(00:00):
So i didn't catch anything what you were saying i don't remember what i was talking about,
i do have a i don't know if you heard i do have a hard out at 4 30 okay i then
i would like to get started and i know you've i think you said you had some
stuff you want to talk about this time,
(00:21):
oh dude well i mean i've just got a
lot of games i've been playing man i've been on vacation the last couple weeks
so before i start this new job which
is pretty cool so i
start that tomorrow which is interesting but dude i've got
i'm not going to go into great detail on
every single thing i'm playing but i've got nine games here
(00:43):
go talk to mama i kind
of went down like the you just i just want to get into it
yeah let's go let's do a little intro and then we can hop in
okay go for it yeah all right
everybody welcome to the game dad's podcast where
we both talk in deep voices and talk about
(01:03):
things very seriously and the subject matter is only about video games and we
never talk about anything else no we're gonna take you for a ride we are gonna
take you for a ride hi this is aaron and i'm here with my best friend brett
altmiller and we're gonna to talk about video games. That's me.
(01:24):
So I guess kind of the shortened version of it, I guess, since I got time constraints today.
Dude, so I've been on vacation last couple weeks, so I've been kind of catching
up on like backlog type stuff and went down sort of a classic gaming,
which I mean, I guess I always do.
I mean, I'm all over the place with that stuff, but I did a no death run on
(01:48):
Castlevania, which is pretty cool. Nice.
Yeah, that was that was a lot of fun. So I played the collection on PS5.
They have been starting to put more emphasis on PSP and PS2 games on PS5.
So I guess they've got a brand new emulator that makes things run a little bit smoother.
I don't know if you ever got into the PS2 games on PS4, but some of them didn't perform very well.
(02:13):
And then when they made the transition from PS4 to PS5, some of them are a little on the laggy side.
But Sony put out Sly Cooper. super so that was
platinum number 131 nice which
a lot of fun daxter came out a couple days ago so
i just beat that that was platinum number 132 i
(02:33):
tried out assassin's creed mirage and prince of
persia the last crown i thought those came out within the last like six months
neither one of those really spoke to me all that much assassin's creed i put
about 11 hours in i just wasn't feeling it prince of persia i didn't like at
all which is super surprising you all know i like those newfangled,
(02:54):
Metroidvania type games.
So yeah. Even though every time we talk about Metroidvanias on the podcast,
you tell me how much you hate the name Metroidvania.
I hate the name Metroidvania. I hate it so much.
This one is kind of like, you know, just if that's the term we're going to use
and that's what this is, whatever.
(03:16):
So yeah, you go start a map and you collect stuff and I don't know man I think
I'm just if it's not Metroid or Castlevania then you can just piss off.
Some of them do it pretty well, but I don't know, man, this, this one just isn't it.
So then I went down the Sega rabbit hole again, picked up some new games for
(03:41):
that, picked up a X-Men one and two and Spider-Man for the Sega Genesis.
Nice. But I, I landed more on X-Men two.
That game is phenomenal and kind of like the game I'm getting ready to talk about as well.
Just again, we're kind of going, you know,
just real quick with these i'm i'm discovering
(04:02):
new favorite games for old consoles in
2024 i love it x-men 2 is phenomenal dude
so i went through and i beat that i did
that on original hardware so like no rewinds or anything like that so
good dude and then like you know it's like really story oriented
so like there's a part in the game where you
end up fighting magneto and then he like joins your team
(04:23):
so then you can pick magneto i love that and then
rocket knight adventures um i just bought the collection for that
oh yeah i'd never dude never played rocket
knight really it was looked really cool never played it
before and that is a brett game that is a that is a brett game dude like and
if i had that when i was a kid i probably would i would probably hold it in
(04:45):
the same regard as like mega man for me playing that a little bit i'm about
halfway through the first game it's got safe states on it which is pretty cool
but dude that That is so good.
It's got the three Rocket Knight Adventures. So it's the first one on Sega Genesis.
Then there's Sparkster Rocket Knight Adventures 2. And then there's a Super
(05:06):
Nintendo version of Sparkster.
Oh, dude, I adore it. It's so good. Did you ever get into it? I played a little bit.
It definitely seemed like a very Brett game. I was genuinely surprised when
you said you hadn't played it before.
Did i honestly until i started
kind of looking into the sega genesis library and i i i'm familiar with the
(05:27):
genesis but i'm not like as as familiar with genesis library as i am with like
super nintendo or like deeply with super nintendo or you know the playstation or whatever but,
like super deep cuts like i would consider gunstar heroes kind of a deep cut
like the Darius games are type games.
