Não podemos negar as semelhanças entre os Thrillhouse e nomes como The National ou mais óbvio ainda, The War On Drugs. No entanto, as canções do duo de Brighton, divergem no que motiva a composição e escrita das letras. Serão canções que evocam ingenuamente um regresso à idade infantil. E numa análise cuidada das letras, até se nota algum humor.
A ideia inicial do álbum surgiu num momento em que Sam Strawberry e Jack Nielsen, os membros dos Thrillhouse, ouviam o álbum Born In The USA, enquanto recordavam momentos da sua infância. E apesar de alguma nostalgia amarga, ou tristeza pelo afastamento desses tempos, o álbum Something About This Place é também uma afirmação de aceitação do que passou, passou, o que virá, virá.
Disponível para audição em formato digital, foi também lançada uma campanha de investimento comunitário na plataforma Kickstarter, para edição em vinil do álbum. É curioso também notar que há vários artistas com o nome Thrillhouse, o que dificulta um pouco encontrar estes Thrillhouse que estamos a ouvir no Cowboy Cantor desta semana.
