Aethelflaed
Aethelflaed, the Lady of the Mercians, was an Anglo-Saxon ruler, who ruled the kingdom of Mercia in the late 9th and early 10th centuries AD. Born in the kingdom of Wessex, she was the daughter of Alfred The Great and the sister of Edward The Elder. Together with her father and brother, she played an important role in protecting her homeland against the invading vikings and laid the foundation for a united England. This is her story.
