(00:00):
It's time to talk about cabinets.
Cheyanne Lake is here.
She's our cabinet expert.
How you doing?
Good.
I'm awesome.
Thank you.
How are you?
I'm living the dream.
Thanks.
It's so great to have you here.
I love working with uh home service professionals.
You guys um are in the cabinet business discount,
kitchen direct.
And I know people have a lot of different options when it comes to kitchen cabinets.
(00:26):
Let's talk though first,
a little bit Cheyanne.
If we could about what does it cost?
It's always a big question,
right?
People want them,
but what does it cost?
So how do you figure that?
Do you do a budget?
You go backwards.
How does that go?
So that's the number one question,
right?
And people don't want to give away their buying power so to actually,
(00:49):
you know,
even get their budget out of them and we can definitely go into that.
That's that can be challenging.
But what does it cost?
Well,
there's a lot of things that impact the cost.
One is.
What kind of cabinetry are you,
are you purchasing?
Um and we've got everything,
you know,
there's different,
(01:09):
ready to assemble semi custom and um and full custom and,
you know,
um there are,
there are several things that impact that this is probably more for a longer video than this.
But um you can get,
you'll see uh online a lot of times there's these per square linear foot,
right?
(01:29):
Like if you're ready to assemble,
you're gonna be between 100 and 400.
I mean,
I've seen numbers all over the board.
It's probably very confusing for the consumer.
So this is what I like to say is that um your,
your price for your cabinets.
If you go into one of those ready to assemble lines,
(01:51):
you're going to be at the lower price of a budget.
And a and a typical kitchen renovation is gonna be anywhere from,
you know,
10 to probably 50,000.
That's kind of industry standard is 10 to 50,000.
And so your cabinets are a pretty large piece of that budget.
And if you're looking at cabinets and countertops and flooring and backsplash and new appliances and sinks and faucets and hardware,
(02:17):
you know,
you might be moving some things around if you're staying within your footprint,
you know,
obviously you're going to,
you know,
it's gonna be nicer on the budget,
but the kitchen cabinets,
I'll just say for what we do in that ready to assemble uh or semi custom line,
our average cabinet price is about 10 to $12,000 and that,
(02:42):
and that's,
that's pretty average Right.
So I've got small little condos that are gonna be somewhere between four and 6000.
And then I get into these larger,
you know,
kitchens that are going to be,
you know,
15 20 $25,000.
And I like to tell people these are the,
these are the places that you can either go up in your budget or you can come down.
(03:04):
Um,
the uh cabinets,
drawers versus doors,
drawers are gonna be more expensive.
So a lot of times when you see those little renderings and it says get this kitchen for 4000,
you're gonna notice there's not a lot of drawers in them,
right?
Because doors are less expensive the other places in the accessories.
(03:27):
Now we have all these fabulous accessories,
you know,
the garbage pullouts,
the spice rack,
the u the utensil the knife,
the cookie sheet,
pull out the oscillating arms.
So I don't know how you are,
but I'm old and crawling down to get into the blind cabinet just doesn't work for me,
you know,
or many people.
(03:47):
So those awesome articulating shelves that come out,
they're pricey.
So doors versus drawers is going to,
you know,
be a little friendlier on a budget.
Um and you know,
less accessories,
you know,
that's where you can save,
you can still get.
This is this is kind of the cool thing.
(04:08):
I just did some research in this.
It doesn't necessarily impact the quality of your cabinet.
The things that impact the the the price is the colors and the styles.
So you can get a very similar box.
So the quality of the construction,
(04:29):
the soft clothes,
the dovetail construction,
you know,
all wood versus,
you know,
particle board or MD F,
you know,
cabinetry.
So you can still get very,
very good quality um in your cabinets.
It is uh you're gonna just pay a real healthy,
you know,
increase if you want a different color.
(04:49):
So,
you know,
anything beyond white,
gray,
you know,
kind of those standard colors and kind of standard um styles.
So,
you know,
basic shakers,
even a two step shaker raise panel,
if you stay in those,
you know,
those very,
those the the styles that most people buy that's gonna allow you to save,
(05:10):
you know,
to save money.
And I just priced out a kitchen,
literally no difference in the quality of the cab cabinet.
But because of the color that they wanted,
it was double the price,
it literally was 29,000 and some change.
(05:31):
We just went from this green color that they wanted back into this gorgeous,
it's Oyster,
it's beautiful,
dropped the price uh 10 $13,000 same cabinet,
different color and because we had to go to the different color line,
so that's,
that's,
that's,
(05:51):
those are the things that can I,
you know,
impact what,
what you're going to pay.
I always like to show my people um you know,
pictures of kitchens we've done and say,
hey,
those people spent $7000 on their cabinets.
Does your kitchen look similar to that?
And I have found by using the photos with the price we're super transparent,
right?
(06:12):
Um I find that when they come in and they're ready to sit down because I've given them that they've,
they already know that that's kind of what my kitchen looks like.
She's already told me where I'm gonna pay more.
She's told me where I'm gonna spend less.
And,
um,
and so they're pretty prepared once they come in.
All right,
Cheyanne,
this has been extremely educational on the cost of cabinets.
(06:35):
All of Cheyanne's information is located in the description of this podcast.
So she's one click away Cheyanne as always.
Thank you so much.
It's always good to be here.
