Last time on the Tales of Archeron, the Tempests descended into Takatari after encountering the two deities, Tlazocoatl and Shenshe, atop their mountain home where they gave their advice, blessings, and gifts to aid them on their journey forward. Making landfall, Kasumi became concerned with the state of her homeland. Much of the grass and vegetation is dead or dying. The vast farmlands are barren and there are few souls traveling the roadways. With a growing sense of unease, Kasumi asked Cassie to continue traveling throughout the day and night on their way to Chunsu. The Tempests were greeted with more and more images of the sickened land: from malnourished wolves, to a pile of corpses not far from the roadside. Along the way, their wagon was hit by a severe earthquake that dislodged many items inside, they encountered a chest weasel that seemed to feed off of frustration and departed after giving the Tempests a few gifts for their efforts, and they came upon a giant hole in the ground surrounded by a handful of locals peering down within.