(05:48):
Like I got deep with it as far as that's concerned, but rocket night,
I'm a little embarrassed.
I'd never heard of it. Wow. That's a brand. Never heard of it.
So yeah, I'm super embarrassed, but I'm writing some wrongs and I saw it.
Yeah. One of the local game stores, they had a copy of it for like 30 bucks
(06:09):
with a loose copy. So I didn't buy it.
But they've got the collection for 30 bucks. It's a limited run games is doing
it. And it's got, you know, safe states, rewind features, all that good stuff.
I'm trying not to use the rewind as much. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Especially when you're playing those classic games, it's kind of like,
if you want to get the actual feel of the game, you got to like use that as
(06:32):
seldom as you possibly can. Yeah.
It's there's, I mean, there's definitely a couple of parts that are a little on the unfair side.
So like having that rewind feature is great for newer players
so so you don't have to like bang your head against
the wall and all that good stuff but i'm actually doing pretty well
with it but halfway through i haven't died yet got 11
lives stocked it's it's definitely
(06:55):
a lot of fun so and last but
not least i've been kind of getting to my steam deck quite a bit and i
have been playing fable anniversary on it about four
or five hours into that so it's been a long time since i played fable
so i it's been.
It's been fun having that on the steam deck itself i have
one of the weirdest like one of
(07:18):
the weirdest like random stories i have is a
fable story it was fable three back when
i worked at bed bath and
beyond the there was a girl
who i worked with who was like a gamer so like we would
have gamer chats every once in a while and she we
(07:38):
were talking about somehow we got on fable and i was like she was
like yeah i mean my boyfriend had been playing fable we
just like finished it up and you know now we're moving on
to something else and i was like i actually haven't i haven't had time slash
money to buy fable 30 yet and play it and
she was like do you want to borrow it and i was like i have
literally i literally never borrow games from people
that I don't like that I'm not like friends
(08:01):
friends with I don't I don't just it's one of those things
where like you never know how people you
know will act about you having something of theirs and I just I never want to
be in that situation but randomly she was like no no no no no it's totally cool
you can borrow it and like she like lets me borrow the game and the exact thing
(08:24):
that I was like, this is gonna get weird fast.
She, like, I don't know if she got fired or she quit, but, like,
she wasn't working there like the day after she let me borrow it.
And, like, the only time I see her is at work. I don't have her phone number.
I don't know her well enough to, like, try and find her to give it back to her.
(08:44):
So, like, I have her game for, like, three months.
And then, like, three months later, she, like, shows back up at Bed Bath & Beyond,
even though she doesn't work there anymore.
And she's like, I want my game back. And I'm like, yeah, 100%.
It i like i will absolutely give your game back but
you know you're catching me at work because i'm
(09:06):
at work and she's like trying to get me to like give her
my address so she can go to my house and i'm like
no i'm not sending you to my apartment
to talk to my wife when i'm not there that's not
happening so like when i'm
off work we can go and get it but like
that's it like this conversation's over nothing is
(09:26):
happening until i get off work so she literally like sits
in bed bath and beyond for like three hours waiting
for me to get off work doesn't have a car so like she wants to get in my car
and wants me to drive her to my house then get her game and then drive her back
to bed bath and beyond where her boyfriend's gonna come pick her up when he's
(09:48):
off work and i'm like no No, that's not happening either.
What's going to happen is when I'm off work, I'm going to go home.
I'm going to get this game.
I'm going to come back and then I'm going to give it to you and you can spend
the rest of the day doing whatever you want to do because I'm not taking you to my house.
This got super weird, super fast. Yeah.
(10:09):
Honestly, dude, table three. Not that good. Yeah. Well, at least it's good,
but it's not good enough.
Constitute all that. Yeah. Yeah. But like I in that rule is like set in stone.
Like unless yeah i know you well i won't borrow anything from you and i won't
let you borrow anything of mine
like even if it is something i don't care about i just no no thank you.
(10:34):
That was just, it was a weird experience. And I'm like, yeah,
so what you think is going to happen is I'm going to give you my address.
Then you are going to go to my house and talk to my wife who doesn't know you
and be like, hey, Aaron, let me borrow this game.
Can you go in there and get it for me? Like that? No, no.
(10:55):
It was just, it was weird. I have a funny fable three story as well.
But first I'll tell you like why I don't let people borrow games anymore.
