(00:01):
I love talking cabinets with my cabinet expert Cheyanne,
Lake Cheyanne.
How are you?
I'm good.
I love talking cabinets with you,
Jim.
Yeah,
it's fun.
I mean,
some people might not think it's interesting,
but I love home improvement and the number one place to put money,
everyone knows this is kitchens and bathrooms,
(00:21):
right?
And kitchens and bathrooms have what cabinets?
Cabinets,
lots of cabinets.
It's where and really,
you know,
think about it.
Isn't that where we spend our time right in the kitchen?
You know,
that's where it all,
it all happens,
you know?
And when I was a,
yeah.
And when I was a kid,
the kitchen was just a place for utility.
We had four mic countertops with,
(00:42):
with,
you know,
cuts on it from the,
from the knives and chips.
And it was ok.
Today everybody says come to my kitchen.
Look,
I just had it renovated.
It's been remodeled and some people put 100 100 and $50,000 into their kitchens.
Yes.
They,
they sure do.
I like to say,
you know,
we uh design and put kitchens in that you don't just uh love and admire,
(01:06):
but that you use?
Yeah.
Uh So how long would it take to do a cabinet remodel,
let's say,
in a kitchen on average,
what,
what are the components to that?
Yeah,
great question.
That's probably the second uh most often asked question is Cheyenne,
how long is it gonna take?
Right?
A lot of things can impact how long a project's gonna take?
(01:28):
I always say this proper planning.
If you will do the leg work up front,
you are going to ensure a better timeline and a better timeline is going to mean you without that space for the least amount of time as possible.
And,
and I have had people,
you know that they've come to us because they started the project without a clear plan,
(01:52):
maybe without the right team and you know,
what should take a typical kitchen renovation,
you know,
and again,
I'm gonna give a modest kitchen renovation,
um you know,
a kitchen renovation that's let's just say maybe 10 to $50,000 kind of level of renovation is gonna be somewhere between a month and three months,
(02:13):
right?
Like that's from beginning to end and that is from planning stages to the execution,
to the,
you know,
to the end product.
And I think what we've learned um since COVID is there can be a ratchet thrown in at any moment,
right?
But like supply chain issues,
(02:36):
like supply chain issues,
like shipping company issues,
which is part of the supply chain.
Um but those are the things that are gonna always be out of everyone's control and so all we can do is control the things that we can and the things that we can control are,
who are we doing business with?
(02:58):
You know,
what is our timing?
What um how long right now without monkey wrenches,
how long does everything take?
What is the order that each,
you know part happens?
Because if you get the order out that is going to or can you know,
provide or,
you know,
cause delays,
um who,
(03:19):
who you're working with that matters.
What is the communication agreement that they have?
And that is one of the questions that I ask everyone when people are deciding if they're gonna use this or not.
I always say,
what's their communication agreement?
What's their communication guarantee?
How do they communicate with everybody that's in the,
(03:40):
you know,
in the project?
Now,
with us specifically,
we,
it's between us and one other.
We have a couple of strategic partners between the two of us,
we can do the entire project.
Now,
we used to do the entire project but,
you know,
we're getting older and,
and so,
uh you know,
we don't do it,
but we did look specifically for someone that between the two of us,
(04:00):
we can do it all that does make it a little bit easier to have,
you know,
basically three people communicating uh versus if you are the general or operating as the general in your own project.
And you're trying to get a one painter and one type guy and one flooring guy,
one cabinet person and one counter top person,
(04:20):
right?
Like all of a sudden,
you've got all of these different people that you're trying to coordinate,
that can be really difficult and that can impact a timeline,
right?
So you're looking at a month to three months on a reasonable size,
you know,
kitchen renovation and our kitchens,
we actually give guarantees.
Um because we are so precise that uh we know that we have the way we communicate,
(04:47):
the way we line things up,
we know the proper order of things.
We've communicated to our clients clearly that we can tell them that they're only gonna be without their kitchen,
you know,
for a month and that is,
and,
and,
and look at our little asterisks unless it is a COVID or a,
you know,
the shipping line like something that's,
it's almost like an act of God,
right?
(05:07):
Like an act of God that,
you know,
cancels that out.
But,
right.
So yeah,
or a hurricane and well,
we know that can happen.
Yes.
Yes.
More and more tropical disturbances and wild fires.
It seems like today,
there's always some natural occurrence that could also throw a monkey wrench into it,
(05:31):
Cheyanne as always.
Thank you so much for joining me here on the podcast.
By the way,
everybody,
Cheyanne's information is located in the description in the show notes.
No excuse.
She's only one click away Cheyanne.
Thank you.
Always good to be here.
