In the pilot episode of this podcast, I told you that Create Space is a place where every story is told with radical empathy and compassion. Today, we’re talking about the story of humans and how we came to be.   This episode is a discussion and review of the book, Sapiens: A brief history of humankind, by Yuval Noah Herari. Herari is an Israeli philosopher and much of his body of work is related to storytelling and the impact that story has had on humankind.   This particular book tells the story of human evolution from a biological and scientific viewpoint. It discusses what makes modern humans different from other animal species, why we have been the exclusive apex predator on earth for 10,000 years and what storytelling has to do with it.   This episode is only part 1 as this book is long and detailed. Therefore, in order to give it the time it deserved, I had to break it into two parts. As you prepare to listen, I’d encourage you come in with an open mind that is ready and willing to ponder, wonder, contextualize, and imagine ideas that you may have never considered.   Also, remember that this book and my subsequent discussion of it, is all viewed through the contextual lens of the author’s own cognition and experience, as well as my own. None of this is 100% fact or 100% fiction… which is the beauty of storytelling. It’s all about perspective.   Enjoy the show? Please subscribe so you don’t miss an episode.