More i don't know if you remember in our i'm not
gonna say his last name but in our graphic design class as you
and i were in that class together there's a guy named mark in that class yeah
you remember that guy mark okay i do friend of mine he
(11:15):
came over my house one day and like we hardly ever like we
hung out like with other people but like never like
one-on-one and he was in my room and
kind of going through my my games and all that stuff it's like man you
got some great stuff i'm like well i know i do i don't
buy bad games but anyway he found
a copy of final fantasy 7 he's like dude i haven't played this in like so long can
(11:36):
i borrow it i'm like well i mean
i'm not super comfortable with that but sure if you but you'll bring it back
in a week or whatever it's been 20 years yeah yeah i'm never gonna see that
game again so but that's why i don't let people buy our games anymore but my
funny fable 3 story though you can get married in that game game.
(11:58):
And you can get married in all the fable games. But in Fable three,
specifically, you can actually have another player in your game.
And you can actually marry that player and have kids and like,
it's a good way to kind of break the money system in that game.
My my ex wife was not a gamer, but her cousin Gwen was.
(12:23):
Gwen and i got married in that game and had a like freaking like 37 kids and like it was,
completely i don't know how the kids are born with it well i mean i know my
kids are born but i'm not sure how it works in that game like if your character's
just married they just bond kids or whatever but we ended up breaking the the
(12:44):
game money system or whatever got like
five million dollars out of that game but do my my
ex-wife was so mad that gwen
and i had got married in that game just like it's
definitely one of those it's definitely one of those you cheated on me in a
dream situations but like yeah i totally i totally could see that it's like
(13:08):
well i mean that's like but we're doing it for money like that doesn't make
it any better but anyway Anyway, Fable 3, not a good game.
At least not good enough for all the problems that it's caused you and I.
Yes, that game is a root. I swear on Dickie Simpkins, if I ever see Fable 3
again, I will never play it.
(13:30):
You just had to bring him up, didn't you? Oh, yeah. All right.
Is that the end of what you're playing?
I hope so. Okay.
Oh, wait. No, no, no, no, no, no. no i got one more good i'm
not gonna get super into it doom eternal i beat that today nice and
it's good okay now go okay mine mine
(13:51):
is pretty whack the only thing only game that i think that i've played since
the last time we talk is marvel ultimate alliance 3 i think that's literally
the only game i've played dang it's just like me and andrea had this thing like
i explained it the first time i was talking about this we basically played until
we got to wakanda it got we had these
guys with lasers were killing us over and over we got stuck we never played
(14:14):
the game again we put it down it happened again we
got to another spot in hell in hell is realm where we're running around and
it same thing happened to run into a bunch of bad guys they kept kicking our
bus and we put the game down i was like no no ma'am this game this completing
this game is literally like,
(14:34):
almost six years in the making at this point i am going to so i just like took
a second got the characters that I wanted to play, grinded the characters that
I've been just like playing missions over and over and over and over to grind the characters.
The leveling system in that game is so, so slow.
Like I, like it doesn't make sense to me how slow it is.
(14:56):
I, like, for the past two weeks, like, almost every lunch break that I've had, almost every,
like, you know, like, not, like, free moment, but, like, every once in a while,
almost, you know, almost once a day at least, I have been grinding in this game,
leveling up my characters.
The level cap in that game is 300.
(15:18):
My characters are at level 70. And I have been grinding it every day for two weeks.
Was it one of those like it's like with
diablo you have like the the different like
tiers or whatever yeah is it
something like that where like once you beat the game
like you can boost up like the world tier
(15:39):
and get more experience the the issue is
from all of the forms i've looked on because i
was i was looking i was like okay why is this am i
getting xp in this game taking so long so and
all the forms that i found you have to
play on normal difficulty then you have to play on hard difficulty and then
when you as you're finishing hard difficulty you start
(15:59):
getting equipment that you can equip
that boost your boost your xp gains and like that's that's what like where i
where we got stuck was in the normal mode playthrough so we haven't gotten to
the hard mode playthrough to like get the xp crystals to make leveling up easier so like.
(16:21):
If i had to just push through and like finish normal mode then went into hard
mode i probably would have had less trouble grinding but like because i was
playing on normal mode it just there's no xp there's nothing there's nothing
that boosts your xp in normal mode until you
know get to hard mode so like it just that normal
mode grind is just hard so i'm in
(16:43):
hard mode now and i'm just like running through
it skipping all the cut scenes just fighting all the bad guys got iron
man he's got the little like spinny laser attack
that like almost hits everything on the screen and i
can just run around as soon as i find a bad group of bad guys and hit them with
it and keep moving so like i'm getting through the the hard mode playthrough
(17:04):
easier than i was before but it's like this is still a grind like i i'm still
grinding right now i'm like.
