Vad kan ett bajsprov säga om din framtida hälsa? Kanske mer än du tror! Det har nämligen visat sig att bakterierna som lever i vår tarm kan spela en avgörande roll för vår hälsa – till exempel för om vi utvecklar typ 2-diabetes eller inte. Och det verkar också som att ju mer socker, processat kött och raffinerade spannmål vi sätter i oss, desto färre goda bakterier har vi i magen.
Diabeteslabbet åkte till Göteborg för att träffa Fredrik Bäckhed, professor i molekylärmedicin och en av världens ledande forskare inom hur vår tarmflora påverkar oss. Han leder ett forskarteam som bland annat studerar vad vår tarmflora har för betydelse för risken att utveckla typ 2-diabetes – och vilken mat vi borde fokusera mer på för att hålla oss så friska som möjligt.
