Länge antogs diabetes kunna delas in i två typer av sjukdom, typ 1 och typ 2. Men 2018 kom en svensk studie som visade att det snarare finns minst fem olika varianter. En studie som revolutionerade hela diabetesvärlden och synen på typ 2. Vi har träffat Emma Ahlqvist, docent och forskare inom genetik och diabetes vid Lunds universitet, som var den som ledde studien. Vi pratar också med Tom Heidelbach. Han vet säkert att han har typ 2, ändå menar läkarna att hans diabetes är en gåta.