But like i want to finish it i want to play
i bought the dlc i want to me and andrea to play to the dlc and
then i'm done all i want to do is just get all the characters that's it once i
have every character unlocked i'm done so you haven't finished the story yet
(17:28):
no i finished it we finished it we literally finished it on on normal mode last
night like me and andrea We like sat down and we played through and finished
it because I had been grinding my characters from like level 45 to like level
70. Now all of my characters are level 70.
So like we went through and played the end and we were able to beat it pretty easily.
Yeah. So have you tried Marvel Midnight Sun yet? I have not.
(17:53):
I didn't include that on my list because I'm not really far into it,
but I bought that on Steam Deck. And that's something that you would enjoy.
All right. I'll have to check it out.
Like, it's a little bit on the cheesy side, but I think most Marvel games are,
especially like those old, like the Ultimate Alliance, X-Men Legends, you know, style games.
(18:14):
Yeah. But it's a Firaxis game. Mm-hmm. So it's like the SimCity people and all
that. Firaxis is awesome.
Yeah. it's doesn't it doesn't have doesn't have x-com vibes oh absolutely yeah
it's it's x-com and marvel but it's like a card-based game as well like it's
a card-based role-playing game.
(18:36):
With like a little bit of a relationship builder in it so you could be like
super good friends with blade if you want to but yeah i think that one might
be up your alley it was like
14 15 bucks on steam yeah i'll
have to check it out uh yeah i'm not
i mean it's not happened yet but i
still i'm gonna say rip to that blade movie because i don't
(18:59):
think that thing's ever gonna come out oh yeah
it's just all i lost another director yeah i mean mersha
ali is like a has the patience of a
saint like i dude must really love marvel
really wants to get in that get in that door somehow because
that he's been that movie
has been what is it is when that
(19:21):
when you're talking about that like right after in-game like how
long had they been waiting for that movie to come
out it's been a while dude i'm not
sure exactly what the time frame was on it but whenever they did
their what no no no it was
in the oh gosh it was one of those like d23 things that they had and then you
(19:42):
know they put up the the graphic it wasn't in the same graphics with like eternals
i'm pretty sure it was like gong chi i'm pretty sure it was supposed to like
the way they were talking about it originally it was supposed to come out like
and right after endgame like yeah.
Well that didn't happen yeah i i also remember hearing something about that where like,
(20:04):
it had gotten so like the writing and stuff had gotten so out of pocket that
like there was a version that they were talking about releasing where like blade
wasn't even the main character.
There was like another person who was supposed to be like the main character
in Blade was just supposed to be like this like menace who shows up in the background.
(20:25):
And then he's like majorly involved in the last scenes of the movie.
Like he's majorly involved in the climax, but the movie is not about him.
Was that he was he was kind of in Eternals, wasn't he?
Was he? Dude, nobody watched Eternals. We all watched Eternals,
but nobody watched it. I can't remember.
(20:48):
All I thought the entire time I watched that movie was like,
why is Jon Snow in this movie with his brother?
Why did you guys do this? It's so distracting. Blade is in the post-credits scene.
Oh my god, wow. The only thing
(21:11):
I remember post-credits about that movie was when they were talking about Jon
Snow no becoming the black knight i don't even remember a post-credit scene
with blade yeah it was oh he was was was in it he was says in the end of it but wow i don't know okay.
(21:31):
Starfox that's almost as it's almost as bad as the post-credit scene in thor the dark world,
because i mean when i watched that movie i mean i didn't go to see it in theaters
i watched it on on DVD but we're like in the the pinnacle the maximum hype of
the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I hated that movie so much I didn't even like,
(21:54):
I'm watching it on DVD so I could fast forward to see the post credit scene
I didn't even watch it I didn't know there was a post credit scene in the end
of Thor Dark World until like,
until like the second time i watched it after in game what was the end credit
for that one i have no idea brett i have no idea that movie's so bad let's see here.
(22:21):
Okay two post-credit scenes what is it uh the final scene see of dark world sees oh spoilers i
guess yeah if thor abdicate the throne he tells odin that he's not really fit to be king,
he admits that he was never the right brother the apparently but come on deceased
(22:44):
loki was a better fit okay okay all right now wasn't that wasn't that where
like loki had already become like he
was already posing as Odin at the end of the dark world.
I think so. Like he, he had died or whatever. Yeah.
As expertly told by Matt Damon.
