Every day, each American generates about 5 lbs. of trash. The rest of the world averages about 1.8 lbs. of trash per person each day. Why the huge difference? According to research, about 76% of Americans throw their recyclables in the trash. How can we increase recycling? For example, we know that plastic waste does not break down in the environment for hundreds of years. Even then, it breaks down to microplastics and nanoplastics. As a past guest said on this podcast, “This generation is discovering the problems. The next generations must solve them.” Very true! Listen as host Tim Jordan explores these issues and others with his special guest, Jeff Snyder, Senior Vice President, Recycling & Sustainability, Rumpke Waste and Recycling.
