The trial for the violent murder of Marilyn Sheppard was considered to be the OJ Simpson case of its day, both in its public spectacle and in its unconventional journey through the law system. On July 4th, 1954, Merylin Sheppard was found brutally murdered in her Bay Village home in Ohio. The mother, who was four months pregnant at the time was bludgeoned to death. Hit 27 times by an unknown object. Her husband Sam Sheppard survived the incident, claiming to have fought with a bushy-haired intruder and being rendered unconscious twice in his efforts. He would both be found guilty and innocent of her murder in separate trials over the years, and in this episode, we will see how the media, court system, and odd circumstances put an innocent man behind bars.