(23:06):
That God, that movie is so bad. I,
I just, I just remember like, I literally like the only thing that came out of the,
the that came out of that movie that i appreciated in any way is there's an
after credit scene there's like not after credit scene it's a behind the scenes
(23:28):
like almost like like outtakes scene it's
not really but it kind of is but it's an
outtake scene and it's like the
big battle at at the end where loki dies but like
they they like break in the action for some reason and like thor and loki are
(23:50):
just kind of standing around in full costume like talking to each other and
then like loki like turns around and sees the camera behind him and like absolutely
starts doing the freaking great saiyan man poses.
Like like a hundred percent like
i'm like okay that guy tom
hiddleston apparently is a dragon ball z fan because those
(24:13):
are great saiyan man poses and you're not going to convince me they're not so
like thor and thor and loki are just standing in the camera doing great saiyan
poses at each other like okay this is the only redeeming quality of this entire movie yeah,
oh man I don't remember a whole lot about that movie I don't know if I've seen
(24:38):
it all the way through without falling asleep to be perfectly honest,
I may have I unfortunately have this like strange like,
photographic memory when it comes to movies because I can kind of absolutely
tell you what that movie what happens in that movie but I can,
(24:59):
like nothing like i can tell you what happens but like i can't tell you why
any of it is significant besides the fact that it's all based on the reality stone like okay yeah i,
i don't know see i'm like that with the turtles too like i don't i i saw the
turtles but i couldn't tell you a single thing about it other than the fact
(25:21):
that i i knew that play with the.
My favorite part of that movie my favorite
part of the eternals is the the
balls on the person who wrote it like
the confidence that they had when they
wrote it because like oh because like
(25:43):
the eternals ends with the
eternal that was waking up and like the end
of the movie is the eternal waking up before they like use the
the i don't even know what their explanation is to
like keep it from waking up but like
half of that eternal's body is just like sticking out of the ocean and it's
(26:05):
never mentioned again like like it literally is like if you like watch the end
of the movie half of that eternal's body is just sticking out of the ocean and
i mean it's an eternal those Those things are, like, planet-sized.
Like, it's a huge amount of something to be sticking out of the ocean and just
(26:26):
no one talks about it. It's never mentioned again.
And, like, it's not like they can destroy it.
Eternals are made out of, like, the actual Eternals are made out of,
like, Galactus-level materials that can't just be destroyed by anything. Like, it would take...
Massive amount of work and a more powerful creature than
probably the mcu has shown that exists
(26:46):
on earth at this point like to get rid of it
but it's just like half of this eternal's body is just poking out
of the ocean no one says a word about it it's been 10 series
and five more movies and no one
has mentioned it not not one reference to
it because the movie sucked because it's like the person who made it was like
(27:06):
oh yeah i'm just gonna it's just gonna be a warning for the the rest of the
world that this is like no one cares not single person cares yeah i think they
thought that movie's gonna be a lot bigger than what it actually ended up being yeah they they,
like as far as like famous people who were famous before they became part of marvel,
(27:27):
eternals has like the most famous people in it of all the marvel movies oh yeah
absolutely yeah and for to be to get john snow and god dang it i can't remember
what his brother's name is i'm feeling bad because i love game of thrones uh hold on.
Rob rob is his brother to have both of
(27:48):
them in that movie right after game of thrones ended is
like like game of thrones was like the biggest thing going on besides freaking
marvel at that point and then like to get two of the main characters from that
show in one movie like And then that movie is just absolute dog water.
(28:10):
It was a wet fart, my friend. It was a wet fart.
All right. All right. Let me get into my rat beef news, and then we can discuss some other things.
I just want to get this out of here because it's timely.
Okay. So Juneteenth, Kendrick did a.
(28:31):
One-time concert in la on juneteenth first
off for him being in this beef and constantly
talking about how he is like rap
and black culture and drake is not to like do
a concert on juneteenth is kind of like it it's
(28:53):
significant so like that happens but like what
happened at this show okay first off
part of the thing that drake was
trying to say to kendrick was that drake gets
more that he gets more respect in la
than kendrick does kendrick had
dr dre come out and
(29:16):
sing the opening to not like
us which was kendrick's last diss track so he
has dr dre on the stage singing with him
for his last diss track not like us that's that's nuts
so you can't not not much
you could say about not getting respected in la if you got
dr dray on your track like period right second
(29:38):
again he keeps saying he keeps talking about how kinder keeps talking about
how he is he represents the culture more than drake does well this show he had
tyler the creator YG he had LeBron James was there.
Russell Westbrook was there DeMar DeRozan was there.
(30:02):
Like just the amount
of like like culture like
rap culture and black culture related people who are at this
show is just insane but then
the the killer the part that like really seals
the deal and like seals this and i
i wanted to bring this up specifically because we constantly were comparing
(30:23):
this one to like the the 90s beefs.
