In this Equestrian Author Spotlight, Valerie Ormond, author of the Believing in Horses series, returns to the show. Saddle up for a conversation on revisiting a series after a seven year break, the importance of winning awards, and how trips to various dude ranches inspired her to write her newest book, Believing in Horses Out West.   Valerie Ormond retired as a Navy Captain after a 25-year career as a Naval intelligence officer and then founded her own business, Veteran Writing Services, LLC, providing companies and organizations professional writing, editing, and consulting services. Valerie’s first two novels, Believing In Horses, and Believing In Horses, Too, won eight national and international awards including Gold Medals in the Military Writers Society of America book awards. Her most recent novel, Believing In Horses Out West, won first place in the National Federation of Press Women’s at-large communication contest and is currently being judged in the national competition. Her fiction and non-fiction stories and poems have been published in eight books, and her articles have appeared internationally in magazines, newspapers, and blogs.
