WE COVER the final two sessions of the WA Parliamentary hearing on the WA Firearms Act review – with each producing unexpected surprises.

The session of representatives for sport shooting groups, in our opinion, ended descended into a farce when SSAA WA representative went off track on unrelated matters, wasting valuable time in the one-hour slot shooting groups were given.   We were unimpressed.

This left representatives from the Western Australian Shooting Association (WASA) and Shooters Union Australia (SUA) having to represent the interests of shooters, which they did very well.

This was followed by the final hearing with WAPol.

OUR TAKE on what WAPol said was that they had no interest in the concerns of shooters, felt that the review of the Firearms Act was unnecessary, and had no idea of how the shooting sports work.

One Acting Inspector even said that the failure to recognise interstate licences – which is a cornerstone requirement of the National Firearms Agreement – was “not an issue”.

There was nothing that WAPol said that gives us confidence that they understand what the shooting sports need – and we’re not sure the Chair of the committee does either.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