That were going on yeah okay when
kendrick came out and he was doing not like us which
is his really really big hit from his most
famous song from the beef he had crips and
bloods on stage doing a
choreographed dance number with him
(30:46):
in this economy to this song yes like he
had crips and bloods on stage together in
unison to make fun of drake oh my
gosh like like i
just it that's insane like the
last time something like that happened where the
crypts and bloods were together doing something was
(31:09):
like the rodney king riots like the idea
that he got them both them on stage to make fun
of drake is i don't it's it's an
expert play in in in raptus is
for sure but like it's like it's
beyond that at that point like i don't i don't know
if drake is like allowed back in the u.s if both the crypts and the bloods are
(31:33):
on stage talking about how much you suck i don't i don't know i didn't even
know that the crypts and the bloods were still like like definitely definitely
not at the realm that they were in the 90s but But like, no.
To like, just think about that.
Think about the idea in your head of like one rapper getting the crips and the
(31:55):
bloods on stage at the same time and nothing bad happens. Like.
Crazy crazy did you ever
pick a side i would never i would never
do something you don't want you don't want the smoke not at
all i would never do such a thing but i would never do such
a thing because i'm i am absolutely not an east coast
(32:16):
or west coast person i like rappers from both sides and i would never
be like oh no i like west coast rappers
better or east coast i like rappers from all sides so it's never
gonna matter to me not like east coast versus west
coast i'm talking about drake versus kendrick did you ever pick
a side with that oh okay no i didn't i
would say i was about to
(32:37):
say i never but like no if i
were okay so here's what's happened the micro of this beef since it started
a lot of people who have been talking about quietly talking about stuff that
drake did now that this has come out has been more been more vocal about stuff that Drake's done.
(32:58):
And then it's not going into the pedo thing.
I, I still like, I haven't seen anyone say any hard evidence of any of that being true.
Just like, I haven't seen any hard evidence of any of the Kendrick wife abuse claims being true.
So I I've null and voided that stuff. Unless someone comes out with like hard
evidence that either of those things happened.
(33:19):
Those aren't, I'm not considering those in my conversation, but what I have
been seeing is Drake ripping off a lot of artists who just weren't popular enough
to lay claim to their things at the time.
And like, I saw one that sealed the deal for me. And it's like,
okay, Drake, you're, you're out of the conversation here.
(33:41):
Drake has a song where he almost word for word copies soldier boy.
If you are, if you're so bad at rapping that you need to copy one of the worst
rappers I've ever heard.
I'm did he copy his song or did he copy the console that soldier boy made?
(34:05):
I don't know what happened with the console, but the level of copying that Drake
is on, if Drake comes out with a console, I'm going to check with Soulja Boy
before I even look at that thing.
You made the OUYA look like the freaking PlayStation 2.
Too i'm just saying like it's if
you're like even if you don't
(34:26):
know anything about rap even if you've never heard a rap song in your life
if you heard these two songs and like i told you that the one from soldier boy
came out before the one from drake did you'd be like yeah he absolutely copied
him like it's not even like i took the words that you said and like you know took the flow that you
(34:46):
were using and then change the words to make it my own it's
literally the same words he changes like one
or two words per line in the entire thing
and not even like the main words he like he's over
here changing adjectives like it's it's so close to being the same song i'm
like okay and like there's a there's a picture there's like a very famous video
(35:08):
of soldier boy and this is way back in the day when it happened but like soldier
boy was so out of out of the scene at this point that people just were like,
oh, it's Soulja Boy being crazy.
But he's like, no, Drake stole my flow, word for word, bar for bar.
He stole the entire thing.
And people are like, no, that's crazy. I'm like, I saw the video.
(35:29):
I'm like, he did. This song...
Sucks but the the song that he's talking about that that drake stole it it's
it's the same thing like the line for line it's the same song i'm like why are
you stealing from this garbage man like,
like i have no love for soldier boy at all i i respect the fact that he was
(35:51):
like the first artist to go viral on social media and like people don't give
him enough credit for that but like
as an artist he had like two good songs ever and the
rest of his songs suck and the song i'm talking about sucks
but it that doesn't change the fact that
drake stole it like and they're like
there are tons of other really small artists like
there's another artist that he stole hotline blamed from
(36:13):
which is another song that sucks but like he stole
it from another artist like they're like multiple artists
that he like like basically signed so
that he could like steal their steal their
flows and their music and their vibe and then like he
basically like oh well since i own you
all of your music now i'm just not going to promote you and watch you you
(36:36):
know die because if i don't sell any of your music then no one will know that
i just ripped you off like he he apparently is just i mean he's apparently not
a good dude but like musically he is like a vulture Like he just eats up smaller
artists and the seals are stuff. Yeah.
