Klima, kvælstofudledninger, grundvand, energi, friluftsliv, biodiversitet … Skoven kan som et Kinderæg bidrage til at løse en lang række af vores udfordringer og ønsker.
Men vi har brug for både tid, mod og plads, hvis vi vil have det hele. Og hvordan gør vi det, mens vi samtidig passer på skovens unikke økosystemer?

15 procent af Danmarks areal består af skov, og det er meningen, at vi skal have mere. Men meget kan nå at ændre sig, mens en skov vokser op.
Træerne i Vestskoven på Københavns Vestegn blev i sin tid plantet som træ til brænde og byggematerialer, men i dag står skoven som urørt skov. Det er altså en ung skov, i modsætning til Lundby Krat og Bakker i Nordjylland, som huser flere sjældne arter.
Og vi ved ikke, om fremtidens klima bliver som i Sydfrankrig eller i Nordsverige. Så ligesom på aktiemarkedet bør vi sprede vores risiko, når vi planter træer, bl.a. ved at plante mange forskellige arter.
