I present music from 1965 (some digressions) to the current time including Rock, Progressive, Psychedelic, Folk, Hard Rock, Country Rock and anything else I feel like playing. All categories decided by me. It will include short descriptions between tracks addressing artist, song title, album, origin and year. I promise you will hear artists that you’ve NEVER heard before. Do you have to know/recognize the music to enjoy it? GOD, I hope not. I will challenge you, but with the best of intentions. Each show is about 1 hour in length (rare digressions). You can expect/hope for ~ 2 to 3 new shows/week. [Est. Oct. 2023]
Yes, it's a Sycamore tree. This picture is actually the National Champion for the American Sycamore in Sunderland, MA. Please listen to some great Folk tunes.
This is a diversified group of artists. The UK is actually represented 3 times. There is 1 from Canada and the rest are from the US. The city of Chicago is represented three times. The rest are scattered all across the US.
Why would you listen to this? Why would you not? The set provides psychedelic tunes from mid-60's to present day. Who else does a show like this? No one or I'd like to meet them pronto.
This is more music to relax by. There are no sudden loud guitar solos, no drum solos and no angry voices.
Listen to this treat of Hard Rock tunes from 1968 to (?) and from around the globe.
This is another dig into the world of Baroque Pop. My definition is really by ear. I listen for a pop background that includes orchestral type instrumentation, such as strings and/or horns. Other examples would be instruments such as a harpsichord or Mellotron. The artists are 90% from the UK. I blame Chris Powell for making me focus. But I like it.
Who did who's song? Whodunit? Sometimes these second-hand versions are the reason we start appreciating certain songs that we previously dismissed. Covers come with their own share of creative intelligence as they require one’s own interpretation of the song or they perform the song as it is almost indistinguishable from the original.
All of these artists are from the British Isles!
This continues the storytelling of songs. This celebrates a great group of artists that created a story with the lyrics and song.
The great tunes are just spilling out of the vault. How do you take advantage? Two ears, one each side of the head, listen.
This could have been called, "Progressive Pie UK, Norway & some Belgium Sprinkled In", but I didn't. Take a big bite of this Lemon Meringue pie now, please. For Brits, is this a 'pudding', too?
I picked the 'Best of' songs featured in Shows 101-150. This is also Show #250. Please "Follow" this podcast. That helps keep my psyche purring.
Who gets to call all of this folk? Uh, me. This is a lovely set of 'folk-like' tunes. I do look up to see how they are categorized but they lie too. At any rate, please listen to this great set of songs.
A word Brits seem to like is 'knackered'. It is a favorite to describe old, out-dated, beat-up things. These tunes are NOT knackered. I present songs from the British Empire for this set.
Maybe it's a little too obvious. It will be 'sun' or a derivative in song title and rarely just in a lyric. It's time to let that giant orb in the sky shine.
Swill, huh? Any meaning of the word is NOT pleasant. But, this is Swell Swill. These are treats leftover that are still tasteful. Take a big slug of the Swell Swill.
This is a great chance to hear Country Rock selections with a wide variety of artists. The Chicago connection between Wilco and Son Volt are represented here. I believe the song by Slobberbone, "Gimme Back My Dog", you'll either love or hate.
Please note the show image is Bach with an electric guitar strapped to his shoulder. Please remember this quote, "if it's not baroque, don't fix it". The real 'heyday' for Baroque Pop was 1966-1969. Artists were experimenting with orchestral instrumentation such as strings, horns, etc. The other instrumentation used for these recordings includes harpsichord, pump organ & Mellotron. These instruments were added to a basic rock/p...
I present a set of tunes performed/recorded as a 'Power Trio'. A common setup for a rock trio is guitar, bass and drums. However, there are variations. The most common one is keyboards, bass and drums. There is a wide variety of music styles. The one thing in common? There's only 3.
This is a great one to listen to. I spotted a 'copped riff' that I'll expose. All in all, a great listen!