(36:57):
So definitely like I'm on, I'm on the Kendrick side.
I still, Kendrick is not like, he's not one of my favorite rappers.
He's not in my top 10. Honestly, I think he's extremely talented,
but like he just, I just don't vibe with his style very much,
but like in this beef. Yeah. It's Kendrick.
(37:18):
No questions asked. Like, like he, He 100% won this thing.
And like, and like, if you, now that I know more about this kind of stuff,
if you listen to like, not like us, it's while he's very loudly calling Drake
a pedophile, that song, like there's no in the FNs or butts about that.
(37:39):
But like, he's also talking about all these artists that Drake rips off and
all of these, you know, like how his style changes all the time because he's
always finding some young artists to vulture and like destroy them.
And like the young artists that he's taking all the stuff from,
you don't know because he doesn't ever let them get famous and he just takes
their stuff and runs away with it.
(37:59):
Like, I'm like, yeah, yeah. Kendrick definitely won this thing.
Like, people are having conversations about whether or not Drake is going to
be able to come back from this.
And his most recent song that he's dropped since this beef is a...
I'm not sure if it's the entire song or if it's just a verse,
(38:21):
because that's all I've heard.
But it is a... Alright.
Just let me get this out, because it's going to sound ridiculous, but it's 100% real.
It is a jamaican patois which is basically jamaican accent and jamaican like
slang version of hey delilah with drake speaking in a jamaican accent.
(38:46):
Okay that is kendrick drop not like us which is the fastest streamed our rap song of all time
which he's you know like is
already like triple platinum and drake's counter
to that is a jamaican patois version of hey delilah oh it's garbage it's it's
(39:13):
garbage and people are people are literally thought that it was ai the first
time they heard it oh really they were like Like,
did someone just make an AI of Drake singing Hey Delilah? And then like, nope, that's him.
That's him. He did that. Like, he got into a are you part of the culture battle with Kendrick Lamar.
(39:34):
And his response to losing was to make a Jamaican patois version of Hey Delilah.
Wild. But like, people are, like I said, people are literally like,
I don't know if Drake's going to be able to come back from this.
So I'll say if no Gibson can come back from the stuff that he did,
(39:55):
I think eventually people will forget about it. Cause people are dumb.
Yeah. Yeah. There's, I mean, there's definitely an argument there.
So I never thought like, dude, I thought no Gibson was done,
but apparently he's doing stuff now. So I don't know.
But, uh, yeah, that, that.
(40:17):
That was, it was, it was wild. that like his
last that last song not like us he literally
paid it played it six times in a
row to a standing ovation every
time and then after the
the fifth time they just played the instrumentals kendrick
walked off stage and the entire crowd sung the
(40:40):
entire song while he was gone that's awesome
it's that's for a diss track that's wild
like the that's that's crazy and like like i like i said i have no idea if drake's
gonna be able to come back from this but all i do know 100 for sure is j cole
(41:01):
made the right decision he might be the smartest man in music,
just bowing out of this before it got this bad just saying apologizing and being
like i'm out before it got this bad might have been the best decision that anyone's
made in music in the last 10 years because i i.
(41:26):
Like being, being a rapper and like being in rap kind of requires like a certain level of like,
even if you're not of the culture, the culture has to respect you enough to
let you to buy music from you.
But like to have Amazon music like host and like sponsor a concert where 20,000
(41:55):
people screamed that you're a pedophile for 20 minutes straight.
Yeah, I that's wild.
Yeah, that's very crazy. Okay, I'm done.
Like I said, I don't want this podcast to just be the Kendrick and Drake beef updates.
Dates i just that that concert is
(42:16):
out of control well i got about
10 minutes left you want to do some positives sure absolutely
i'll do some positives and negatives i actually have i have one this week so
if you don't mind yeah go right ahead so you know i've been talking about uh
know your worth yes that stuff pays off dude believe in yourself you know i
(42:40):
guess i started on a new job tomorrow.
I've kind of stayed the course with a lot of stuff and, you know,
make those bets on yourself. Don't make any compromises for anybody.
If you know what you're worth, definitely get it. I'm not going to go into the
ins and outs of the actual job itself, where I'm going or anything like that.
Staying in the same field, got myself my own office, which is pretty cool. Nice.
(43:06):
But, and then, you know, just, yeah. Yeah, and that's what I'll say.
