. Keep it.
