The Hindenburg disaster was an airship accident that occurred on May 6, 1937, in Manchester Township, New Jersey, United States. It was a disaster that was essentially the end of commercial airships, and something you are probably familiar with whether you know it or not. You may have seen the infamous footage of the explosion or remember the famous “Oh the humanity” quote. It is an event that has entered the zeitgeist and is still referenced all these years later. Despite the obvious fallbacks of using large amounts of hydrogen to keep these crafts afloat, we will come to see in this episode that the events and cause of the Hindenburg crash were more complex and shrouded in more mystery than one might think.