I'm trying not to get into super detail. Yeah, I get you.
Yeah. Know your worth, man, because I know it can be hard out there.
And a lot of companies will try to undercut you, especially if you're doing a good job.
(43:26):
They want to maximize what they're getting for a minimal return, if that makes sense.
Yeah. Stay your ground. Know your worth. Good things will come. Thank you.
That's what I got and I'm happy boy all right
well congrats again and thank
(43:48):
you I can talk about mine a little bit so
my so my whole
family is getting ready to go on a big family reunion so we're going to DC and
we're gonna see all the sites we're gonna go to the White House we're We're
(44:08):
going to basically our plan is to,
you know, my my aunt is.
You know, a project manager.
So she, you know, booked us all, you know, trips to go to all the museums and
go to, you know, like I said, the White House.
She's got like family dinners planned for us and stuff like she really like
(44:30):
went ham on making sure we can all, you know, get the most out of this DC trip.
But like this is like the first time that like
my kids are going to be around any of
like my st louis family so i'm excited
for everyone to meet them and for them to you know get to meet our side of the
family and everything it's just like i'm excited i'm excited to you know because
(44:56):
we live in because we live so far away from where my family is originally from
we don't have like like a lot of family experiences very often.
So I'm just excited to like, you know, get to go to St.
Louis, go to, to Washington DC and vibe with my family, with my extended family
that I don't see very often.
And then, you know, it was my positive is family.
(45:19):
That's awesome, dude. So yeah, that's where I'm going to be next week.
I'm going to be very cool in DC.
That's awesome, man. I've never been to the East Coast before.
South Carolina is probably about the furthest east I've gone.
I think that still comes out of the southern state, isn't it? Yeah, I think so.
And I think it doesn't become east until you get up to Pennsylvania, I think.
(45:47):
Right. I'm a west coast baby.
Eventually I'll head back out that way. But yeah, that's really cool.
Cool i've never been to dc that's on my bucket list though so happy for you
guys yeah i'm i'm excited i'm like like i haven't been to i haven't been to
dc before i've been to some east coast cities before but i've never been in
dc i'm excited for that yeah but like i'm excited to like,
(46:11):
like i'm excited but i'm also like worried because like dom and lee have not
really been in like big cities before so like i'm a little worried for how a
dom is just she's so friendly,
she doesn't know a stranger so like she
just will walk up to like complete strangers and start talking to them yeah
(46:35):
yeah like i know you shouldn't just be scared of people because they live in
a big city but like right i don't want my daughter to talk to the wrong person
and get someone tries to steal her or something,
but yeah, I, and I get that too.
I'm actually, I'm, I'm really happy to hear that too.
I know kids kind of growing up in the, in the pandemic, it's, it's kind of tough.
(46:59):
I do not, I'm dealing with that myself. Not just, not with Drake or anything,
but just like me in general, like I have a hard time with people anymore.
But having with her pretty much knowing her entire life as,
you know, in the pandemic, dynamic being able to have those social skills that's
pretty incredible dude that's awesome yeah i like i said it's a double sword
(47:22):
because she will she will talk to anyone but it's really,
it's encouraging that she's just like like she doesn't have that like fear shell
where she just doesn't like she doesn't see people as a threat and like she
doesn't have she never had a reason to at this point in her life but like it's
good i love that she just doesn't yeah that's awesome awesome.
(47:44):
You guys are going to have so much fun.
I'm fired up. Sorry for the short episode, everybody. We're kind of working
on time constraints today, but.
Try to get a super, super long, hard episode coming here soon.
Yeah, maybe we'll do that.
Finally get that Dragon Ball Z episode or that Kiratoriyama episode done next
(48:06):
time. Does it make up for the short? Oh, yeah.
Yeah, I've been doing my homework too, man. So I started GT not long ago.
I'm still not done with Cowboy Bebop.
But I accidentally fell asleep while I was watching it the other day.
And I woke up right as the show was ending. so i kind of
know i know yeah it
sucks but but i started
(48:30):
watching gt eventually i'll finish those other
two episodes off and i've been getting into sand land
a little bit so i'm doing my homework i say i would
if i if i fell asleep at
any point during cowboy bebop and then woke up at the last episode
at the end i'd probably stop watching for a little while too
yeah i done i
(48:51):
will we'll do a whole episode on cowboy bebop here
soon because i want to kind of give the big old
retrospective of it but yeah i will
finish that hopefully before the next episode so all right all right man i want
to get you out of here on time so i'll catch you later man i love you i love
(49:11):
you too brother come large march sent you wimity wham wham wazzle goodbye.
